About

Paul started Lock Assist in 2003 after working as a master locksmith for over 20 years. We are an Approved Company of the Master Locksmiths Association so if you need expert advice and help from time served, experienced locksmiths who know how to pick locks open if you're locked out, we're the ones to call.
Tricky locks? Difficult doors? Catchy keys? If your locks and doors start playing up and they're getting really difficult to use - maybe the key's stiff to turn or the door's not closing properly - it's always best to get the problem resolved before it gets worse.

Called the office at 4.25pm as our UPVC front door multi-lock had seized and we were unable to lock the door. Karl came out immediately, and by 5.15pm had fixed the lock by replacing the lock gearbox and the key barrel, which had also become worn. Explained everything as it was being repaired. Both Karl and Paul who I subsequently spoke to were very friendly, very experienced and professional. Very happy with the price charged, and would definitely recommend Lock Assist, and will certainly use them again if we ever need a locksmith.

Great service from start to finish. Sarah was great on the phone. The Paul and Karl arrived quickly, were professional, super friendly and clearly knew what they were doing. Front door lock failed on Sunday, contacted Lock Assist Monday morning and they responded immediately, and resolved the problem. They had previously repaired the lock 8 months earlier, but without any input from us submitted their invoice in the amount of £0.00 advising that the earlier repair had used an incorrect part and no payment was required. Exceptional service which was very much appreciated.

Called after 9am with front door lock mechanism which had failed. Followed up with emailed photo of lock/door. Two technicians arrived about 2pm and replaced failed central gearbox mechanism, leaving me with a fully functioning front door within 6 hours. They could have done it even quicker if I had not had to take my wife out in the morning.

Paul arrived within 10 mins of contacting lock assist , my door lock on the idle door on the base , had jammed closed and wouldn’t unlock . With a special tool , Paul managed to release the lock and get it working again . Very skillful , we will get Paul to come back a service the locks on the door . ASAP.

Help we can't get the key out of our front door lock

First of all we experienced the calming and helpful voice of Sarah and then Paul arrived at speed. What a fabulous double act. While we were on the phone to Sarah she helped us remove the key although Paul needed to change the lock barrel. He was a pleasure to meet and a delight to have working on our front door. Nothing was too much trouble and we felt safe that Paul knew what to do and did it to a fabulous quality standard. Thank you Sarah and Paul and Lock Assist.

We always try to find out as much as possible on the phone or email so we can advise the customer, if possible, about what they could themselves to rectify the issue. A lot of the time, our advice saves you the cost of having to call someone out.
Lateral thinking replacement lock

I have an unsual Swedish-style timber-frame house. It has Swedish windows, Swedish gutters, Swedish drainpipes, Swedish doors. One of the external doors - the entry to the integral garage - had a high-security multi-point lock with three hooks connected to the doorframe. The hooks worked, but the lock that secured them in position failed. The choice was - replace the whole door and its frame at a cost of around £1,500 or use the existing mechanism and find a new way of making it secure. The answer: a set of three window locks to replace the broken lock for £153. They aren’t perfect - it takes a minute to secure them each evening, but they are almost as strong as the original hook locks. To latch the door takes one second. Brilliant!

This job needed a little more thought than usual as the Swedish locking system had lone been discontinued. However, we managed to come up with a solution that saved the great cost of having to order a new door!
