I was having trouble with my Worcester Greenstar boiler. While routinely checking the water pressure I saw it had climbed into the high red region and there was a slow drip leak from the pipe beneath. I decided I had better seek professional advice and used Which Trusted Traders, which has worked well for me in the past. Andy of “Origin Gas” came up as being nearby and highly rated. He came after his normal day’s work to investigate straight away. He tightened a nut to stop the leak and reset the pressure, but advised that I should fit a new pressure valve and expansion vessel. He came back to me with pricing for the parts for me to agree and then came to do the fitting, again in the evening after his booked work for the day. Removing the old valve was trickier than it should have been because the old unit had welded itself into the recess, but Andy stayed with it and managed to wrestle it apart. Once the old valve was out of the way he was able to fit the new one and then the separate expansion vessel efficiently with minimum delay. Overall I was very impressed by Andy’s obvious experience and skill in diagnosis and fitting and greatly appreciated his willingness to work into the evening to get things fixed quickly. I paid for the parts and for his labour which he charged fairly by the half-hour. I was already looking for a regular service arrangement and now believe that Andy will fit the bill nicely!

I called Andy in the morning and we talked through the issues with my Smeg gas fire which was lacking a gas supply. This was in order that Andy could be well prepared for the visit to our home. (Which he was). Andy attended at the appointed time and promptly remedied the issue with the gas fire, as well as cleaning it. Plus, he provided useful and helpful advice regarding the other gas fires in the house. Finally, the work was carried out in accordance with the agreed schedule and quoted cost. I would definitely recommend using Andy to look into / remedy issues associated with gas fires, heating appliances etc.
