I've used Dave as my go-to electrician at my house since 2013. I needed some LED spotlight units to be installed in my bathroom to replace the exisitng units and Dave quickly quoted for the supply and installation and we agreed on a Saturday (today) for the works. These days it is so reassuring to know that the works will alway be done correctlly, I have no hesititation in recommending Dave. In fact I've decided to have more spotlight units in my house replaced next week!

Dave was the second person I had over to give me a quote for fixing a seemingly-broken wall socket in my garage. Whilst here, he not only corrected the problem (which turned out to have a simple cause that the first electrician had missed), but also fixed one of my light fittings that was coming loose, all for a modest fee. I was so impressed that I asked him to return to replace my consumer unit and perform a wiring test, all of which were completed quickly and efficiently. If I have any further electrical work done, Dave will definitely be the first person I call. Highly recommended! :)

I had several small jobs that I thought needed doing. Dave, who is very nice, checked sockets, smoke alarm and electrical fittings and assured me that I didn't need to worry - his explanations and advice were invaluable. Mr Newman carried out some electrical work at our property, i.e. removing existing spotlights and replacing them with new ones, removing wall sconces, replacing sockets - which included some channelling into the wall and plastering - fixing our doorbell etc. He was extremely reliable, was always punctual, very professional and experienced; he also always cleaned afterwards. In addition to this, his fees are reasonable. I highly recommend him.

Dave has been solving the electrical problems that our Victorian semi has been throwing at us for the last 7 years when we had the good fortune to stumble across him... In that 7 years he's seen to the whole range of electrical work for us in our own home but also in rental properties. He is reliable, efficient, informative, entertaining, thoughtful, intuitive and knowledgeable and gets the job done! The work he does for the NHS means that he's on top of the most recent best practice - very reassuring. All round good bloke and we count ourselves very lucky to be able to call on his services. We found Dave on the Which? Trusted Trader website and he certainly lives up to all the excellent recommendations he has received. He came round to quote exactly when he said he would, gave us a prompt and fully inclusive written quote by email the following day and carried out all the work we required in a competent and timely manner. He also came up with useful suggestions for replacement electric heaters and extra heating in the bathroom and we were pleased to follow his advice. As we are not local to the property we entrusted the keys to him which he posted back to us when he had finished the work. We would definitely recommend Newmans and from this first experience we will certainly be using Dave again and will not even consider using any other electrician.

I contacted Dave in the afternoon last week, as we were experiencing lighting problems in our bathroom (via a pull cord). Basically we had no lighting, due to a shortened wire. Dave advised that he would come and 'have a look' that evening, although dependent on the potential size of the job, he might not be able to fit us in for a good few weeks. Thankfully Dave (assisted by his son) was able to complete the job there and then in around 20 mins, which was a real bonus for us. Dave was friendly and informative throughout and I'd not hesitate to use him again for any electrical work. The cost of the repair was minimal and his fully booked diary is clearly an indication of the quality of his workmanship. Thanks Dave!

We phoned Dave after reading the fantastic reviews on which local. We were lucky he had a cancellation and was able to come within a couple of days. He moved some power points but was also able to put in a new power point and trunking for a wall mounted tv during the visit without any prior notice. He was really easy to deal with and very nice and straightforward in his approach. Costs were reasonable. Would definitely use him again and would wait for him to be available if he wasn't immediately free!

I am a 66 year old pensioner, and recently used David Newman to fit 5 outside security lights, 2 garden lights and six Drive way lights, he is the best Electrican I have ever used by a country mile, honest, hard working and completely reliable, I will never use any one else. Had Dave over for three jobs: to fix a non functioning dimmer switch; replace a sensor light in the porch and repair a burnt out extractor fan. Dave repaired the dimmer switch very quickly; fitted a new porch light and gave advice on part required for the extractor fan. The advice was useful and two of the three jobs have been completed. Dave was punctual when appointments were made and his costs were very reasonable. I would definitely recommend Dave and will call him again for any other electrical jobs required in my home.

I had a 15a MCB that kept tripping taking out power to living room and bedroom sockets. Struggled for days and even with the help of another electrician couldn't resolve the problem. Searched for electricians on Which Local and called Dave Newman after reading his reviews. He diagnosed and fixed the problem over the phone in under 5 minutes! Thoroughly professional, didn't even try to suggest a call out (others would have jumped at the chance of some easy money) and most importantly very knowledgeable. It was third time we used Dave Newman, this time was to install a new electric cooker. It was meant to be a quick job, but we didn't know that it needed a housing unit. He improvised a solution after struggling to negotiate a gas pipe which was in the way. We offered him an extra payment, but he refused. All this happened while he was not feeling well. If this 'going the extra mile' does not earn him the title, I don't know what will!

Very nice guy to deal with. Provided an detailed quote which was fairly priced for a range of small jobs (installing a loft light; adding an additional switch point etc). You will need to call and be prepared to possibly wait and he is very busy, however it is worth the wait. Job done to my full satisfaction and David cleaned up after himself after each days work. I would like to thank all those who made a previous recommendation regarding Newman's Electricals because of those recommendations I first recommended Mr Newman to my friend who was so please with his service that I used his first hand service today. He was polite, courteous and explained to me exactly what he was doing and even though I realised I had purchased the wrong item Mr Newman made a suggestion on a cheaper alternative without having to change the installed item. He is busy (but it is because he is very good and he will endeavour to deal with you straight away if urgent) but I would advise that if the job you require is not urgent and you can wait, then my advice is to wait!

I rang Mr Newman to see if he could fix a ceiling light that I was having problems with. His telephone manner was very courteous and he was able to make time to come round the following day even though it was the weekend. He turned up on time, was very friendly and did an excellent job. His rates were also good. I would certainly recommend him if you need some electrical work done about the house.

I needed all my outdoor security lights to be checked and repaired etc. Dave came round the following day to have a look and ended up fixing all the lights within an hour. He was friendly, fast and charged me a very reasonable charge: I now need a new outdoor light to be installed and will shortly be contacting Dave again to complete the job. And I wouldn't hesitate recommending him to my neighbours and friends, the added bonus being that he is very local!

We had a concern about our electric shower and called Mr Newman after consulting Which Local. Mr Newman returned the call within a couple of hours and attended the next morning. David Newman came to quote most promptly after a previous company had let me down on a bathroom installation within a new extension. The work was time sensitive and partially complete which is never ideal for any tradesman to pick up. David proved thorough, careful and competent on his initial inspection which took about an hour and included a full explanation of certification procedures. He emailed the quotation and his availability within 24hrs of his visit. The price however was noticeably higher when compared to my other quotes so I did not go ahead on this occasion, but I would not rule him out for future projects if he could be more competetive in his costing.

After problems with my oven blew the house circuit, I called Newman Electricals yesterday lunchtime, leaving a message on voicemail. They not only called me back, but made an appointment for the same day and turned up on time! While fixing the oven, I was chatting to the engineer about other minor things, and he fixed those too (two broken or dangerous sockets, and a damaged light fitting). He stuck to the price he'd quoted for fixing the oven, too. Wonderful service from a friendly and efficient engineer, just what I wanted.

Dave Newman offered a fair price to install a power circuit in my garden. He arrived on time, and did an excellent tidy job at his estimated cost. He left the garden in a tidy state and without having damaged any plants. He even advised me to return some unneeded items to Wickes for a refund. Legal Certificate of Compliance for parts 4 & 7 of the building regulations also provided by Dave. I recommend him very highly, a thoroughly professional qualified installer.

Dave has done a fantastic job locating and fixing an intermittent fault which made the dishwasher stop working as well as the RCD keep blowing for no apparent reason. He was determined to find the cause and stuck at it until he did, then apologised for not being quicker! His fee was a less than I expected too. His approach was totally professional in dealing efficiently and tactfully with the errors of a previous electrician whose work caused the problem. I shall certainly be happy to use him again and recommend him to others.
