I took my laptop to the shop to solve a problem. The guys were friendly and helpful - taking their time to explain what they would do. They tested the laptop but didn't seem to encounter the same problem I did - so we discussed what options I had. I was astonished that they didn't want paying - their argument was they'd not solved a problem - my point was that I'd used their time and expected to pay!! No matter - when I got my laptop home my problem has mysteriously been cured - what service! I had a problem where Bitdefender was denying access to Microsoft Edge, I couldn't sort it out myself. I explained the situation to Propergeeks they took control, set a time and kept to it. They kept me informed whilst they sorted the problem out and were very helpful and always polite.

I had two medium spec computers, which had both become slow and problematical, upgraded with SSDs and BIT Defender Total Security installed. The initial evaluation was free and the job quotes were clear and at reasonable cost. Communication with Proper Geeks is good and the computers returned fairly rapidly with jobs completed and fully checked. Both computers are now returned to the reasonably high spec performance I am used to and I am very pleased with the upgrades.

Downloading a driver from less than safe site tripped my BitLocker and froze up my laptop with the feared blue screen. I dropped into propergeeks with a plea for help. In 48 hours they had restored the kit to pre-download status and full operation without losing anything except the spurious driver. This may be bread and butter to them but they saved my bacon on good time. Cost less than £80. Result. Great small business and I would recommend them to anyone.

My computer was running extremely slow and I had procrastinated for many months about handing my computer over, containing sensitive personal data, to someone/a business I did not know. From the moment I walked through the door of the shop I felt at ease. My own IT knowledge is quite basic, so I required professional help and advice in upgrading my current DeskTop PC from windows 7 to 10. The geeks were polite, positive and helpful from the start. They quoted me what I considered a very reasonable price and did exactly what was required without any fuss, on completion of work Chris (GEEK) talked me through the differences in the upgrade and how to get up and running immediately, while also offering any help or support required. I consider these guys a top outfit and would not hesitate in recommending their services.

Proper Geeks were of great service converting all my old emails from my old 13 years South African PC onto my new lap top. He was punctual and reliable, as well as being very patient in showing how to navigate the new system. As I am nearly 60 and not very computer literate, he showed a great deal of patience, for which I greatly appreciated. I’ve used Proper Geeks in the past, having bought a PC from them and had them carry out repairs. Their services were excellent. Nothing is too much trouble. Today I used their services again to assist my son who was involved in a video conference session. It would be difficult to fault Propergeeks way of going about things. Nothing smart-arsed about them. Just good old fashioned courtesy and helpfulness from people who know their stuff, and no patronising nonsense meted out to people like me who know nothing about computers. Due to being unable to solve the problem at a home visit they kindly took it away to their workshop and managed to solve it advising it was down to an unusual problem with a certain section of graphics. They kept me informed at all times and retained the PC for a week keeping it on test to make sure. They explained everything to me and returned it on the day and time arranged. At all times as always they gave me an excellent service. I use them at all times of need and have done so since the business opened as it is so local and reliable. Replaced my laptop screen where the larger retail outlet couldn't, even though it was only 9 months old. Had a slight problem with new screen which was changed very quickly with no fuss, excellent and very professional service, if you have any problems with your computers these are the people to visit first.

I took my old PC in because it was running slowly. To be truthful I had forgotten how old it was. I was advised to buy a new machine and they came and helped set it up at home. There was a delay in obtaining the new PC but they kept me up to date at all times by phone. The only problem was in order to pay by credit card I had to go into the shop (I could have paid by BACS or cash at home).

I recently had problems with my PC and couldn’t log in. I phoned Propergeeks who were snowed under with post-lockdown work. My email account was hacked by someone who used my email address to send a request for money to my contacts, claiming it to be from me. Fortunately none of them believed that it was genuine but my email account was left unusable. I was unable to repair it myself and so contacted Propergeeks. They did an excellent job. Despite being very busy catching up with their backlog consequent on the Covid shut-down, they collected my PC quickly, reinstalled and updated the email software and returned the PC two days later, when they had said they would. They discussed with me beforehand what they would have to do and did exactly that, also assuring me that if they found it necessary to do anything else they would advise me before doing it. I was very pleased with their professionalism, will certainly contact them again if I have any future problems and am happy to recommend them to other potential customers.

Purchased a new laptop from PG in Dec.18 with software. Given an 18-month hardware guarantee. Had several problems with laptop: crack appeared above the ethernet port, laptop running very slow, bezel coming away from screen. PG caused 2 protrusions on the palm rest during bezel repair. Problems were eventually resolved, with additional cost of £98.40 for a new SSD drive. Laptop was still under an 18-month hardware guarantee. Phoned Consumer Advice about our situation and advised we did not have to accept another repair, we advised PG not to carry out any more repairs (i.e. bezel). PG said they would do the repair which would fulfil their obligations. We contacted Which who advised us to make a complaint against PG to them/Ombudsman. The Ombudsman did not rule in our favour but acknowledged the frustration with the customer service we have experienced and the stress this has caused and will raise our points with both the Trader/Which directly so that they can look to address these further. To date spent £734.59 on laptop. We have been accused of dropping laptop twice and picking up the laptop by the lid causing the bezel to break – untrue. PG did not acknowledge our e-mail complaint and said they did not receive it. PG would not acknowledge receipt of hard copies of e-mails taken into shop. We had to take photographs of us putting hard copies on the counter. S.McGovern owner of PG has been extremely rude to both myself and my husband and has put the telephone down on us

We'd have had dealings with ProperGeeks before so had no hesitation in going back when my laptop refused to do anything. Half expected to be told it was only fit for the bin. But no, the old hard drive was replaced, better security was installed and everything tidied up. The laptop was returned to us at the agreed time and the work done at the agreed price. Chris connected it to the WIFI and gave us helpful suggestions on computer use. A wonderful service and local. I don't think we would get better anywhere else.

Proper Geeks provided a refurbished laptop for another family member recently, we were very impressed with the work so when my laptop started running very slowly we returned. The laptop was assessed, hard drive replaced with SSD, everything necessary was reinstalled. The work was done on time and within the stated budget. Great service. Face to face is an added bonus. They also provided great help to another family member with low technical ability at the same time, providing her with a new replacement and making sure she knew how to use it.

I took my laptop to Propergeeks for repair. Unfortunately, it was not repairable (it was very old) but they were able to save all my data and transferred it from my MAC to my new PC. A few weeks later, I was having problems getting my printer to link up, I sent them an email asking if they knew what the problem could be and they rang me up that day and managed to fix it remotely for no charge. I purchased a new computer printer and could not install it. I called out Propergeeks whom I had used before, they responded almost immediately, installed my printer and ensured I was happy with everything. They observed strict covid protocols while in my house and I was very satisfied with all outcomes.

My Macbook pro was taken in within a day and repaired within the week as stated. Several phone calls made by Ross to check that I was happy and informed with procedures. Our Omen laptop needed checking over after it sustained impact accidentally. The team at the shop were excellent and particular thanks to Corey whom we dealt with. The laptop had diagnostics completed, physical inspection for hinge damage and also opened up to ensure that no damage was sustained to the fans etc. You cannot be too sure with gaming laptops and we wished peace of mind. I was unable to boot up my replacement laptop which I had purchased from Propergeeks in July. I dropped it off at the shop and they rang me the same day to say that the hard drive was failing. I live on my own and because of the Covid-19 pandemic, have limited access to outside services, therefore my computer is my lifeline and I use it both for business, contacting my family and for ordering on line services. Without question, Propergeeks replaced the laptop and both Ross and Chris were very helpful is advising on various aspects of installation and transfer of data to the new machine. They were in constant touch with me by phone and I knew what what happening at each stage of the process. This morning, Chris delivered my replacement laptop and I am up and running with the new machine. Cutting a long story short, young Chris came to set up Skype on my laptop a few days ago. He quickly spotted several urgent issues on the machine, needing prompt attention. Not least of which, the machine needed upgrading from Windows 8 to windows 10. A few days later, Chris returned the laptop, and it was as good as new! He took the time and trouble to make sure I was happy with the result. I took my computer in for a problem with live mail failing to download messages following a Windows update on Monday - I was told they would get back to me Wednesday - 5pm I had to phone them. They hadn't sorted it , they would phone back Thursday am 10.30. Near to 11am I phoned them and they said my computer was going slow and I needed a new hard drive. Nothing about the email problem. I had to remind them it was an email problem. They didn't investigate the problem just told me it was an old version and they would give me the more modern one 'Mail' which would be very similar. I got it back Friday and found it was a much worse version without most of the things I liked about live mail. - So much for a modern version. This is the second time I have waited 4 days for a response when they haven't listened to what the problem was that I had. I have previously had good service from them at a reasonable price but they need to sort out this problem of not listening to the customers problem. I can't recommend them at present

Only needed my laptop security software updating so a small job for Propergeeks. Service was excellent as always - everything explained in non-technical terms with full back up for 12 months if required. The only place I would go to for anything computer related - far better service than the 'big sheds' provide and at a good price. Definitely recommend Propergeeks.

I recently purchased a new desktop computer from Propergeeks. The price matched those of the large high street companies and the service I received from start to finish was outstanding. I am not a ‘techo’ so I needed easy to understand advice and guidance. The staff were excellent, explaining things in a very clear and simple way. My old computer was collected from my home and taken to their workshop to have the data and files transferred to my new computer. It was then personally delivered to my house where the technician, Chris, set it up and installed my security package, Microsoft Office and various other services I had on my previous computer. The whole operation was carried out efficiently without any fuss. Each stage was explained to me clearly and I was also even given a tutorial by Chris on how my new Windows 10 and Office operate. The overall price for the new computer and the various services was extremely reasonable and competitive. The personal, no fuss service I received was outstanding and would recommend this company without hesitation.

I delivered my computer to the shop on Thursday 31 October 2019 together with an external Back up. I was told it would probably be a few days before they could analyse what the problem was. I told them there was a document on the back-up which was urgently needed - for Saturday - but it would need editing first. They rang me me on Friday to say they had been able to find the file and would put it on a Memory stick. I took this home and edited it on an old computer, saving it back on the Memory stick which I then returned to the shop. The staff then printed off the documents for me. The following Tuesday I was notified that the Mother Board was kaput and the cost of repairing uneconomical. I accepted the quotation for a replacement computer with the data uploaded and installed. This was done today by arrangement. I must compliment the Staff, especially Chris and Ross, on their most pleasant manner and courtesy as well as their skill and efficiency in dealing with my needs. As someone who has had his own business for over 30 year, I am fully aware of the importance of quality and service and the training and motivation of Staff in this regard. It has been a pleasure to do business with ProperGeeks and I have already started to notify my friends of your excellent service.

Repaired a laptop and fitted a new solid state hard drive and added a virtual windows 95. They managed to save all my data from a damaged hard drive. Laptop is now like new. (Haven't got into the Windows 95 yet) We had a bit of a hiccup but it was all sorted to my complete satisfaction due to their professionalism so no hesitation in giving a 5 star review.

The work was done efficiently and quickly. They also kept in touch with me throughout the work being done.

Contacted this company by phone on June 5th to establish if they could fit a replacement drawer in my desktop pc.Dropped it in and was informed a day or two later that they had ordered a replacement and given a price for the job.They rang me on the 13th June to confirm all was well and the PC was ready for pick up at the price quoted. Collected it on June 13th and am delighted with the result. Very professional and efficient staff and am most impressed with the service.

Excellent service has been provided by Propergeeks on various occasions. About two and a half years ago I bought from them a Windows 10 computer to replace my old Windows XP computer which was life-expired. Windows 10 was new to me at that time and I needed help to get started. I found that the members of staff are pleasant and helpful and have an aptitude for giving me the right information to help me to help myself, having regard for my own ability. I have since bought from them a Windows 10 tablet and a Windows 10 laptop computer which I am happy with.

Have used Propergeeks several times and have always had good service from them. On this occasion they suggested that it would not be worthwhile to fix my computer as the motherboard had gone, so it would better to get a new computer, which I did from them. They also managed to transfer data from my old computer's hard drive to my new computer for no charge. They can also make house calls at no extra charge. I am very happy with my (6 year old) SONY laptop but it's been struggling of late. USB issues and Windows 7 updates not loading, I couldn't face the task of investigating the problems myself. I dropped it with the Geeks with a list of my gripes. After a few update phone calls I agreed to having Windows 10 installed. Within a week, I had a boot up problem. They asked me to bring it it in for a once over and 2 days later they rang to say it was resolved - no extra charge. They kept me updated with regular phone calls and no work was done until they'd discussed it with me first. Great service. Ps. It still run like a 6 year old laptop, but at least it stays up and running now.
