Michael Rose Painting Services

I want to share my personal experience and how I felt from the service I received back in 2021 from Mr Rose’s Painting Service. I hired Mr Rose to decorate my kitchen (10ft by 12ft), he quoted xyz with a deposit of £925.00 up-front, my lapse in questioning Mr Rose why he was asking for a large amount up-front when he had not completed any work to that value. “One might say it was a bit of a lapse, but one does tend to take people on trust until one has some reason to doubt their credibility.” The final straw for me was when the paintwork blistered, after that I did not allow Mr Rose to return. Personally I will not be using Mr Rose again as I have no trust or faith in him or his work. It is a shame I did not read John’s google review before I hired him and agree with John’s comment about being out of pocket and will need to pay again to get the work done properly. Or shall I live in hope that Mr Rose will do the right thing and return my funds one day?? As I ask Mr Rose to return part of my funds paid (£600.00), after speaking to another decorator he mentioned what I had offered was reasonable and “surprised he did not jump at the offer as a poor review can be detrimental to your business”, Mr Rose replied with an unpleasant e-mail, which I felt disappointed by. Shame I cannot attach the photos of his work, like the saying goes: “a picture is worth a thousand words”

We enthusiastically recommend Michael Rose. The exterior of our house needed mending and repainting. The work was planned methodically, the repairs were carried out thoroughly and we were informed at every stage. The work was done to the agreed schedule and budget. Michael and his co-workers, Joe and Alfie, take obvious pride in their work. Our every wishes were taken into consideration and at the end of every day, the site was left tidy. Michael is an obvious professional. The house now gleams from top to bottom.

Michael and his team just repainted my first floor windows. They did a great job. They arrived on time both days and were very polite, friendly and professional. They used sheets under the painting areas and were very tidy. The quote was also reasonable.

I can thoroughly recommend Michael Rose and his team. Michael has taken the time to train his team and they produce outstanding, high quality work whilst maintaining a thoughtful, client orientated relationship during the whole process. They were punctual, clean and efficient. Michael was present two or three times a day to check or help with the work an important factor when working for older people who are often present throughout the whole job. Michael is good value for money, no hidden or extra costs. All the work was completed as quoted and within the timeframe. Definitely 5star!!

Michael responded to my initial email enquiry very quickly. He came round on the agreed specified day and the quote came the day after that. The price was what I had expected to pay for the job. He was polite and courteous as were his staff. They were very diligent in the placing of dust sheets, covered the windows in plastic and even covered the neighbours cars to avoid any accidental splashes (the house is terraced so we are close to the neighbours) and always cleared up at the end of the day. The colour we chose from the swatch card turned out to be much brighter than we’d expected when it was painted on the door. Michael went to the trouble of going to the Dulux supplier and picking up several sample pots so that we found a colour we were satisfied with. Excellent customer service

Michael and his team were outstanding.Friendly,courteous and professional at all times. Dealt with problems that arose without complaint, and called in other contractors when unable to do jobs themselves. Job was delivered on budget and on time.Went the extra mile to ensure we were happy with the end result.Took care clearing up,and removed all detritus.Many neighbours have walked by and complimented us on how good the house looks now. We are extremely pleased with the outcome,would not hesitate to use Michael again, and would highly reccomend Michael Rose painting to anyone.

We had to wait a few weeks as Michael is busy but it was well worth it. He remedied some plaster on the ceiling and painted our sitting room, which is a large high-ceilinged room. It looks beautiful and he was reliable, trustworthy and pleasant throughout. Would definitely recommend him.

Michael and Alfie, his assistant did an outstanding job with which I am thrilled. A price was agreed for the work on the wood cladding externally and the interior of the porch on my house. This price was kept to. However, I requested more be done than had originally been agreed and accepted the additional cost of painting the garage door and front door, as well as one or two minor things I had originally overlooked. Everything was fair and transparent. The work was carried out with maximum protection for surroundings at all times. Michael saw to it that on the cladding and all surfaces his work would provide longevity and protection. Michael also let me know at all times if he had to change the hour of arrival slightly and gave me accurate time estimates of how long individual pieces of the work would take. He is immensely helpful. I can vouch for his skill and total professionalism at all times and in all areas of his business. He guarantees his work for two years and I know I can call him should I need him on this or a new painting project. Thank you Michael, Alfie and Which.

Michael and Alfie did a very good job of decorating all our rooms. Michael kept us informed the whole time. They were friendly, smart and professional. Any snagging was sorted promptly and with no issues.

I had a very positive experience with this firm from start to finish. After the initial visit, the quote arrived promptly and was clearly and comprehensively itemised. All communications leading up to the work were likewise clear and questions were promptly responded to. When the work began, I was always hovering over them to make sure that it was being done to my satisfaction. It quickly became apparent however that Michael and Alfie take great pride in their work and took time to execute the preparatory stage with skilful ease and attention to detail. Every care was taken to ensure that I was happy with the results and the work carried out to my porch in particular, exceeded my expectations. Together they worked their socks off throughout the July heatwave, never complaining, always pleasant and polite and somehow managing to look cool and professional in their white overalls. The work was completed in a timely manner and at the agreed price. An unexpected bonus was the window cleaner they commissioned to complete the project! Michael & his assistant Alfie painted the gables and the facia at the front and down the side of my bungalow. They were professional polite and friendly. Each stage of the process from preparation to repair to finishing top coats was explained to me. The quality and standard of the work were excellent and nothing was too much trouble for them. The cost was fair and the work was completed when they said it would be. The area was left clean and tidy. I'm delighted with the result and would not hesitate to recommend them. 5 stars, thank you Michael & Alfie for a job well done.

Michael and his team did a superb job on the exterior of our home. It was many years since the previous external decoration and so required very thorough preparation on the masonry and generally making good prior to painting. We were very pleased indeed with the level of care taken over this groundwork and this meant that the quality of the finished job was evident. They were very pleasant to have around - always friendly and polite - and we always felt able to communicate and discuss any queries with them. I would have no hesitation in recommending them.

From start to finish we were extremely impressed with the work Michael and Alfie did when painting the outside of the house. He and Alfie did an excellent job with the additional work I had for them redecorating and repairing the walls in my kitchen, bathroom, and hallway. Michael made minor repairs and painted the exterior of our house leaving a great job, kept me informed throughout the job to exactly what he was doing and when he was going to be on site. Michael is a very polite and friendly person to talk to and completed the work at the agreed price.

Michael has just finished painting the front, back and side of our house. He was really easy to work with, kept us fully informed and handled everything from scaffolding to a complete clean of all outside surfaces before painting. He included some additional repointing and repairs to our sash window frames and window sills. Nothing was rushed, skipped or bodged and he also started and finished when he said he would. Michael Rose Painting Services provided a service (exterior and interior painting) which was of the highest quality and completed well in advance of the estimated completion date. The team was friendly, diligent, responsive to amendments to the brief and, clearly, took pride in the work. Having had no luck finding a local painting/decorating company to quote for work at our house and having seen Michael Rose's vehicle/vehicles in our area regularly for many years, we decided he must be doing something right and gave him a call. We were not disappointed. Michael, apart from being approachable and friendly, was straightforward to deal with and transparent/honest with respect to his availability and costs. Once the work started it was carried out as agreed, very professionally, on time and to a great standard. Many of the neighbours and passers-by also commented on the great job done. Michael was also helpful in finding/recommending other contractors for us when other work transpired (that's if he couldn't do it himself, which he often could). We experienced no issues at all with Michael, the communication was great throughout and, in fact, I would say it was a pleasure having him and his colleague Alfie work at our house. They were both courteous, helpful and polite at all times, as well as great at what they do. Michael was very conscious of leaving a good impression which he did in abundance, even arranging for our windows to be cleaned once all the work was completed. Each night the work areas were left clean and tidy too. We couldn't have asked for more to be honest and were more than happy that we finally gave Michael that call. I guess the ultimate question is, would we contract more work to Michael or recommend his service? Yes, definitely.

During their redecoration of the exterior of a large Victorian house, consisting of three flats, Michael, assisted by Alfie, did some extra work on my ground floor flat, notably repairing and painting the cellar entrance and the conservatory. I confirm my neighbour's report on the excellency of their work on the house as a whole, including many extra jobs such as tackling longstanding problems such as pigeon-roosting and blocked gutters and pipes. Their work on my flat was also meticulously and cheerfully carried out. It was a pleasure to have them working for us!

Together with my neighbours, I booked Michael Rose to carry out the external painting of our converted Victorian property. It was a large and complex job. Michael and his assistant Alfie were great to work with. Both were courteous and professional throughout their time at our property. They turned up on time and just got on with the job. Each morning Michael would pop in to say hello and update me with the jobs he was going to do that day. I would also walk round the property with him and he’d show the progress. It was great to have our house painted by someone who takes such pride in their work. The finished look is just wonderful. Whilst Michael was on site we were able to tap in to his knowledge and he was able to find tradespeople to carry out some additional jobs, like repointing and repairing a damaged wall. We also asked Michael to clean the gutters, adding some gutter guards, and filling in a hole from a redundant boiler. In each costs were clear, transparent and very reasonable. Overall it was great to work with Michael and my neighbours and I are all really happy with the work he has done for us.

We are delighted with the exterior redecoration work to our property carried out by Michael and Noah. All window sills, doors and their surrounds, together with the walls of our rear addition have been restored to their former state of glory! We were particularly impressed by the meticulous attention given to the repair and preparation of surfaces prior to repainting and to the repointing of brickwork that was found to be required. Verbal communication was excellent - we were kept well informed of progress, arrival and departure times throughout. They were both very friendly and approachable and couldn’t have been more helpful, regularly checking in with us that the work had been carried out to our satisfaction, carrying out little extras when requested and arranging complimentary cleaning of the windows afterwards. I asked Michael Rose to repaint my son's bedroom. The quality of the finished work is exceptional. We got great advice on colour choice and his small friendly team were a pleasure to have in our home. Punctual, professional, courteous and left my home cleaner than they found it! Michael Rose did a great job painting the outside of my house. He previously painted my porch and front door and I had him back to do sills and building skirt. He also found somebody to repoint and fix some other issues. He is onsite personally and his small team are really nice people and very polite and courteous. I know I can trust him on the price and quality of his materials. He turns up on time, communicates well and is very accommodating to requests and tweaks on the job. Michael Rose did an excellent job of external painting on our house - wall, soffits, front door, garage door, drainage pipes and window sills. He and his assistants came on time, worked consistently through the day, were polite and tidy, and made an excellent job of the painting. We would be happy to have him back.

We asked Michael to paint our hallway, including the wood bare treads and risers on the stairs & also our living room, which was showing its age! We didn't think there was all that to it at first, to be honest, but seeing the quality of work, attention to detail, knowledge of the products used and the skill that Michael and his team applied throughout the course of the work was an eye-opener. They turned up punctually on every day of the project and their customer care was high level; including informing us exactly what they were about to do at each stage and constantly checking that we were happy with the progress and finish with every area of the wall and woodwork that they touched. Michael painted our house externally, including the sash windows, masonry and front door in lewisham. Very happy to recommend - he was great at checking everything had been done to our satisfaction and also went above and beyond to finish on time when poor weather meant he fell a bit behind.

I needed to get a vacant flat decorated internally and found Michael Rose online. He couldn't have been more accommodating or obliging; a pleasure to deal with. We have used Michael Rose for smaller and larger paint jobs both inside and outside the house for many years and on each occasion been very satisfied with the execution. We watched Michael doing a very thorough job on a house opposite ours and this was followed by him doing a similar job on their neighbours' house. We have no hesitation in recommending Michael for painting services. We booked him to paint the exterior of our house and restore some wooden window frames. Appointed Michael Rose as a local trader to paint the exterior walls of our house, including guttering and downpipes. A fixed price for the work was offered and agreed, to include all access scaffolding. The work started a little later than target, but not of any consequence, and proceeded effectively and thoroughly, having to accommodate some limitations on his operation because of our lockdown shielding. He always kept us informed of his progress and working plans. And he finished within the expected timeframe. The scaffolding was arranged and effected smoothly and as planned. The weather throughout was dry and hot. Workmanship was good with thoughtful attention to details as they occurred. All windows and frames were covered as needed as the work progressed. The site was left tidy at the end of each day. The project included a complete and thorough clean of all windows and window frames (aluminium and PVC so not painted) on completion and the jet cleaning of the patio which had been his main work area. We were not aware of this element at the start but thought it a really good way to finish the job, and shows an attention to detail and customer satisfaction. Michael himself was pleasant and communicative. And we were quite happy to leave the house unattended on occasions.

We have used Michael Rose numerous times in the past and would have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone. This time we needed a large shed painted and also an outside kitchen window repaired and painted Michael is professional, punctual and good value and comes in on his quotes. Michael painted the exterior of my small, terraced house: windows, window frames, doorframe, sills, and soffits (and a bit of brickwork). He also tidied up a bit of damaged concrete for me. My house had not been touched for 25 years so there was a fair bit of preparatory work to do which he tackled with skill and determination. The work was done to a high standard and, importantly, done when he said he would do it. Michael got on with the job at hand, was friendly and cleaned up at the end of each day. What a joy that was compared to some others. As it is, it looks like Michael is now painting many of the other houses in the street as my neighbours have seen what a good job he has done. I look at the outside of my house each day and think “good job”, what more can you ask?

We were extremely pleased with Michael Rose's work when he decorated the outside front of our house. He took great pride and care, preparing surfaces repeatedly on all areas. These included: the fascia board, stone offit, two sash windows and reveals, stone string course and plinth. The area around the front door looks stunning, where he repaired the lower threshold, using three coats throughout. I can highly recommend him. He is punctual and approachable. I have lived in this house for 30 years and have never experienced such high quality work. Indeed, there are nine houses is my terrace and he will be working on the fourth on Monday, all to the same high standard.

Michael did some interior paintwork for me after I had a leak in my kitchen. Work was carried out to a high standard - he takes a lot of pride in his work, which was really refreshing, and makes him stand out from other traders, who often just want to finish the job quickly, rather than do it properly. Workplace was left clean and tidy upon completion of work. Very pleased with the results, I would hire him again when I need more work done. He was friendly, polite, honest, and his communication skills were good - mostly by phone, so it was a lot quicker than endless texts going back and forth.

Michael quoted for repairing and painting the soffits, weatherboards, sills, and window frames on my Victorian semi. He provided a very reasonable quote, that included scaffolding, and did the work to a very high standard. I can't praise his approach enough. He kept me informed all the way through the work he was doing and any issues with the job. He was punctual, tidy, and reliable. He definitely went over and above what was expected. The work came in within the quote even though there were extra bits, such as pointing that needed repair and gaps around the drain that needed filling. Michael carried out full exterior repair and paint work on the back of the house, plus some painting of the door and porch at the front. We are very happy with the quality of the work. Michael is a friendly and reliable worker who kept us well informed throughout the job.

I cannot praise Michael Rose Painting Services highly enough. From the first meeting Michael was friendly, engaging and enthusiastic. He looked at my shabby 1930's semi detached with it's tired paintwork and cracked render and declared that he could transform it… and transform it he did! His ideas and suggestions were sensible, and he told me exactly how he would carry out the work, how long it would take and what the financial cost would be. And he didn't deviate from any of it. Michael always arrived at the same time each morning, unless he had told me otherwise, and never left anything half done, sometimes staying later than anybody could reasonably expect of him. Michael's pride in his work shines out. He constantly updated me on progress and checked that I was happy at all stages of the work. This is the second time we’ve used Michael and his team for painting, and his work was excellent again. We’re happy with all our newly painted walls, and he repaired a damaged mantelpiece which now looks as good as new. Michael is a lovely chap, nice to talk to and always keen to get our opinions on his work; he kept us fully informed of progress and any snags, and did extra bits and bobs along the way for free, which was greatly appreciated.

Michael and his team painted the white render on our house, first filling all the cracks carefully, and then putting a few coats of high-quality paint on top. The team also scraped and and painted our peeling wooden shutters. Throughout the work, Michael kept us informed of what was being done on that day and what the next stage would be. He had us check everything at the various stages to make sure we were happy with the work. He was very friendly and helpful and did everything according to the agreed budget. Michael did a small job for me, painting an external door and making good the woodwork around it. He was punctual and kept me informed about when he would arrive. The standard of the work was good, and although he added a small amount to the original quote, which I agreed to, I felt it was justified as he had to visit the house several times to dodge the incessant rain showers. He is hard-working, pleasant and polite. I would certainly use him again.

Michael and his team painted my hallway upstairs and down as well as the stairs themselves. He is prompt, courteous, helpful and a true gentleman. Michael communicated with me well even before the job started. He undertook the work exactly when he said and visited even during bank holidays and weekends to finish the job. We asked Michael and his team to repaint the full exterior of our two-story end-of-terrace house - a major job. The work has been completed to the highest standard. His meticulous attention to detail, even wrapping a neighbour's car in plastic in case of wind-blown paint drops, was remarkable. He also took it on himself to paint our front gate, made good recommendations on details of the job, and he and all his team members were friendly, on time, and always took care not to be disruptive (not that we would have minded!). Michael also dealt with some tricky scaffolding arrangements with the local council, and arranged for a person to clean our roof (who also did a good, careful job). I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Michael, great value for money especially considering the very high quality of the work, and we're already making arrangements for him to come back and paint parts of the interior. Michael and his assistant Perry painted the exterior of our house during the hottest fortnight of 2018. They started the job on the agreed date, and despite the extreme heat never slackened their efforts and completed the job on the day promised. The final result is excellent, but the Michael's great strengths are his attention to the preparation, which is so important, and to detail. After finishing the job, Michael returned after the scaffolding was dismantled to check that everything was all right, and spent another half day putting on the finishing touches.
