Matrix Energy Systems is a Sheffield based company with a dedicated team of qualified energy efficiency experts. Formed in 2009, we have grown to become a leading provider of intelligent renewable energy, heating and cooling solutions in both the domestic and commercial markets.
Our experience has allowed us to write installer training manuals for the heat pump industry over the last 10 years and provide technical expertise into the MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) and GSHPA (Ground Source Heat Pump Association).
We design, install, test, commission and maintain all of our own work to the highest standards; this practice has allowed us to work throughout the UK, the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey.

Matrix Energy Systems quoted for and fitted home solar with battery storage. They were very accommodating of my questions, quote revisions and were clearly knowledgeable of the technology. Their quote was transparent and simple. The work was arranged to suit our schedule with other roof work, the work was completed to schedule and within budget. The work was tidy and as uninterruptive as possible. Both Joshua and Ryan were very professional whilst still being friendly and approachable, they were both happy to entertain my curiosity and answer my questions. The aftercare has been good to date.

I have a Viessmann open loop GSHP with integrated solar thermal installed by a different company 7 years ago. This year I started having problems with the GSHP. The original company that installed it had gone out of business leaving me with a problem. After speaking to Viessmann they advised Matrix energy and from my first contact they have been great. Helen in the office organises everything. After speaking to Paul he put me at ease and he quickly found the cause. I have every confidence in their skills and knowledge and recommend them to anybody with a GSHP.

As part of the major refurb of a 6-bed property, I wanted to change from gas CH to heat-pump space heating, and, from a lot of googling, MATRIX came across as a well reviewed, fully accredited company for this, to get a proper job done. Given my refurb plan, particularly the improved house insulation, they recommended a system and what pipework my builders should update (larger bore) for ASHP space heating, and installed the heat pump. Everything was done as much to date and plan as possible given that Lockdown struck during the build! The system is very quiet and the tenants are very happy with its performance.

Helen orchestrates everything from the office and she is absolutely brilliant at keeping on top of everything and keeping you in the loop - very proficient at paper work and dates. The fitters had a nightmare getting our old oil boiler out but were very professional and finished the new system, radiators and pipe work to a very high standard. The sub-contracted electrician, Scott, was also excellent. Will go back to him for any further electrical work. All workers tidied up and checked everything worked before leaving. We’re also looking at having an extension and Matrix have been fully supportive about coming to disconnect and re-connect the system when we have the work done and have built it into the quote. All round, excellent from the whole team.

Paul and Chris installed an Air Source Heat Pump back in 2014. We were converting a barn and they came highly recommended by our plumber who had worked with them before. Paul came to view the empty property and to go through our options with us, regarding ground source v’s air, different manufacturers with a completely non biased view towards any of them, just the pros and cons of each option which gave us invaluable information to enable us to make our decision. It was his and his colleagues’ passion for their jobs and knowledge of the equipment they were installing that made us go through them. Since our initial install, Paul, Chris and Lewis have completed our annual services when convenient to us, are always friendly, punctual, tidy and efficient. If a problem has arisen at any time, they have called immediately to ensure things are running smoothly even out of hours, late on a Friday night and have always been able to rectify the problem remotely even 5 years on!! We have recommended them to others who have asked who installed our equipment and will continue to do so.

Matrix have done 3 projects for me - a ground source heat pump installation in June 2017, a solar PV installation in August 2017, and a battery installation in September 2019. All 3 projects were completed on schedule and without any problems, and the installers were clean, polite, competent and hard-working. As a former engineer myself, I enjoyed talking to Paul Leedham and looking at his legendary pencil sketches as he explained how things worked! It's now February 2020 and all 3 systems are working perfectly. I would thoroughly recommend this company, which is run by engineers rather than sales people, and their after-sales service is very reliable. A superb company in a difficult market sector, well done to all Matrix staff.

Paul and his team did an excellent job installing a new ground source Viessmann heat pump for me. Paul took the time to make sure I understood the capacity and requirements necessary for our home with a number of sketches explaining the calculations etc. His team worked efficiently and ensured we had hot water as soon as possible, minimised the disruption and mess as well as explaining everything as they completed the work. Helen was always available at the end of the phone to handle any queries or admin issues with her friendly support. The team have been very prompt at getting back to me when I’ve contacted them with any questions or needed any support. The heating has been great over the winter and my family have been delighted with the increased hot water capacity and temperature. I would have no hesitation in recommending Paul and his team at Matrix Energy and it is fantastic to see they have been deservedly recognised recently with national awards, many thanks, David

I had been considering changing our heating source from our log burning stoves which fed the under floor heating and hot water to our home - due to ill health the continual feeding of the stoves was proving challenging. With research into an ASHP I found Matrix online via Which. Paul's knowledge and expertise in incorporating the system into our existing one convinced me to install the ASHP. I was quite hesitant at first of how it could work but Paul reassured me that it would maintain the house at the temperatures set. It's the best thing we did. Paul and his team work professionally and are very considerate their standard of work is excellent. I can't praise the team highly enough, a dream team. On a couple of occasions we had a small problem, with a phone call Paul was there the same day and fixed the problem. It was a pleasure to meet the team and have such a high standard of workmanship. Highly recommended.

Our Ground Source Heat Pump installation had been abandoned due to collapse of the company supplying it and attempts to get it working by the manufacturer and companies recommended by the manufacturer all failed. Fortunately, a chance conversation with the supplier of external equipment lead me to Paul at Matrix Energy. He came to the site for a day and examined the system and identified a number of faults and deter what needed to be done to complete the installation. Subsequently, he returned with members of his team and corrected faults, completed the installation and got the heat pump running like a swiss watch. He also completed installation of the underfloor heating system, balancing the heat flow and adding corrosion inhibitors and biocides to prevent future problems. He has now carried out two annual services and a third is scheduled during which time the system has been reliable, efficient and economical to run. More importantly, Paul has always been available on the end of the phone to offer advice and help to tweak the system to our individual needs. I have no hesitation in recommending Matrix Energy who are true ambassadors for the technology and have provided outstanding service and have engendered implicit faith in their ability.

We have had an Air Source Heat Pump recently installed in a new build house. Matrix Energy Systems have been responsible for the installation, the checking of the system and the follow up service. I can't rate them high enough! Paul has been a pleasure to work with, he is knowledgeable, very supportive and has patiently explained to us how the system operates. When my ASHP stopped working I phoned my service engineers Matrix Energy Systems and they returned my call within 30 minutes. They were able to fit in a visit at the end of the same day and solved he problem within half an hour. An air lock was preventing the correct flow in the internal unit. Matrix put in 2 air source heat pumps which run on solar and fresh air. Believe it or not, they finished ahead of schedule because of all the pre-planning Paul Leedham did. The site manager was concerned about having these guys on sight because of the area not having been worked on for 30 years, it looked like a site that had been bombed in WWII, but they were an absolute pleasure to work with and he learnt a lot off Matrix Energy. The guy that runs the company has offered the service to other clients as well.

We had had solar panels, PV and thermal installed on our house by a company and we had problems with it form the word go. It was identified by the manufacturers of the boiler and they recommend Matrix to us, who were doing work for them, to come and do work for us. They've been with us ever since and have been fantastic and rectified the terrible issues from before. Nothing is too much trouble, they come back and do the service for us every year and I can ring any time. I couldn't speak highly enough of them. Sometimes we have to wait for bigger jobs, because they're busy, but we're more than happy to do that. MY mother and myself live together and I have certain physical and mental health problems and my mother is elderly, so they know we're vulnerable. I know if we had trouble, they'd come straight away. I want them because I know they do it properly. They were so careful, it was finished off beautiful, you wouldn't know it'd been done. They've really tried to tailor everything to us and they try to get that optimum balance between making the most of our eco balance and making the house usable for us. Very nice, personable set of gentleman. Anybody would be safe in their hands. We are considering getting an electric vehicle and I had a long conversation with the gentleman about that and we'll be reviewing it next march.
