Lloyd Hallowell Electrics

I changed my gas cooker for induction hob/electric oven. Kitchen is small and narrow. The company advised me what I would need and I wondered if this was possible. Electrician (Nathan) devised a plan on the spot. Worked really well and is hardly noticeable. He was really pleasant and consulted me before embarking on each part of the work. Cleaned up and took any rubbish away. Have not received invoice yet but company advised me that they could not give an exact figure until work was completed. I would definitely use company again.

I have used Lloyd Hallowell a couple of times now for both small and more tricky electrical work, and I have always been pleased with the helpful and constructive attitude of the engineers (particularly Nathan), always reaching a good solution in a good time frame. In particular, Nathan has helped me install an outdoor Ring camera, and has investigated and resolved outdoor garden light short-circuit problems. I am inviting him back shortly to redo an old installation of outdoor socket, RCD and receiver switch which is 15 years old. The online work booking service is very efficient on the website.

Excellent service and very organised. They completed an EICR. Cleaned up thoroughly after the work and gave good explanations.

I contacted Lloyd Hallowell as a Which trusted trader to do an EICR. Alfred came out to do the assessment and then came back to replace overheating downlights, fluorescent underlights, install a smoke alarm, heat and CO detector together with all associated wiring. Absolutely outstanding. He was so nice and polite and easy to have around. He left the flat clean, tidy and took particular care of the newly decorated surfaces. He gave me advice on what to change and how it could be achieved. He came when he said he would. In the background Lloyd's level of organisation and customer service is exemplary. The day before the final appointment he notified me late in the evening of a possible overrun on the arrival time and we sorted out a good workable arrangement. Charges were exactly as expected. I cannot think of a way in which this experience could have been better.

We were very impressed with Lloyd and his team. They did an excellent job refitting a smoke alarm and sorting out the whole alarm system, which hadn’t been properly installed by another electrician. It was a complicated job and what was really great was how carefully they listened to us and how efficiently and effectively they then fixed the problem. We couldn’t be happier with the work they did for us.

A disappointing experience: I booked an appointment for 10:00 and the electrician called at 07:50 on the morning to ask if they could arrive at 08:00 because they were in the area. Owing to my schedule, I requested that we keep to the time booked, to which they said they couldn't and would be with me later that day. Whilst not entirely convenient, I advised I was in the property until 17:30 so they could arrive any time up to then. I received a call at 17:04 stating they could be with me at 18:45, so, we rearranged the work for the next day. The following day they arrived at the agreed time, though, they were keen to stress it was their "day off" as if they were doing me a favour. As soon as they entered the property, and were shown the socket that needed replacing, they complained about the work, how hard it was, and even said after completion that they considered walking away because it was so bad. This is despite obtaining a quote, prior to which I detailed the work required and provided photos of the socket/area in question. They completed the work, which can't have been that bad because it took about 20 minutes, and then left the work area in disarray, not tidying up after themselves. The work was completed to a satisfactory standard but I would question their expertise handling bigger projects if something as simple as changing a socket was considered such a "tricky" job.

Lloyd and his team did an absolutely fantastic job at our property. The booking system is extremely easy to use and you have full transparency on who is coming to do the work and how they are getting on with the journey. Communication with Lloyd was excellent throughout. He was very quick with responses at all hours of the day (including weekends) and always went out of his way to provide very detailed explanations of what kind of work needed to be done, why they were recommending it be done a certain way, etc. He gained our trust from the very first interaction and we were never disappointed. In terms of the actual work carried out, we first had an EIRC done which highlighted a lot of remedial work required, as the property we recently bought had been somewhat neglected in that respect. We discussed the results with Lloyd and got a very fair and practical recommendation on which items were important vs nice to have. In the end we decided to take him up on most of the work and that required multiple visits, but all was carried out seamlessly. The finished work is to a very high standard and we are overall very happy and would wholeheartedly recommend Lloyd and his team.

Lloyd and his team are fabulous. Our very friendly and helpful chap Nathan arrived on time, fitted seven wifi smoke and heat detectors, and also checked existing electrical work and consumer unit. I can only say that they are incredibly efficient, easy to get hold of and lovely, meticulous attention to detail. They really do what they say they will do. I own rental properties in East London and Lloyd Hallowell are my go-to always, having used them for several jobs. Also, work was completed within budget and on time. They are also always available for advice between jobs. I cannot recommend them more highly.

I contacted Lloyd for adding several double sockets and changing lights. This was done quickly and efficiently, and completed within a few hours. He also suggested some further work to improve that would be useful to have done in the near future. I will have no hesitation going back to Lloyd for this work.

What an amazingly nice and friendly guy Lloyd is who soooo knew his stuff. I booked Lloyd to replace a dodgy old consumer unit (fuse box) and repair a faulty circuit he had noticed when I had booked him to do a general inspection a couple of months earlier. His online booking process is very efficient. Lloyd arrived on time, completed the work to a high standard and left the area spotless. He talked me through everything he would do clearly and was very polite and friendly. I thought he had a very positive attitude, even when an unforeseen problem was discovered due to the wiring age that he came up with a successful plan B for. I'd definitely book Lloyd again and I would recommend.

Electrician Nathan sorted out a few small jobs regarding light switches and plug sockets. He was quick and thorough and offered sound advice on some lighting issues. He was fast and efficient and the final bill came in at less than quoted. I’m happy to recommend this company.

I got an EICR report before buying my property. Lloyd's team was thorough and professional and the customer service in answering questions and queries afterwards was fantastic. Super easy and friendly service - very comforting for someone who knows nothing about electrics/DIY!

I had some downlighters replaced throughout my flat. Lloyd was really friendly and helpful and spent a lot of time giving me options and advice ahead of me making the booking. He kept in touch in the run up and was friendly during the visit. He was professional and tidy and I was really pleased with the work.

Lloyd’s communication was prompt, to the point and makes good use of digital tools i.e. automatic diary completion, reminders, indication where he is on his way to the job, clear invoice etc. He worked hard, did the job, adapted where necessary and responded fast to suggestions. We weren’t quite sure if the lights were the correct ones so he went away and came back with different lights to compare. All this to ensure I got what was promised. The job was done well, and it was a pleasure to have Lloyd around. I can certainly recommend him and was pleased to see that one of my neighbours had already nabbed him for a job minutes after he’d parked his car near my house.

Lloyd had the unenviable task of clearing up a cowboy electrician's mess. He did so thoroughly and without any teeth-sucking or complaint. He is efficient, tidy and meticulous and he did the job. I had been let down by 2 electicians prior to Lloyd, it was a relief to find someone with integrity. I shall use him again.

Lloyd supplied and installed a bathroom extractor fan, ensuring it was set up correctly, repaired a light fitting and added gas pipe bonding. Very happy with the speed and quality of service and communication over the job.

I found Lloyd on Checkatrade and after having a few different electricians come out, I decided to go with him straight away. He knows a huge amount about electrics and is very meticulous in everything he does. He’s super tidy, ordered, and skilled with all things electrics. He has excellent communication skills and always updates you when he is on his way to your job. Lloyd is a pleasure to have around he’s very friendly, kind, and interesting (with great taste in music!). Look forward to having him come back again whenever more work is needed! Super happy with all his work, can't recommend him highly enough.

Lloyd was hired to install new light fittings throughout the whole of our home, as well as a new bathroom extractor fan and a radiator timer. From initial engagement via an easy to use booking system through to completion, Lloyd was at all times very professional and knowledgeable. We were notified in advance and on the day, time of arrival, and could track route to ensure we were at home when he arrived. All fittings were installed to an exacting standard even when having to replace poorly installed bathroom lights and an extractor fan previously fitted by a rogue builder. No job was too big or small. Lloyd was meticulous in tidying up, despite there being little mess and left our home clean. He also very much respected our request to wear a face mask at all times. I would have absolutely no hesitation in using Lloyd again and would definitely recommend him to friends.

We had 5 light fittings that needed replacing, all slightly different. The work was completed properly and tidily, and within the time frame offered. They were honest about what could be done and how, and both electriciatians were courteous and friendly. The lights look great! Would not hesitate to use this company again.

I used Lloyd and his electricians to re-do an EICR certificate I had previously obtained from another company who then stopped replying to my queries and emails when I challenged it. Lloyd was exceptionally helpful and took time to talk me through everything on the phone and discuss options in detail before I had even committed to using his services. Then throughout the work he was professional and friendly, always available to talk things through if I had questions.

The circuit breaker for my cooker tripped, causing a smell of burning plastic from near the oven. After resetting the circuit breaker, the hob and oven came on again and I couldn't find a fault with either of the appliances. Given the smell, however, I was reluctant to keep using them as I worried that there could be a problem with the wiring to the hob/oven or elsewhere in my flat. One of Lloyd's team came the next day and thoroughly investigated (this included checking out the circuit breaker, pulling out the oven switch, and pulling out and reinstalling both the oven and hob). He didn't find any problem and reassured me that it was OK to continue using the appliances. Best of all, Lloyd explained that there is no call out fee and that they would only charge if work was required to repair a fault, which didn't turn out to be the case. I'm so glad I was able to get the issue resolved without paying for an expensive electrician visit and very grateful to them for the reassurance and for this policy.

I’ve used Lloyd three or four times now to fix faults that other bad electricians have either created or failed to find. He’s 100% considerate. Professional. Courteous and reliable and his quality of work is amazing. Good booking system and great communicator. Cannot recommend him enough.
