I booked John in a while back to advise on a leak we had in our bathroom. He was booked up until the following year and still managed to find time. He came over and spent well over half an hour looking at the outside roof and the bathroom. He cleared growth and mud from the roof and spent time advising on how to rectify the problem myself - saving money and a long wait for his availability.. He’s pleasant, very easy going experienced and extremely knowledgeable. He wouldn’t take any payment from me. No wonder he’s booked up for several months! I thoroughly recommend - if he has time and availability.

From estimate to completion the honesty, professionalism and quality that John and his team bring to the job are second to none, with passion for their trade evident in the workmanship of the finished job. Polite and punctual throughout the work with regular updates. Absolutely no surprises regarding pricing nor changes. Totally trustworthy. John has a natural easy way of explaining all aspects of roofing without coming over all technical and will not try to create nor fabricate work that is not needed, quite the contrary in fact, very refreshing to hear these days. John couzens created a lead roof on a new bay window and tiled a new oak porch. The lead roof is beautifully done with a lead Tudor Rose, the company’s logo, attached. The tiled roof looks good and the professionalism of the team is obvious. John himself was really helpful and the team were polite and a pleasure to have at the house. We would have no hesitation in recommending this company.

Had the original lead valley on our lovely 100 year old house replaced,under the advice of a 'roofer', with a GRP (fibreglass version) when we first moved in. Years later, we discovered dampness in a bedroom cupboard and through further investigation found the valley had been leaking, through the floor and onto the ceiling below. Called John Couzens for advice and asked for a quote for this work and for re-doing the whole roof at the same time. Agreed a date and the work began. John and his team stripped the roof of tiles and battens and installed insulation to the inaccessible parts of the roof space. They then removed the existing cracked valley and rotten timbers. The team then felt/battened and re-tiled the roof as well as re-building the wooden valley structure prior to installing a beautiful lead version. The project was finished on time (give or take a few days due to weather and supplies being delayed) and the quality and detailing is truly outstanding. John and his team were friendly, approachable and knowledgable throughout. I would heartily recommend.

Our 100 year old roof was in need of a complete renovation. John couldn’t have been more helpful. He was thorough in his assessment and great at advising on the best way to do the job whilst saving us money. Work was carried out on time and with professionalism. John turned up when he said he would and gave us a detailed quote for a new roof and a realistic time scale. His team were a pleasure to have working on our bungalow. They were clean and tidy workers, very polite and respectful. The workmanship is first class, with a lot of attention to detail. I would highly recommend them.

What started as a problem with pigeons under the solar panels and some loose tiles turned into a new roof due to rotting battens. We now have a smart new roof and no pigeons or gulls. The work was done very efficiently with the minimum of disruption and mess, despite the impending pandemic lockdown. The workers were unfailingly friendly and helpful. The minor snags after the job were rectified promptly. I have no hesitation in recommending them to others.
