M.Withall Landscapes are multi award winning Hard Landscape contractors working in London, Surrey, Kent and West Sussex.
Founded by Michael Withall who manages all works and has been working in this industry since the age of 17yrs.
We know from our own experience and knowledge passed down through the family that customer satisfaction and a high level of workmanship is the key to success in our industry.

ridiculous quote
I was very surprised to be asked for payment for a quote but, based on the very positive reviews, and the importance of the project I decided it was worth it. When Michael visited he seemed quite disinterested in the work. He asked very few questions and did not volunteer any ideas on drainage or go into the sort of details that the other companies we had quotes from did. I didn't see him measure up and when the quote arrived it had no measurements on it. The main problem however was that the quote was ridiculously expensive at over twice the amount of other quotes. We assumed from this that he did not want the work but we were left feeling like fools for paying for a quote when he had no intention of taking on the job. It may be that we have completely misinterpreted what happened but the other tradesmen we have contacted were adamant that no-one should have to pay for a quote.

The team arrived promptly and worked swiftly. There were some residual issues after the work was completed with some panels not having been fitted properly ie gaps or extra bits of wood to hold them in. Most of these were rectified promptly. I realise this may be due to the fact that I didn't replace all existing posts and gravel boards because they were in good condition and I didn't want the additional expense with the fences already costing quite a lot.

Michael and his team installed a gravel driveway in our property. From the start, Michael conveyed the impression that he wanted to do what was best for us. He gave good candid advice on the type of driveway that would work best, and didn't push us towards the more expensive solutions, and helped us settle on gravel. He and his team were responsive in clarifying/amending parts of the quote, and in getting samples for us to choose the cross-over stones. The quoted price was higher than competitors, but we selected Michael based on the quality of the previous works we saw and the obvious pride he takes in his work. He gave an approximate start date, which ended up about right. The works were done efficiently, with people and material arriving when required, without down time. This meant the driveway was installed in a week (including taking out the old tarmac, and digging for a deep sublayer). The team members were all very pleasant and the work area was kept clean and tidy. There was a minor misunderstanding on the size of cross-over stones which was discovered just before installation. Michael organised replacement stones without quibbles. The new driveway looks great. It is very flat and homogeneous. The cross-overs are very smooth, well-laid and look very smart. Overall, it was a great experience.

Michael and his crew are quite busy so it took a while after the two site visits he made to get a slot for the my work to be done. From beginning to end Michael liaised with me to ensure everything from beginning to end was as envisaged or better. They removed and then extended an old smaller patio area in antique silver Marshalls Indian sandstone and replaced two side garden perimeter fences. In addition to he original quoted work they also replaced my back gate with an upgrade and tiled a shed base to match it to the height and look of the patio area at no extra cost. His team were always ready to start work at 7.30am and worked through to 4pm every week day of the job. They were neat courteous and my neighbours were full of compliments for the way the treated the surrounding area. I was completely satisfied with the job done.

Whilst not as big a job as some that Michael and his team have completed, it was challenging because we wanted his work to integrate with our existing garden features. Michael used his experience to suggest materials that would complement the setting. His team were all friendly, professional, hard working and responsive to feedback. We are both really pleased with the result which does exactly “what it said on the tin” by enhancing our existing garden with an amazing patio area overlooking the new lawn and pathway. We have no qualms recommending Michael and his team to others considering landscaping work. The demolition stage is a bit traumatic but the final result easily knocks that into touch!

With Michaels advise and suggestions we decided to get our whole patio area replaced including the side of the house and front porch area and front garden. The work was done brilliantly, Dan and Billy were very professional, clean and tidy. The end result is that our garden has been transformed, with extra entertaining space and less grass to cut! They tidied as they went, but also ensured that the area was jet washed after the job. I would highly recommend Michael, he is a little more expensive than other quotes received, however the extra is well worth it.

We would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Michael and his team. They did an incredible job of transforming our garden into a haven of tranquillity and fun! Creating a stunning family patio area, a unique decked area incorporating a stunning 4m x 2m Koi pond with viewing window, water blade and LED strip lighting, chilled out beach area with sail, and to finish off, a secluded area behind a beautiful custom made fencing to hide the shed and gardening equipment. Michael listened to what we wanted from our garden and spent hours working on unique designs which he ran through with us until finalised. Michael’s precise attention to detail can be seen in every part of the garden. He communicated well throughout and the team that worked on the job were hard-working, polite and fun to have around. We would 100% recommend Michael and his team and would be happy to show anyone around who may want to have a look at the work done. Highly professional team led my Michael Withall who helped to design and plan our new patio from the start. Everyone involved on site were friendly, polite and very tidy. We were extremely impressed by the consideration given to our neighbours. Given the huge amount of coordination involved i.e. removal of waste and delivery of materials, various equipment arriving and leaving site, the entire process flowed extremely efficiently. If you can get Michael Withall and his team to come and do your landscaping work you can consider yourself very lucky indeed. Our job involved the removal of an overgrown conifer hedge and the erection of fencing in its place, demolition and rebuilding of our front brick wall and the resurfacing, with natural limestone paving, of the driveway and garden path. All this was meticulously and professionally carried out on time and on budget by a most cheerful and hard working team in the hottest spell of weather we've had for years. Do M. Withall Landscapes have our recommendation? Yes, absolutely!

We selected Michael and his team to carry out the extensive revamp of our garden following a series of interviews; we wanted to use the services of a local company and we're very impressed with his attitude and suggestions as to how to improve the design - this was especially important to us as we'd been finessing the project for some time. The lads always arrived on time and were courteous as well as cheerful; the standard of work was high and competed on time and to the budget agreed despite them constantly fighting with the horrendous amount of rain we had in January/February this year. Our fence was badly damaged in Storm Ciara. Michael's company came to our rescue. We had several different companies quote, but knew Michael would be the one we would get to do the work. From start to finish, the standard was high. No quick bodge post crete, proper solid concrete mix used, high quality Yale lock on door. Michael was so confident with his fence, his team put it up just before Storm Dennis, it didn't even flinch in the 80mph winds. Fence was installed within days of giving the green light. The team were great at leaving it clean and tidy, removing all rubbish and waste. Thanks you guys, appreciate it.

Coving all aspects of landscaping from pool terracing, driveway, walls, lawns and cobblestones placement. We did a lot of research before choosing Michael. I was impressed by his portfolio which shows he can build a variety of styles to suit different sites and clients’ requirements. Michael designs; he doesn’t follow a standard format. We ended up with something better than we envisaged. Michael improved on our ideas and made very good suggestions on materials and edging. Excellent finishing touches - never any shortcuts. We are most pleased with his advice to lay paving in a linear pattern, not random. Technically skilled with brickwork and creating a cedar screen. Our patio levels were awkward and we thought we might have to have steps but Michael was able to raise the level around the house and direct the flow towards the garden. A big improvement aesthetically and technically. The team of three were polite with neighbours and were pleasant to have around. The best job we’ve ever had done on the house. An investment.

After getting a couple of quotes I was introduced to Michael, his prices were very competitive and there was a good professionalism about the way he helped with showing examples of driveway and knowing what we wanted. Michael's brother did the work and the weather wasn't great but he and the others were all polite and friendly and fitted in around us. The worked was very detailed and immaculate. We were left with a driveway far better than we had envisaged, so I cant recommend them enough. The work didn't take long and we have been left with a great drive for the winter ahead.

I can't recommend MW Landscapers enough, from transparency on pricing and imaginative design to professional execution. It was a really complex job to excavate and remodel my back garden as it is on a slope with very awkward access, however the results are awesome. The front of the house has been transformed with new stone steps and walls, Michael and his team went to great lengths to finish the work to a very high standard. We were given a clear estimate which set out the likely costs. We felt that he was taking our wishes into account at this early stage while making suggestions as well. The new fences, gates and patio look good, and are neatly installed. The work was conducted tidily. All the debris were taken away, together with other rubbish we asked him to clear. Michael and his team recently removed a fence covered in ivy which came through from my neighbours garden, cut down huge tree and removed shed from my garden in terraced house , had to take everything through my house , cleaned up every day to my standards and delight. Very happy with the work done by Michael and his team. I felt confident about their ability to do the job throughout. Fencing, wall repairs, steps rebuilt and paving re-laid all to a high standard. They worked hard and cleaned up after themselves each day (important as everything had to come through the house). One important factor to me was that I never felt that I was being humoured or talked down to, which as a woman is a problem I have experienced with some tradesmen. Thank you.

They worked on our front garden which included complete new fencing, complete new lawning but the main job was building a new wall. They were quick and clean and courteous. They took all rubbish away. They did a superb job. People have stopped and commented about it.
