M Collins Builders Ltd. did various work on the front of the house including repointing, painting, resealing windows and replacement of tiles. And inside the house the entrance to the loft was enlarged and a loft ladder installed and new insulation and boards put down in the loft. There was very quick and good communication with Michael from the quote through till the end of the job. All the work was done to a very high standard and the team on site were always friendly and professional. We are particularly pleased with the front of the house where we feel the team went above and beyond and it now looks brilliant.

Michael’s team rebuilt a garden wall that had collapsed. The work was on budget and Lee, who did the bricklaying, was an absolute pleasure to have own site; courteous, punctual and tidy. We’re very pleased with the end result and would recommend.

M Collins building Ltd team repaired the brickwork and woodwork including the sash window frames on the front of the house, stripped and repainted the exterior including the front door where new secure glass panels were fitted to the door and above it. Internally, he replaced/repaired the top hall floorboards and some of the joists in the bathroom and re tiled where necessary. In the kitchen he replastered damaged walls and completely replaced the ceiling. They installed sunken spotlights and repaired and strengthened the wood flooring. The work was carried out to a very high standard and the team were really helpful and communicative every step of the way; any unexpected finds while carrying out repairs (especially the house exterior) was communicated to us immediately and options given as how to move forward. Due to unforeseen issues discovered with sections of the external brickwork, the work took slightly longer than anticipated, but not unduly and it went forward by mutual agreement resulting in an excellent, robust quality finish. We were consulted at every stage of the building work, and the guys were really knowledgeable, very experienced, professional and really helpful. Michael was very approachable, and communication was excellent throughout. I would fully recommend this building company, and will use again in the future.

With Mike and Greg, you will get an excellent job, expertly finished and attention to detail. It seems they can do anything and in a timely manner. Really nice, respectful guys too.

M Collins Builders Ltd. removed an old fireplace at our flat and fitted a new one (including widening the chimney, plastering, fitting a hearth etc.). We had a great experience from start to finish. Michael was responsive and came out quickly to provide a quote. He was also helpful in advising on where to source the hearth and collecting it for us. Greg was also a pleasure to have around - we're delighted with the result and his attention to detail, as well as how clean he left everything after each day of work. The quote was also accurate. Cannot recommend enough!

Michael undertook a major renovation of our kitchen and we have nothing but good things to say about his work, and that of Greg, his foreman. They were a pleasure to work with from beginning to end. Greg is a really talented, methodical and painstaking builder who took enormous care with the work and was so nice that we still miss seeing him every day! The quality of their work is so good that people are amazed to hear that our kitchen is from Ikea - it looks far more high-end and that's because of their attention to detail and their skill. They are highly experienced, really trustworthy and always left the house in as immaculate state as it could be given the disruption of the build. We're really delighted with the work and can't recommend them more highly.

Michael helped us with several repair works around our flat when we first moved in. He was very helpful and didn't let us down even when more issues surfaced.

I needed repair to an external wall of my Victorian house. I contacted Michael in May and he got back to me quickly to arrange visit to view, and followed up with a reasonable quote. Understandably he had other jobs on so it was not possible to start the work for a few months. Michael's bricky Lee came to look at the wall on 1st September, and was able to start work that same day, and sourced similar bricks locally. Lee was clearly experienced and was a considerate worker, and interesting to talk to. He did a great job making good the damaged area, lining up the bricks better than the wonky original and finished off the work the following day, leaving the area clean and tidy.

Michael is a lovely professional man, he came round with one of his team Lee and quoted to fix/rebuild our outside steps and clear the area. I have been burned before and so was not the easiest of customers but Lee and Michael's son weren't phased, did a terrific job, were friendly, informative and worked very hard. The space looks beautiful now. Would recommend this company, they're highly skilled, reliable and trustworthy.

Michael's son took care of this project and worked with a small team to completely renovate our one-bedroom flat. He was helpful throughout and provided recommendations and guidance on best practice using his experience and where the designs we had were not necessarily correct - e.g. height of the new shower head. He was also accommodating of extra requests such as replacing skirting where not initially planned. The quote was accurate and there were no hidden costs when we received the invoices. Michael even checked that his remaining costs were aligned with ours before sending his final bill. We did have a couple of issues during the project but these were resolved quickly with Michael's help at no extra cost. After completion of the project and during snagging, we noticed some damage caused on the inside of new cabinets (e.g. where the washing machine had not been installed correctly and had to be pulled back out). The dishwasher had also not been installed correctly and an engineer from the manufacturer had to fix this. The project overran on initial estimates by 4 weeks. This was partly due to additional tasks we requested and but delays were not always communicated properly and with sufficient notice.

Michael is very personable and turned up on time. We had the entrance of out building upgraded and he was able to provide a number of suggestions that we eventually took up. The work was delivered to a high standard. When we had issues with the lock a couple of months after installation - he was there to fix it within 2 hours of me email him. Would highly recommend

Michael and Niall were extremely friendly and communicated clearly with me. They removed the radiators very quickly and efficiently, and they also ordered and fitted the skirting boards carefully and filled them. I would thoroughly recommend them to anyone looking to have building work done. They are reliable, hard-working and very skilled.

Michael’s firm did a great job on our house extension and the follow up care for minor adjustments was always prompt and well done. We have enjoyed our lovely new space

I asked for an old garden shed to be demolished and taken away. Quite a nasty messy job, especially because it has been wet recently. Also it all had to be taken away through the house. Michael Collins came the morning after I contacted him to assess the job, sent the estimate within the time he had promised, and the shed has been removed on the agreed day. They did it very quickly, and carried all the debris through the house without making any mess, and cleared up afterwards. Very nice guys, too. Would certainly use again.

We hired M Collins builders for what was meant to be a 4-5 month extension and interior refurb on our 2 bedroom Victorian flat. Now 12 months down the line it is still not finished. Their work has turned our lives upside down and caused inordinate and unnecessary stress. In summary, they took on more than they were capable of. Despite having a minor works JCT contract and clear lines of communication open at all times during the project, M Collins surprised us twice at critical stages of the build by abandoning the site in order to get more money out of us. After this happened for the second time (despite us paying 95% of amount due upon completion with approx 20% to be completed), we discovered that he had not built our retaining garden wall according to the engineering specification (with no foundations) and that the steel beams had not been signed off by the council's building control. With the flat in a precarious situation we decided enough was enough in Dec last year and are still going through a process of formal complaint and resolution using the Ombudsman service because M Collins was not prepared to fix what he had done wrong without us paying more. He appears to be a nice local builder but we experienced no professionalism, no respect for our project management and bullying tactics to extort more money. The project fell behind his schedule of projects so he outsourced work to incompetent traders and moved his foreman to other projects. Please do not use.

Mike’s team refurbished our bathroom and they did a fantastic job. They were very clean, tidy and considerate and we enjoyed having them around. The bathroom looks fantastic and it’s exactly what we wanted! Would highly recommend.

Having completed shared freehold between the 4 flats we employed Michael Collins for our first major work. Complete overall of all exterior front and back. Brick, render and woodwork. The work was carried out with complete professionalism even to the point of discovering and repairing a pillar the damage to which had not been apparent at time of tender. All work completed to top standard and on time So impressed were we with them, we in the ground floor flat engaged them to remove our bath, install new walk in shower and decorate. They designed the best option and carried out the work with friendly and impeccable service They will be our go-to company for any further work, either privately or through the shared freehold company.

Where to start? I hired Michael Collins Builders to install a kitchen and my entire interaction has been stressful, slow, expensive and aggressive. They will promise things verbally and go back on their word, provide budgets and timelines to win business that they have no intent on keeping. My job took more than twice as long, cost 50% more than quoted and was left unfinished and in a dangerous state (which I was only informed of many months after it was supposedly finished). Michael presents himself as a reliable, genial local builder, but after he is engaged quickly deteriorated into being stubborn, unhelpful, defensive and at times outright threatening. He presented invoices for thousands of pounds without informing us of the cost of extra work beforehand and then demanded to be paid within 2 days, leaving aggressive messages on phone, text and email. It is a shame because he has some nice, capable people working for him, but his leadership and approach to customer interactions is abysmal. Do not be fooled into hiring this outfit. It will cost way more than you will expect in time, money and hassle. Avoid. p.s. I write this in the full knowledge that I will receive more hostile messages from Michael over the coming days. However, on reflection this site was how I discovered and hired this outfit and only works if people leave honest reviews of their experiences.

We found water on our kitchen worktop and realised that water was coming through the wall as the downpipe from the guttering had become disconnected. Luckily for us Michael was working nearby and responded to our call for help with amazing speed and reconnected the pipe. He was so helpful and I have never had such wonderful service.

We had an extension done on the back of our house. This was a large job done in winter. Despite the weather we found the whole project far less stressful than I anticipated. The workforce were always cheery to have around. They were prompt, hard working and competent. The work has been done to high standard and there have only been minor tweaks that were always promptly attended to. The after service was so good we used them to refurbish our bathroom last year. We are also very pleased with that too. We were slightly over time and budget, but nothing that I didnt expect.

Michael and his team were asked to correct poor drainage on our patio and re-lay the patio, patio walls, reinforce garden fencing etc. We live in a ground floor flat so there is nowhere for excess water to go. The work was completed on budget (quote was reasonable). Michael was the only trader who turned up to quote for the whole job, was willing to give us a start date and turned up to complete the job! During that time, his experienced foreman was unable to work due to unforeseen circumstances but this did not unduly affect the completion of the work. While work was under way, Michael called in person to check on progress and was always polite and returned our phone calls. The work done by his team has stood the test of time.

Michael and his team have completely renovated our house including an extension in the back of the house, raising the roof, replacing the old garden, repositioning and installing a new kitchen, building a new wc on the ground floor, putting in two new fireplaces, replacing wooden floor, putting in new boiler and heating system, and removing two chimneys in two bedrooms, all according to the architectural plan. The work was completed to a very high standard. Michael is very friendly and very reliable - always provides his honest opinion. Some builders disappear after the work is done, but Michael is always there. There was a time when there was a leaking pipe problem, we called a plumber for emergency call-out and he suggested to break the floor and the antique floor tiles. We then called Michael who came with his son immediately and fixed the pipe without damaging the floor and the tiles, which showed how knowledgable he was in comparison to the other builder. We highly recommend him.

Michael and his team helped refurbish my 3-storey Neo-Georgian house and created an open plan layout for the kitchen. This involved the installation of 9 beams as specified in the construction drawings. The team also skimmed and painted the house all to a very high standard. trades even told me that this work was a high standard! I am very pleased with the end result and I enjoyed working with the team.

Michael responded quickly to my initial enquiry, coming to see and discuss the work required within a day or so and providing a quotation the next day. There were two jobs required - repairing the floorboards and extending the joists under a bay window, and installing a new Velux window in the loft room. The latter involved the erection of a scaffold tower to give access to the roof. Apart from a small delay due to his scaffolders having to go away at short notice, all the work was done promptly and on time. The different tradesman were all considerate and polite. The standard of work was excellent, and we were very pleased with the outcomes. Throughout the process, Michael maintained good communication with us and visited most days. Overall he was attentive, flexible and reliable. His invoice at the end was the same as the original quotation. We will certainly use him again if necessary and would recommend him to others.

Michael and his son Niall responded very quickly when my landing ceiling collapsed. They completed a great job and worked all day Saturday to finish the work. I warmly recommend this building firm.

Michael is a very experienced builder whose work was of very good quality. Michael completely renovated a bathroom, kitchen, dining room and conservatory. His work was of good quality, and at a reasonable price. After the work was completed there were a couple of small snagging jobs and he was very responsive. Happy to recommend him and we'd use him again.
