Locksmith Services is a family business established in 2009, based in Harpenden and covering Hertfordshire & Bedfordshire. We're a father and son team, Larry started locksmithing in 2005 and Dean his son started in 2015 after becoming a qualified carpenter.
Locksmith Services are open 24/7 for emergencies and aim to get to you within 30 minutes of your call where possible. We can supply and fit door and window locks to British standard and insurance requirements.
If you need a locksmith in Hertfordshire & Bedfordshire because you want your locks upgraded for extra security, locks changed or repaired then at Locksmiths Services we have the experience, expertise and the equipment that the job requires.
We do not charge a call-out fee or charge hourly. We charge a set labour fee plus the cost of any parts that may be required.

One of my locks had begun to be temperamental so I contacted Larry - his son Dean came the same day, checked it over and fitted a new lock immediately. Called this company to fix a PVC outside rear door whose lock had given up the ghost and was stuck, apparently permanently, in the locked position. They turned up promptly at the time arranged. The problem was quickly diagnosed and I was given options for various remedial actions. The technician was very helpful and explained why and what had to be done. He was also friendly and cleaned up after the work, all of which was done inside an hour. I can recommend this company highly.

This was the second time I have used this firm for locksmith services. Very helpful from the first phone call and rates/ costs were clearly stated upfront. Punctuality is good and communication between visits (parts needed to be ordered) was excellent. We had an upstairs window which we were unable to fully close - Dean was able to identify the issue and new hinges were ordered and he and Larry came back for the installation. Now I have a fully functioning window again! I will always use this firm for any further issues going forward and feel happy to recommend them.

With locks it's almost always an emergency. At the end of an afternoon, I feared that I would have to wait until the next day. So being told that Dean would be with me in two minutes was amazing and true. Our front door multi-point lock had jammed and we were no longer able to lock it. We contacted Locksmith Services and had a visit from Dean within the same day. He was polite and professional and quickly identified the issue - he explained the problem and made the necessary repairs straight away and left the lock as good as new. He was very knowledgable and even gave us some useful tips on how to maintain the lock to avoid similar problems in future. Our door lock broke. Dean was quick to respond to my request for help. He’s a lovely, approachable guy and I felt I could trust him straight away. My elderly housebound mum's key-safe stopped working. This is used by her carers to get in. I called in the morning, and as it had already been repaired once, asked for a replacement, and chose a different type, which would be less likely to fail. The first day I climbed through the window believing the problem with the lock was mine. Our front door lock froze totally. Keys would not move it. WD40 had no effect. Fortunately we were in the house when this happened. We rang Locksmith Services. They said they would be around later that afternoon. Larry arrived about an hour later. He quickly, and cheerfully, removed the old lock. He had an exact replacement in his van which he then fitted. I called Larry of Locksmith Services as I have used them before. He arrived promptly and quickly figured out what was wrong. He had to source new parts but came back to me the same evening to tell me he had the parts and arranged a new date to fit them. Again he arrived on time and completed the job quickly. I moved into a new property and wished to change the locks (yale and deadlock). Larry replied promptly to my initial email query. He automatically included the best practice British standard quality lock types in the quote (as required for cheaper home insurance). He kept in contact and arrived at the agreed time. He was pleasant to deal with and completed the work efficiently. He then checked that I was happy with the operation of the new locks, and tidied up after himself. He invoiced by email a few days later with simple payment options (I paid electronically). I would certainly call on him if I had any future requirements or in an emergency. Thanks Larry!
