We needed a new heating system as our back boiler was coming to the end of its working life. With the array of different heating systems, we were unsure of the best option for us. So, we decided to contact various recommended local heating engineers to come and advise on different systems. The majority of them were not interested or couldn't be bothered to get back to us even after chasing phone calls. So, we contacted Worcester Bosch boiler manufacturers who had a list of approved heating installers in our area and came across two companies. One being RJ Mitchell of Bath. As members of the Which organisation, we also looked for advice on heating systems and installers. One installer had an exceptional review, and this happened to be RJ Mitchell of Bath. We registered our interest on the Worcester Bosh website and received a phone call within 10 minutes from Kim Mitchell. Kim was very helpful and willing to discuss our initial thoughts of changing our heating system over the next 45 minutes. Following this, she arranged an appointment for John Mitchell to do a site survey and discuss further details of heating options. John contacted us to confirm his appointment and arrived on time and was comprehensive with what they could offer. He genuinely seemed interested in our project and wanted to give the best heating system for us, not what he could sell us. John Mitchell is, by far, the most approachable, friendly and experienced heating engineer we had contact with.

It is excellent to deal with a family firm like RJ Mitchell. The boiler is on the top floor of a tall house which meant scaffolding was needed -all very efficiently organised by Mitchell’s. All dealings with the firm from the initial survey, the quote and the installation went exactly to plan and the whole team was a pleasure to have working in the house. They are experts in their field so I am very happy to recommend them

My partner and I recently took on a renovation project that required a new hot water and heating system. Communication from the start during initial meeting and quote was great, and this was provided in the time agreed. Being very new to the process, John offered a lot of helpful and useful advice along the way, and always seemed on hand to respond to all of our queries. During the work, the team were tidy, organised, and very efficient. They were able to work round our changing schedule, and very accomodating during a busy period. They also coped well with the challenge of installing two curved radiators in bay windows. All the team we came into contact with; Kim, Adam, Korey and of course John were all polite, friendly and helpful. Any small issue was rectified quickly and easily. As new homeowners, it's reassuring to know of RJ Mitchell, and we will be using them for the yearly boiler service, and any future plumbing needs. Quoted priced compared to some others was marginally higher, but the level of service, support, and care was well worth it.

My existing old boiler failed and although I was booked to have a new one fitted during January 2022 Kim in the office pulled out all the stops and my new boiler was fitted only days after I reported my problem. A very professional happy team arrived on time, worked solidly all day and completed the job to my absolute satisfaction in the evening. This is the second time I have used this company to fit a new boiler in this house and my previous one. I will always use this company who are so helpful and an example to others. John did a great job installing our new boiler. Because it was a replacement for a very old boiler there was a lot of replumbing, new pipework, flue replacements, etc. Some of the plumbers we got around to give us a quote wouldn't even attempt the job, but John was unphazed and found good solutions to all the potential problems. He let us know what needed to be done at every stage and fully answered any of our questions. I can't recommend John highly enough. It was also very useful to have Kim available as a dedicated person 'front of house' to handle any queries. Highly recommended.

I found RJ Mitchell and Son on the Gas Safe Register, as I was looking for a G3 qualified heating engineer who is experienced at installing unvented cylinders and willing to install one in the loft of my house, to replace a gravity-fed system. John Mitchell was just the man for the job and we were very grateful that he was willing to take on the work. He installed a new boiler and the unvented cylinder, with all the new pipework running to and in the loft. He piped in eight new radiators and fitted a water conditioner to reduce limescale throughout the house. All work was done to a high standard and within the timescale originally specified--5 days. The total cost was clearly specified and within the region of what we expected, therefore reasonable to us. As other reviewers have mentioned, John is hardworking, honest, courteous, ably resolves issues when they arise (as they do) and leaves working areas clean and tidy. My husband noted that he must be the best-equipped heating engineer on the planet and it shows in the outcome. His pipework is a work of art in our house. We are delighted with the new, upgraded system, which has been running without any problems since the installation and has turned out to be even better than we expected. Thank you to John and Kim, who is a very able and organised administrator for the business, and the team for all your hard work.

I have nothing but praise for Mitchell & Sons! From the absolute beginning when John Mitchell came to discuss the work to the end when the work was completed, the entire experience was wonderful. John is such an amiable fellow, as is his apprentice Corey..they were a pleasure to have in the house..friendly, courteous, really tidy! and super efficient. John and Corey installed a new central heating system with a new boiler and I'm delighted with it..the boiler is so quiet and the controls easy to use..although that maybe because of the patience John showed to me when explaining how to use it! At the end of each day, they left the house so tidy that you wouldn't know they had been. They showed such respect to my home and nothing was too much trouble. I asked John if he just did big projects and he assured me he does all types of plumbing work which is great news as I will never use another plumbing company...Mitchell & Sons will always get my call. If they were a wine..they would be Crystal Champagne! Kim Mitchell also deserves some praise! Kim runs the admin side of things and that lady is really on the ball. Every query or question I had, I received a reply either immediately or at the latest, the next day. The quote for the work and the invoices were all very clear. RJ Mitchell & Son have just completed some major plumbing works at our home. The job was carried out in a most professional and timely manner, John and his team were most courteous and helpful. They left our home each night having cleaned up and even left us fan heaters for the evenings the heating system was off. We are 100% satisfied with the end product, and would not hesitate to recommend this company to any prospective customers.

The work involved converting an old single pipe system into a modern two pipe system which required the lifting of floor boards throughout the house to lay new pipes. The system also interfaced with a modern solar water heating system. Mitchell's were very professional about assessing the work involved and provided a clear and honest appraisal of the work required. Mitchell's were also very professional about the Covid restrictions in place at the time. The team who installed the system were smartly attired, extremely courteous and were sympathetic to working around the occupants and contents of the house. They kept us fully informed of plans and progress and were very reactive to problems encountered along the way, such that the work was completed ahead of schedule. The new system is working very well and there has been minimal impact on the décor of the house. I would thoroughly recommend R.J. Mitchell and Son Limited.

We're really pleased to have found R.J. Mitchell And Son Limited for this work. A week into using the new system, it's working well and offers a huge improvement. The work was not quite straightforward, especially as the new boiler needed installation in the same very visible position as the previous one, and a replacement flue installed to a new termination and also a new condensate pipe routed to an internal waste pipe. Following a specification and quote and agreeing on a start date, that day arrived, and at the end of the week the resulting installation was complete, tidy, resilient, and of good appearance. During the work, John Mitchell was not thrown by unexpected adversary (think wasps nest behind a header tank, thankfully (mostly) dormant). He pragmatically worked round any problems that might have been presented by an out-of-use gravity circulation system, rendering that safe in a non-destructive way, and he dealt with the setback of discovery of a most uncommon defective part from one of the suppliers - without letting that unduly impact on the work. Even given quality components, the resilience of central heating systems depends in large part on the installer 'Getting it right'. I've high confidence that RJ Mitchell work to this principle. It helps though that they are also pleasant, personable and responsive. In conclusion I'd be very happy to use this firm again, their recently completed work has brought a real improvement in quality of life.

John Mitchell was contacted as our old boiler had finally expired. He arrived at the scheduled time and had a quick look at the system and said that a whole new system wasn't required and could fit a new boiler with the accompanying parts. Unfortunately the work was delayed due to coronavirus. A new date was set and John turned up on time to get on with the job. He is a very good tidy worker and extremely courteous as was the electrician he used to do the wiring. The price was reasonable and the work completed in 4 days. I highly recommend R J Mitchell and Son.

Having been warned that our CH boiler was due for replacement we had a thorough and detailed quote from John which we accepted. Shortly after the boiler fan failed so I contacted John and he quickly confirmed when he could fit a new boiler. Everything was done when he said, and done very tidily with no fuss or bother. And this was during the 'lockdown' so well done indeed.

From the moment John visited my home to view the work required and quote for replacing the 20+ years old boiler I felt confident employing R J Mitchell & Son and so it proved to be. My time table was tight as the bathroom replacement contract was already established and the boiler replacement was completed, as scheduled, the day before. The removal of the existing equipment was completed without disruption or mess to me and the new pipework to the new Combination Boiler is streamlined and as beautiful as plumbing pipework can be. The whole procedure was very impressive indeed and demonstrated their pride in their work and the efficiency of their business. John and his staff were very friendly and considerate at all times and the explanations given were concise and clear. John arrived punctually on the day work was due to begin, and proceeded in a friendly but highly organised way. Everything was kept tidy, and all of John's work was of the highest standard. The boiler installation was completed on time, and without any problems. In November 2018 I contacted RJ Mitchell & Son for a quote to replace my boiler. John arrived promptly and conducted a thorough investigation of what was required. He was very knowledgeable and offered a couple of solutions. I received a very reasonable quote by email shortly afterwards. The work was agreed to commence in February and we communicated by email to agree a mutually convenient date. John and his team arrived as stated and the work was carried out swiftly and very professionally with limited disruption. I am very pleased with the new boiler, and John took time to explain how the programmer works and even set it to my own requirements. Having serviced my gas boiler (central heating and hot water) for over 10 years, replaced the system when the old combi boiler failed. Good and thorough quote - explained what had to be done and why.
