About
Switch Green Electrical is a Forest Hill based domestic electrical company run by Joel Buckwell. Switch Green Electrical specialises in small electrical tasks, consumer unit replacements and electrical repairs. Joel first became an electrician in 2003 and has been a sole trader since 2011. He runs his business on honesty and reliability. All work undertaken is carried out to the latest BS7671 standards.
'All Hands and Hearts' are a non profit volunteer based organisation that helps rebuild and improve areas in the aftermath of a natural disaster anywhere in the world. Joel has first hand experience working for them as a volunteer in Nepal, Peru and offers them electrical advice & guidance to keep their projects and volunteers safe.
The value of the redundant and excess cable collected from jobs undertaken is donated to All Hands And Hearts. Redundant cable usually gets thrown in the skip but here it is scrapped, recycled and the cash is donated to help disaster struck communities get rebuilt

We found Joel through Which? Trusted Traders and he helped us with a number of jobs for our property, this included fitting lights, new switches and installing a new oven. Joel was great to work with, really helpful and provided some great suggestions that we hadn't thought of ourselves. A complex and messy rewiring job done really well

Joel completed a complex and messy job of rewiring our downstairs lighting circuit, after we had had persistent problems with fuses popping out. He had ascertained also that some sections were unsafe and not up to current standards. It's a large Victorian house that has been subject to major alterations in the past, and the cabling is all over the place. Several floorboards had to be lifted, and some of the problems took a lot of ingenuity to sort out. But we needn't have worried - Joel was well up to the challenge, and completed the work on time, within budget, and with the minimum of fuss and mess. He was a real pleasure to work with and we will be happy to use him again.

We have used Joel before & when we woke up to an electrical fault on the Sunday of August bank holiday weekend we contacted him not expecting a reply. He got in touch immediately to say he could come round and then spent two hours sorting out our tricky problem. He is brilliant and I can't recommend him highly enough as an electrician and a person! We had electrical problems in the kitchen of a flat. We got Joel in after another electrician said the job was too complicated and may involve ripping up the floor and kitchen units. Joel was responsive, wrote clear e-mails, told us exactly when he could visit, and then did the entire job for significantly less than we had feared it might cost, without damage to the kitchen. He also recorded clearly in writing his findings and what remedial action he took. We own other flats and will now give him all our work.

I purchased a flat knowing that it would need some fairly expensive electrical work doing to it, and so I got a few quotes for the job. As someone who knows nothing at all about electrics, I was keen to find someone trustworthy and helpful. Joel is someone who takes responsibility for the task in hand and offers recommendations about what needs to be done and what does not. I felt some electricians were more interested in getting in and out as quickly as possible, rather than doing a proper and professional job. Joel was excellent from start to finish, and he is also a really nice guy.

Joel installed sockets and lights in our workshop as well as 2 security lights. He spent a long time chatting to me about various options for running an armoured cable from our house down the garden to make the job affordable as well as placing the cable safely. Joel is a rare breed of electricians. Honest, upfront, keeps to his word and if there is a cheaper or better way to do it he tells you. He had been working on a problem for us over a period of weeks and eventually he managed to isolate and fix the issue. Where others we had tried just gave up. I cannot recommend him enough. He didn't just fix what we asked him to but he also pointed out where we may have problems in the future and how to avoid them now. Great chap and a grafter. Thanks Joel.

Joel has been very helpful in carrying out some awkward smaller fixes - replacing two downlighters in a shower room, removing an old pond pump cable and installing a wall mounted electric heater - which had been hanging over us for ages. Joel has been fantastic. He been doing bits and pieces at our flat for a little while, which isn't always easy as it's an old converted building that initially had some very strange wiring. He's restored circuits with the minimum of disruption and damage and put right non-standard work done by another contractor and upgraded various switches and radiators for us. I've recommended him to a few friends who all have had great experiences too.
