Fitted us in at short notice, spent a whole day doing various jobs, explained what he was doing and charged us exactly as originally quoted, although some of the work had unexpected complications which some tradesmen would have used as an excuse to ask for extra payment. Yes, I would certainly recommend him!

I contacted Dave in the afternoon last week, as we were experiencing lighting problems in our bathroom (via a pull cord). Basically we had no lighting, due to a shortened wire. Dave advised that he would come and 'have a look' that evening, although dependent on the potential size of the job, he might not be able to fit us in for a good few weeks. Thankfully Dave (assisted by his son) was able to complete the job there and then in around 20 mins, which was a real bonus for us. Dave was friendly and informative throughout and I'd not hesitate to use him again for any electrical work. The cost of the repair was minimal and his fully booked diary is clearly an indication of the quality of his workmanship. Thanks Dave!

We phoned Dave after reading the fantastic reviews on which local. We were lucky he had a cancellation and was able to come within a couple of days. He moved some power points but was also able to put in a new power point and trunking for a wall mounted tv during the visit without any prior notice. He was really easy to deal with and very nice and straightforward in his approach. Costs were reasonable. Would definitely use him again and would wait for him to be available if he wasn't immediately free!

I am a 66 year old pensioner, and recently used David Newman to fit 5 outside security lights, 2 garden lights and six Drive way lights, he is the best Electrican I have ever used by a country mile, honest, hard working and completely reliable, I will never use any one else. The only problem with David is, he's booked up for a month, but well worth the wait. Steve

Had Dave over for three jobs: to fix a non functioning dimmer switch; replace a sensor light in the porch and repair a burnt out extractor fan. Dave repaired the dimmer switch very quickly; fitted a new porch light and gave advice on part required for the extractor fan. The advice was useful and two of the three jobs have been completed. Dave was punctual when appointments were made and his costs were very reasonable. I would definitely recommend Dave and will call him again for any other electrical jobs required in my home.

I had a 15a MCB that kept tripping taking out power to living room and bedroom sockets. Struggled for days and even with the help of another electrician couldn't resolve the problem. Searched for electricians on Which Local and called Dave Newman after reading his reviews. He diagnosed and fixed the problem over the phone in under 5 minutes! Thoroughly professional, didn't even try to suggest a call out (others would have jumped at the chance of some easy money) and most importantly very knowledgeable. If I need ANY electrical work done in the future Newman's Electricals will be my FIRST choice. Thanks Dave!

We are delighted that we found Dave Newman on Which Local. We had just undertaken a major building project and were desperate to find a good electrician. It was third time we used Dave Newman, this time was to install a new electric cooker. It was meant to be a quick job, but we didn't know that it needed a housing unit. He improvised a solution after struggling to negotiate a gas pipe which was in the way. We offered him an extra payment, but he refused. All this happened while he was not feeling well. If this 'going the extra mile' does not earn him the title, I don't know what will!

Very nice guy to deal with. Provided an detailed quote which was fairly priced for a range of small jobs (installing a loft light; adding an additional switch point etc). You will need to call and be prepared to possibly wait and he is very busy, however it is worth the wait. Job done to my full satisfaction and David cleaned up after himself after each days work. Would definitely use again.

All the previous recommendations were well founded. Dave Newman did an excellent job and I have no hesitation in recommending him. I wanted him to do a job for my Dad, he replied promptly, came to price the job when he said he would as I wanted to be there as well, arrived on time and did a brilliant job. I would like to thank all those who made a previous recommendation regarding Newman's Electricals because of those recommendations I first recommended Mr Newman to my friend who was so please with his service that I used his first hand service today. He was polite, courteous and explained to me exactly what he was doing and even though I realised I had purchased the wrong item Mr Newman made a suggestion on a cheaper alternative without having to change the installed item. He is busy (but it is because he is very good and he will endeavour to deal with you straight away if urgent) but I would advise that if the job you require is not urgent and you can wait, then my advice is to wait!

I rang Mr Newman to see if he could fix a ceiling light that I was having problems with. His telephone manner was very courteous and he was able to make time to come round the following day even though it was the weekend. He turned up on time, was very friendly and did an excellent job. His rates were also good. I would certainly recommend him if you need some electrical work done about the house.

I needed all my outdoor security lights to be checked and repaired etc. Dave came round the following day to have a look and ended up fixing all the lights within an hour. He was friendly, fast and charged me a very reasonable charge: I now need a new outdoor light to be installed and will shortly be contacting Dave again to complete the job. And I wouldn't hesitate recommending him to my neighbours and friends, the added bonus being that he is very local!

We had a concern about our electric shower and called Mr Newman after consulting Which Local. Mr Newman returned the call within a couple of hours and attended the next morning. He was on time, professional and friendly. He carried out a check and concluded that the problem was not electric. He provided effective advice and did not charge for his visit and investigation.

Secondary review from 'Richard Meyer' - Dave replaced all the sockets and switches in my renewed kitchen. He kept to budget even though he hit problems and spent more time than he had estimated. He does a first class job for a reasonable price. I'm happy to recommend him to family and friends, as well as my fellow Which?Locallers.

David Newman came to quote most promptly after a previous company had let me down on a bathroom installation within a new extension. The work was time sensitive and partially complete which is never ideal for any tradesman to pick up. David proved thorough, careful and competent on his initial inspection which took about an hour and included a full explanation of certification procedures. He emailed the quotation and his availability within 24hrs of his visit. The price however was noticeably higher when compared to my other quotes so I did not go ahead on this occasion, but I would not rule him out for future projects if he could be more competetive in his costing.
