About
Paul started Lock Assist in 2003 after working as a master locksmith for over 20 years. We are an Approved Company of the Master Locksmiths Association so if you need expert advice and help from time served, experienced locksmiths who know how to pick locks open if you're locked out, we're the ones to call.
Tricky locks? Difficult doors? Catchy keys? If your locks and doors start playing up and they're getting really difficult to use - maybe the key's stiff to turn or the door's not closing properly - it's always best to get the problem resolved before it gets worse.

First of all we experienced the calming and helpful voice of Sarah and then Paul arrived at speed. What a fabulous double act. While we were on the phone to Sarah she helped us remove the key although Paul needed to change the lock barrel. He was a pleasure to meet and a delight to have working on our front door. I have an unsual Swedish-style timber-frame house. It has Swedish windows, Swedish gutters, Swedish drainpipes, Swedish doors. One of the external doors - the entry to the integral garage - had a high-security multi-point lock with three hooks connected to the doorframe. The hooks worked, but the lock that secured them in position failed. The choice was - replace the whole door and its frame at a cost of around £1,500 or use the existing mechanism and find a new way of making it secure. The answer: a set of three window locks to replace the broken lock for £153. They aren’t perfect - it takes a minute to secure them each evening, but they are almost as strong as the original hook locks. To latch the door takes one second. Brilliant!

I had an issue gaining entry to my house as there was an issue with the lock. Paul came within 45 minutes of my initial call. He was brilliant from beginning to end. Prompt, efficient, informed me of the issue, and came up with a solution. He then returned after the weekend to replace the cylinder. Paul had talked through the different options and had sourced one very quickly. His communication was excellent. Now I have a great new lock! Paul could not have been more helpful. It’s rare these days to find a company which offers such great service and quality work. Paul was efficient on the telephone and when he visited my property the next day. He is a master craftsman with a charming manner and a true professional. He recognised the problem immediately and fixed it quickly and perfectly re-aligning 2 locks and then fixing another lock which was not what I initially called him out for with no extra charge. Paul at Lock Assist was simply excellent, quick to answer the phone and quick to get me into my house! I had left my bag on the train with my house keys in and my dog was home alone and I was on my way back from London. Paul even picked me up from the train station, saving me a taxi ride. Paul picked the lock and we got in within 20 minutes, no damage. Can't recommend them enough.

Our front door mortice lock jammed, called Lock Assist, they arrived in 45 mins, started immediately and managed to open the door and access the lock. They got it working within minutes and refitted the lock. Excellent service, then we asked them to look at the patio door lock and they happily moved on to dismantle and totally repair the rusted door lock mechanism. Brilliant workmanship.

Today we closed our front door, leaving the keys in the lock on the inside of the door. Our daughter called Lock Assist, within 30 minutes Paul arrived and promptly managed to get us into our home. He advised to think about changing the lock mechanism to prevent this happening again. We asked him to go ahead with the suggested new system, whilst fitting this he noticed a problem with triple the lock alignment brackets, he rectified the problem at no extra charge. I would highly recommend Lock Assist, excellent service at a very competitive price.

I called last thing on a Thursday evening - didn't need urgent help, just our front door handle was behaving strangely - but still working and locking OK. They asked me to email over my details and pictures of the door handle, which I did. They called me Friday morning and arranged to attend at a time convenient to me. Turned up, unscrewed the door handle, gave the springs in it a quick cleaning spray, put it back on, and everything is back to normal. They were only here a couple of minutes, so didn't charge me. Hence leaving them a lovely review. They were helpful on the phone, got back to me quickly, and both the guys who arrived were friendly. They even showed me exactly what to do if it happens again. I'll definitely be keeping their number in my phone and using them when we have a genuine lock problem.

I have used Lock Assist previously to realign my patio doors which were not closing properly. Paul did a fantastic job on those so I called them back - this time to look at some windows which either wouldn't shut easily or the handles had become very stiff. Just a few hours after contacting Lock Assist Carl arrived to fit a new lock to our patio doors. Unfortunately, this proved to be a complex issue which could not be immediately resolved. Undeterred, Carl returned the next day to fit further new parts but was still not satisfied with the result. Further visits, this time accompanied by Paul, were made until things were working properly. In the meantime the guys undertook the replacement of handles on our front door, which again proved challenging, but in the end was resolved perfectly. Their commitment to achieving a solution they were satisfied with, let alone the customer, was remarkable. Despite the difficulties, and the need for return visits, they remained friendly and approachable. Nothing was too much trouble. This level of service is, unfortunately, rare these days and Lock Assist is to be highly commended. I will use them again without hesitation.

I called Lock Assist Ltd at 16.45 on a weekday afternoon as I was suddenly unable to lock my front door. The phone was answered by Karl who immediately reassured me that they’d be able to help. I emailed some photos across of my door and by 17.00 Karl had arrived at my home. He was quickly able to identify and rectify the problem. I cannot recommend Lock Assist more highly.
