I wanted a snaking curved path and an irregularly shaped patio seating area built with a curved dwarf wall in a small London garden. The potential contractors seemed to fall into the CAD drawing swish category or the old school ‘tell me what you want and we’ll work together to achieve it’ category. I chose, and Keith Barnard fell into, the latter category. I thought a bricklayer would have a better ability to adapt to issues that might be encountered along the way due to the irregularity of shape. I am glad of the choice. Keith is a highly experienced and practical builder/bricklayer. He leads a family team of Sean and Ben who both have their virtues of fastidious attention to detail and aesthetic foresight/skill, respectively. They all had a straightforward and industrious approach to the project and were accommodating and understanding of my rather unspecific design wishes. Keith does not hold back in indicating practical hurdles but also comes up with a solution as to how to work around them, which I appreciated. The team was also very responsive to certain settling in problems which will only surface after the project is, on the face of it, complete. If there is a con, it would be a common builder problem in that, whilst hard landscaping in a very small mature garden, there will be some plant casualties along the way – quite often under a size 11 boot print! However, I am very pleased with the end result. Thank you Keith, Ben and Sean
