Lek-Trix Limited

After an initial assessment of electrical problems in our flat, Dan has carried out extensive upgrades spaced over several months. Beginning with the replacement and testing of a new main switch consumer unit, he has installed numerous new sockets in several rooms to remove clutter, moved our router to another room, and fitted several low-wattage LED light bulbs. All work has been done following comprehensive quotations. Dan is full of ideas and advice for electrical improvements, and works quietly and efficiently, clearing up any mess before leaving. We can highly recommend Lek-Trix to carry out any type of domestic electrical work.

We needed a number of light switches replacing, additional sockets installed in one room, and a new ceiling bulkhead light fitted. The work was done very efficiently and tidily. Dan discussed some issues relating to one of the additional sockets and helped me make a sensible decision not to make any changes to it, resulting in a reduction in their original quotation. We were very happy with his, work and would certainly use them again.

Dan fitted an outside socket to my property, he explained before he started that he needed to turn off the mains for ten minutes, told me when he had turned the mains back on which was under 10 ten minutes. He showed were the cable was going to come out of the wall so that I was happy with the position of the socket and then did a very neat job.

Dan attended carefully to all the issues and gave us an accurate and comprehensive quote. He appeared on time for the works and was meticulous and resourceful. His communication throughout was excellent. Once again we are very happy with the results. Thank you.

Excellent job done fitting a new outside light, as expected from Dan. He even cleared away some spider webs from the area around the light!

Dan expertly fitted a ceiling fan in our bedroom, explaining what he would be doing clearly to me beforehand. He took the time to explain the controls afterward and was friendly, professional and tidy- Definitely recommend!

Finally got an electrician to fix problems in the flat I moved into in April 2020. Dan repositioned thermostats, changed laundry light fitting and switch locations, replaced old receptacles by new ones with USB charging sockets, and installed two remote-controlled variable downlights in place of the originals. The materials provided by me were unsuitable in some cases and Dan was quick to propose, obtain and install improved alternatives. He consulted well on changes to planning, working long hours to complete the work within the day instead of the planned two days. The new installations were neatly done, exposed damage from the original installation was made good and the clean up was faultless. He will be the first electrician I call for any future work.

I contacted Dan to fit a timer on my elderly parents' immersion heater, fit a new electric radiator and sort out the main thermostat - which my parents didn't know how to use. Dan was able to do the work at short notice and did a very good job. He explained how the timer and thermostat worked and programmed in the times for my parents. I would certainly recommend him.

I have used Lek Trix previously and had no hesitation in contacting them again when as a consequence of fitting a new boiler I was advised that my fuse board needed upgrading. I confess this task was far more complex than I had imagined but Dan clearly explained what was needed. Indeed while he was here he patiently answered all my questions. His expertise is extensive and the care and consideration that goes into his work is, I believe, probably second to none. I have already been in contact to have further work done.

I found Electrician Dan Haynes of LEK-TRIX LTD (Bristol) through the government TrustMark.org website (a little known resource and not well publicised). The firm is in the category of 'small-is-beautiful offering the 1-2-1 customer service experience that is the polar opposite of a large organisation. Whilst without a switchboard messages are attended to efficiently and there is that personal touch evident; Dan is both reassuring and knowledgeable providing a range of solutions and at different price points that always takes into account safety as of paramount importance. The installations were conducted as agreed and with ongoing consultation rather, say, unlike some contractors; simply opting to complete the install in the shortest time frame possible. Prompt in his attendance and helpfully tidying the job as he goes along; all-important especially in a domestic setting. On the technical front, it's clear that Dan is mindful to explain to the customer what can and cannot be done; in addition to making useful suggestions about alternatives. Thoroughly recommended: Professional Electrician who is also amiable in his manner and very considerate. Following completion of works, my NICEIC Certificate arrived without me having to remember to chase it!

As an 80 year old computer dinosaur, I do not usually provide on-line reviews for anything because it is not all that easy for me. However I want to do this this time for Dan's last piece of work; in fact, he has carried out several pieces of work for us, both large and small, which is why I have used the word "Typical" above for the last job. In other words, He got back to us when promised, came to us when promised, did a superb job, and cleared up immaculately - all fully up to the standard of the work he has done for us before. This is why we have always contacted him when we needed an electrical who could be relied on completely.

We hired Dan and his team to do a general check of our electrics and fix a few minor problems. They were very professional and knowledgeable and went out of their way to help. They always informed us of anything that needed addressing and the cost before they did anything, which was great. We will definitely be using them again.

Dan runs a reliable, friendly, and very knowledgeable company. He completed the many jobs I had asked him to do on time and also on budget. He was able to fit a new consumer unit that replaced a patchwork of old fuse boxes from the last 70 years, and overcome the many obstacles that the old installations threw up on the way. We needed our twelve down lights in our kitchen upgrading and not knowing an electrician found Dan through trustedtraders. He is everything that one could wish for in that he is polite,conscientous,punctual and does a brilliant job at a very competitive price. He arrived yesterday afternoon and did a seamless job replacing our lights and putting in a dimmer switch for us. There was no mess left at all when he left a couple of hours later and we now have the capability of working in a brightly lit room and then eating in a more subdued light. His invoice was to the pence what his quote had been. We cannot recommend him strongly enough and in future will consult trustedtraders before choosing any tradesman.

I’ve nothing but praise for Dan and the quality of his work. This is the second job Dan has done for me and like the first, this job (fixing a faulty underfloor heater, fitting a new thermostat and mounting a power outlet into a chimney breast) was completed to a very high standard. Always tidy, careful and professional, Dan goes the extra mile to make sure you are happy and his pricing is very competitive. Dan and apprentice Lee were very nice people to have in our home. A new fuse box was fitted and a full test of the electrics carried out. Some lights were changed from pendant to flush ceiling lights at the same time. We found them both very hard working and professional. They cleared up the mess before they left and covered the carpets with dust sheets whilst working. Nothing was too much trouble for them to move things when we needed to go up and downstairs .We are going to get them back in the spring to do some smaller jobs, and will use them for all our electrical work in future. Also Dan was very helpful in picking the new ceiling lights after we gave him a description of what we wanted .He got it exactly right! We are very pleased with the neatness and quality of the work carried out.

Dan is my go-to electrician for fault finding and other small jobs - we don't have need at the moment for any larger work, but I'd use him if we did. Each time he has tracked down the issue about which we called him in and sorted it out. I like the clarity of his pricing and estimates and that he comes when he says he will and gets stuck in.

Lek-Trix installed electricity in an external garage, including external lighting, which involved fitting an armoured supply cable around the garden. The work was completed on time to a high standard, with excellent communication, and everything was kept tidy throughout. We felt the process was stress-free, and would use this company again. We received really good customer service and would recommend to anyone looking for an electrician.

Once again, (the fourth time over the last year or two - see my review in June), Dan came and did an efficient job, sealing off and covering two wall light connections in each of three rooms. Keeping to anti-Covid rules, working quietly, tidily, and cleanly as always, helped this time by his apprentice Lee, he showed what a good worker he is. I told Lee how fortunate he was to have found such a skilled man to learn from. Dan is always very pleasant and agreeable to have working in your house - I would always turn to him first for any electrical job.

The whole process from start to finish was great with Dan and his team. From the initial chat, to the knowledge to the booking of the job and the invoicing was easy and quick. They worked efficiently and answered all our questions and very tidy too - highly recommended.

This job was quickly quoted for and completed on time and to budget. It was not at all easy as the previous unit was in a small cupboard with tight access. We decided that as well as fitting a new unit, it would be better to move the new one to a more convenient location, requiring a lot of time in a small space. They also converted 5 halogen downlighters to LED. Dan, assisted by Lee, arrived on time and had the job completed by the end of a long day. The following day required extensive testing of the system leaving us with a smart installation which is much more accessable. Dan was always helpful and explained what he was doing as the day progressed. First class job!

We were delighted to have Dan and Lee in our house. They set about adding an electric point and renewing two others, one without asking or even charging. The service was at all times done with smiles, discernible even with the mandatory Covid masks. We should not hesitate to use Lek-Trix again.

Before buying our new house, we asked Lek-Trix to carry out an electrical installation condition report (EICR) as we suspected that we’d need a full rewire of the house. Dan was prompt in every respect; at replying to my original query, in carrying out the work and in sending us back the report. When the report confirmed that a full rewire of the house was needed, Dan was the obvious choice to carry out the work. Dan carried out a full rewire on our 3-bedroom house over ten days and blew us away with his approach. He was quite simply exceptional. The quality of the work he carried out, and the way he did it, leaves me confident that we will enjoy many, many years of reliable, safe electrics in the house. (I wouldn’t be surprised if the wiring in the house outlives us!) If you’re looking for a true professional for any electrical work, I can highly recommend Lek-Trix. Dan really is the “wiring wizard”! He works hard, is reliable and is a genuinely nice guy as well. What more do you need?

Dan replaced a fan for us, but has previously installed LED lights and done various other jobs. He always turns up on time, sticks to the quote, works efficiently and cleanly and tidies up afterwards. Good communication with customers, personally and through the office.

This is the third time that we have used Lectrix (previously- for outside security lights/changing all our lights to LED/replacing the fusebox and installing smoke alarms). I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Dan. He is efficient, punctual, knowledgeable, friendly, tidy and reliable. He will always give the best and honest advice (from his years of experience). This time he had to install a new plug point and coordinate with the joiners to wire our new front doorbell. Despite being busy he found the time to do the work as he knew that without the wiring we wouldn't be able to answer the door! We have never had to call him back as everything was done perfectly the first time and he gives quotes which are realistic and detail all the work that he is going to do, if there are any extra add ons Dan will send another quote for you to accept, so that there are no surprises.

This is now the second job I've had done by Dan and it's reassuring to know I have access in the future to a reliable, trustworthy and competent electrician to carry out any electrical job I need doing without having to do further research trying to find one. A straightforward job installing a second light switch and a double socket in our garage.This was all carried out to my complete satisfaction, tidily and with all due respect to the current Covid-19 personal and customer protection issues. Good communication sorting out the job scheduling beforehand.

Dan and Frankie offer the best service. They are quick to respond, carry work out in a timely manner, are super courteous and do a slick professional job every time (we've used Lek-Trix twice now). Their covid-19 precautions too are spot on - Dan wore a mask, kept his distance, only touched what was absolutely necessary, and wiped everything down as he went. Can't recommend Lek-Trix enough.

Dan installed a new consumer unit, replaced some single sockets with double sockets, added some new sockets, added a new light switch, moved a pendant fitting and installed breakfast bar pendants. He took time to talk through options during his quote visit, not for just the immediate work, but for other work planned throughout the house, advising on the best order in which to carry it out. He explained everything very well and also has a good eye, e.g with positioning of the pendants over the breakfast bar. He took all possible Covid precautions, wearing gloves and mask, bringing his own towel, using antibac wipes on anything he touched and maintaining social distancing. I have recommended him to my neighbour and will use him for the all the other work in this house.

This was the third occasion on which we have used Lek-trix and once again we have been very satisfied. There were 3or 4 separate jobs – change of lighting fittings in the lounge and in the entrance hall, replacement of undercupboard lighting in kitchen and provision of a light in a previously unlit 3rd floor storeroom. The work was quoted for in February and Dan gave good advice about the best place to view and choose from an array of light fittings. The job was arranged for early March, but unfortunately was held up particularly by the coronavirus lockdown. However, since the work was urgent for us, Dan made sure he could come as soon as the lockdown was eased and we were able to receive him, still having to wear masks and maintain social distance. As always, Dan worked discreetly, arranging not to disturb us even though he was working in several places in the house. He works quietly, efficiently and neatly; he cleaned up carefully after each of the jobs, including in the current circumstances wiping everything he had touched. He worked a very long day to complete everything. As on the previous occasions we were vey pleased with his work and can highly recommend Lek-trix.

Arrived on time to assess the work required and provided a comprehensive explanation of what was required and why. Detailed quote arrived a couple of days later. Arrived on time to do the work which involved testing all our electrical circuits before replacing our fuse box with an 18th edition compliant (January 2019) fire rated 10 way consumer unit with individual RCD protection and surge protection. Dan was always happy to dicuss and explain what was happening and why. He completed the work on time and the DCN18C certificate arrived 8 days later followed by the NICEIC Building Regulations Certificate of Compliance a fortnight later.

Dan came to assess the state of the electrics in our large Victorian house. He tested every circuit and socket and provided estimates for various options. He explained everything clearly. I had no hesitation. A new fuse box/consumer unit, some replacement switches, a new outside light, etc. Certificates sent subsequently. Good value, thorough and friendly, Dan is trustworthy and efficient electrician. Highly recommended.

Dan arrived promptly and with a call from Frankie earlier to let me know of the time of Dan’s arrival. Due to an error (on my part) there was additional work which Dan was able to do. He worked out the additional cost prior to starting the extra work. He kept me fully informed throughout, did an excellent job and I would not have any hesitation in asking him to do further work or to recommend him.

Had a problem with fuse tripping all the time and our usual electrician was away so found Lek-Trix through advert in a local publication. The big bonus here was that the firm kept in touch by phone, the electrician turned up at the time he was meant to. He was friendly and courteous, explained everything clearly, sorted a temporary fix to our problem (we have an old house, lots of legacy wiring) and all is well. Would certainly consider using this firm for the re-wiring that will be needed when we renovate and have no hesitation in recommending them to others.

Dan came out to us at fairly short notice to investigate a faulty circuit. We were given a quote (hourly rates) to accept (or not!) before a time for his visit was arranged. Dan was very thorough and explained everything in detail. Although he had to leave for a while to acquire a necessary part, he still managed to stay within his quote. Dan was also very helpful in explaining how our installation should be upgraded. We hope he will come back to deal with this and we would have no hesitation in recommending him. I recently had a new fuse box installed. Dan arrived promptly and worked very hard all day. The job took longer than expected but Dan continued working until the work was completed finishing at 7 pm even though it was a Friday evening. Dan was contracted to replace a number of ceiling and shaving lights as well as fit 1x18th edition compliant (January 2019) fire rated 10 way high integrity consumer unit with dual RCD protection and surge protection device. Not only that he also tidied up the telephone wires in the house and put in a new telephone socket for the WiFi router. Dan worked all day, was pleasant and hard working and even had time to help an elderly neighbour; at the end of the day he explained fully the workings of the consumer unit. A special mention goes out to Frankie who provided a very efficient home office support without whom the coordination of the work would be more complicated.

For Mr. & Mrs. 'T' who are house bound and don't use computers. Dan & team were able to work around us due to our disabilities and carers calling in 3-4 times a day. Only had to turn power off when had to, for safety. So all electrical household items could be used, and the heating & we were able to keep watching sport on TV. This was the second time we have used Lek-Trix. We were pleased the first time, two years ago, so asked them for a quote again. Dan came to discuss what we wanted – lamps to light the paved path from the street to the doorway – a special need for my wife who is partially sighted and cannot see the path in the dark but also cannot look towards the brightness of a security light. Dan proposed 2 bulkhead lights on a low wall, hooded to project light downward to the path, with sensors at either end, angled to prevent them responding to every passer-by on the street. We accepted the quote on 11 Jan. and the job was done on 17 Jan. Dan arrived punctually, explained how he would connect everything up and got on with it, working very efficiently. He was meticulous in cleaning up indoors, after wiring up in the fuse cupboard, making the wiring neat through the porch and drilling through the outer wall, and he left no mess on the path outside. He has a very agreeable manner and it was a pleasure to have someone so pleasant and efficient working in the house. He was happy also to fix a transformer in a kitchen light and to take time at our request to advise us on another job which we might need doing at some future date. We have used Dan before and he did a fabulous job tracking down a weird fault. This time the job was simpler, but again Dan was punctual, quick, tidy and effective. He also discussed with me some options fo completing the work which as helpful. Job done!

Dan and Frankie are super efficient and always keep you informed about what's going on. They are reliable and do what they say they will, on the agreed day, and if things change or aren't possible then they always keep you up-to-date. They are really friendly too. The quality of the work was fab and we'll definitely be asking them to carry out other jobs for us in future. 10/10!

How refreshing it was to find that communication with Dan is so easy (no leaving messages on mobiles and waiting days for a response)! Frankie answers emails promptly and is available at the end of a phone, and so as a customer, I always feel I know what is going on. Dan is reliable. He is obviously very well-informed about things like building regs and is very safety conscious. He discusses options fully, being sensitive to the cost of work (he told me he could move some sockets, as I had asked, but pointed out that it might not be worth it, given the cost and disruption). He works tidily and effectively and clears up afterwards. He has just replaced a fuse-box and done a complete safety check for us, and we shall certainly be calling upon him next time we need work doing. He's a real find!

Dan rewired our entire 1930's house over the course of two weeks, with all our existing furniture (and us!) still in it, and did a fantastic job. There was minimal mess and disturbance, and the job was completed quickly. Dan was very helpful, courteous and professional at all times. Dan has been our electrician for a number of years (over the space of 3 properties). Most recently he undertook a full rewire of a 1930s property which was not for the faint hearted and had not been touched for decades! Especially as we were living in the property at the time. He is reliable, hardworking and extremely knowledgeable and skilled. We have every confidence in his workmanship. He was always incredibly unobtrusive and tidy when working. He came on days off to finish the job even at the weekends. He was great when we asked him for technical or aesthetic advice and recommended us to a very good lighting shop nearby.
