I had 4 quotations for the treatment and repair of dry rot. It was quite an extensive job costing between £4-5K to remove the timber and plaster from part of the ground floor. The Bristol surveyor who came was a great salesman who convinced us to sign with the experts that are supposedly "Peter Cox". The reality was very different and totally unprofessional. They do not use a project manager and we had just one lone "technician" to do everything without supervision. They cut plenty of corners and were in a total rush to finish and move on to the next job. Treatment was not completed as per the contract (not one hole drilled and injected), plaster-work was done by a subcontractor and simply appalling (Two sides of a bay window did not even match). Vents which were installed were left filled surrounded by expanding foam and eventually plastered "badly" by a carpenter after numerous complaints. My experience with Peter Cox was a complete nightmare. I could go on for another 2 pages listing the endless problem and I would recommend anyone needing their services to continue looking elsewhere. I had partly selected this company based on the association with Which? Trusted Traders but my complaint was referred directly to Ombudsman Services who never came to inspect the work and recommended a £100 goodwill discount on a £5,000 balance. Avoid! especially for big jobs.

The trader replied (on 06/06/2017)
Dear Mr McVea, It's always disappointing for us to hear that a customer is not satisfied with our work. However, as this has been ongoing now for some years, and as we reached a conclusion in December 2016 with the verdict of an independent ombudsman, unfortunately there is nothing more we can do here. Best wishes for the future Catherine

Our house purchasing survey threw up a question of damp. The team at Peter Cox came out to the property, explained the problems and advised what needed doing. More importantly, they advised what did NOT need doing, instead of just trying to sell me things. A real honest opinion. I will definitely use them if I have any future needs.

Quick survey, performed by someone who clearly knew what he was talking about, and prompt follow up appointment for the work, which was done in a very clean and tidy way by a pleasant and professional tradesman. Will definitely recommend.
