When I attended your property on Saturday evening, your boiler was leaking — a potential safety hazard. As a qualified Gas Safe engineer, it’s my duty to make unsafe appliances safe before further work. I therefore isolated the boiler in line with safety regulations, while ensuring your cooking facilities remained operational. This was done solely to protect your property and household. As your boiler was under five years old, I advised that it might still be under warranty to help you avoid unnecessary repair costs. I planned to confirm this and order parts on Monday, as suppliers are closed over the weekend. Unfortunately, communication delays contributed to the time before the issue could be progressed. The call-out fee reflects the emergency attendance, professional diagnosis, and safety work completed, regardless of time spent on site. While I understand another engineer later resolved the issue differently, my actions were appropriate and fully compliant with Gas Safe standards. I always aim to act with integrity, professionalism, and in my clients’ best interests. I regret that this led to dissatisfaction, but I hope this explanation provides clarity.
