The Phdheating Company

I chose Phdheating to install a new boiler and restore the system in my house, despite the fact that his quote was higher than others, because he had been recommended by a neighbour and approved by Which? and Trusted Traders. I also liked the fact that he lived close by. I hoped he would maintain the heating system in good order. This was not to be however. A new boiler and local thermostats on all the radiators were installed but the system was no longer controlled by the programmer. The rads stayed on even when the heating was set to off. This had not happened before the installation of the new boiler. According to a different engineer, the problem appeared to be incorrect wiring. Another ongoing problem was that the boiler went out – lost pressure – on an almost weekly basis because of a leak. This had also not happened with the old system. One other less systemic problem was that Paul refused to reinstall a restored radiator despite having agreed to do so. He also did not send a proper guarantee or receipt. VAT was incorrectly calculated. The first receipt although sent to my email was made out to another person. So, in all, Paul did not leave the system ‘free of leaks and in correct working order’ and ‘with all heating controls in correct working order’ as stated in his quote. I have been asking him to correct the problems for the last 8 months but he has found numerous excuses for not doing so. All is set out in a lengthy correspondence between us.

My heating had recently stopped working. Paul was very helpful and identified the problem quickly. It turned out that i required a new thermostat, kindly Paul suggested buying a replacement which i could fit myself and did not charge for his efforts. I would get in touch with Paul in the future if I encountered trouble with my heating system. Thanks.
