About
Switch Green Electrical is a Forest Hill based domestic electrical company run by Joel. Callouts, small electrical tasks, full house rewires, consumer unit replacements and EV charge points installations are all services provided by Switch Green Electrical. Joel first became an electrician in 2003 and has been a sole trader since 2011. Joel runs his business on honesty and reliability. All work undertaken is carried out to the latest BS7671 standards.
'All Hands and Hearts' are a non profit volunteer based organisation. When a natural disaster strikes anywhere in the world they help rebuild and improve. Joel has first hand experience working as a volunteer for All Hands and Hearts in Nepal and Peru. Redundant and excess cable is collected from jobs undertaken and then scrapped. The value of the scrap cable collected is donated to All Hands And Hearts. Redundant cable usually gets thrown on the scrap heap but here the waste product is recycled into a good cause that helps disaster struck communities rebuild

I contacted Joel to replace a socket, broken extractor and faulty kitchen lighting. He responded straight away, turned up on time and was very easy to deal with. He made really useful suggestions about how the lighting could be improved aesthetically and made more efficient he then quoted for the job the same day. On the day the work was to be done, he arrived again on time and completed the work without a hitch and with no mess left. I received the certificate for the work the same day it was completed. Joel is very friendly and helpful and I wouldn’t hesitate to use him in the future and can heartily recommend him.

Joel installed new LED light fittings throughout my flat as well as installed a new pendant light, ceiling fan, and replaced my bathroom extractor fan. He took care to visit first to ensure his quote would be accurate and comprehensive - something I appreciated as this avoided any unexpected additional costs. The work was done well and as promised - he even went above and beyond to infill a hole in the ceiling that was left from one of my previous light fittings, and was sure to clean up as he went along. He also took the time to ensure the light levels and colours of my new fittings were as I wanted and showed me how to adjust everything if I wanted to in the future. When the work was done he did a thorough safety check to ensure everything was as it should be in order to issue the proper certificates. I highly recommend Joel and Switch Green Electrical.

We had wiring for old wall lights that needed removing and making safe at the wall swich. Joel checked the wiring for us and discovered that the cables to the wall lights were connected to the circuit via a hidden junction box rather than behind the wall switch, which he explained to us clearly. This was before we moved in, so we didn't know how the wall lights had been fitted. As we are replacing the carpet in that room, he suggested looking under the floorboards for a junction box when the carpet is up and the floorboards can be lifted, and we agreed to get back in touch with him. He also replaced five wall switches for us. All the work was done quickly and neatly with minimum disruption to us

I needed an electrician to check and fix the electrics of the house I had recently moved in to. I found Joel through Which Trusted Traders - and I’m really happy he agreed to take on the job! From the very beginning, Joel was reliable, responsive and super clear about how long the work would take and how much it would cost. In the end, he had to make a few visits as there were several problems with the electrical installation of the house. He explained clearly what he would do in each visit and he was always on time. I contact Switch Green Electrical when I needed power running out to a new garden shed and the installation of lights and power sockets. After a quick initial phone call, Joel popped over to take a look at the situation and arranged a time to return to complete the work. The job took a day and the quality of the work was excellent, with the cables neatly routed and lights and fixtures sensibly positioned and well secured. I'm very pleased! One thing to note is that Joel is - quite rightly - very busy so there's a wait time of a few weeks before getting a job done. He's well worth the wait though!

Joel replaced 16 recessed downlights for LED's, replaced an extractor fan and fit a spur to enable the relocation of a tumble dryer. His work and finish is excellent. Everything was within the agreed budget and the work was completed well within schedule. During the initial consultation Joel was very helpful in advising us on the best way to run an additional spur to ensure that the work was not only safe but, aesthetically pleasing, even though it potentially meant extra work for him to avoid using trunking and with minimal disruption. Showed up within a couple of days to give me the quote, really spent the time understanding the work I wanted done, and helped me understand that one particular job would have been just way too complicated to try and pull off. I had to chase to get the quotation (not the end of the world), but we set a date and Joel stuck to it, and arrived bang on time. Joel completed a complex and messy job of rewiring our downstairs lighting circuit, after we had had persistent problems with fuses popping out. He had ascertained also that some sections were unsafe and not up to current standards. It's a large Victorian house that has been subject to major alterations in the past, and the cabling is all over the place. Several floorboards had to be lifted, and some of the problems took a lot of ingenuity to sort out. But we needn't have worried - Joel was well up to the challenge, and completed the work on time, within budget, and with the minimum of fuss and mess. We had electrical problems in the kitchen of a flat. We got Joel in after another electrician said the job was too complicated and may involve ripping up the floor and kitchen units. Joel is a rare breed of electricians. Honest, upfront, keeps to his word and if there is a cheaper or better way to do it he tells you. He had been working on a problem for us over a period of weeks and eventually he managed to isolate and fix the issue. Where others we had tried just gave up. I cannot recommend him enough.
