Always been happy with Simon’s work and happy to recommend. He was quick to attend to the problem, explained what had been done to date and what would be needed in the future.

I had been using the same local roofer for the past 25 years but was not impressed with his work the last time he came. After a search, I came across the excellent reviews for Simon Meadwell on Which and asked for his help. As expected from his previous reviews, his work is excellent and he completely solved my damp chimney problem. I would't hesitate to use him again and would recommend him to anyone looking for a genuine, experienced roofer.

Replacing leading on a bay window. This was a relatively small job, but the work was carried out with great care, thoroughness and professionalism. The result is beautiful. The trader arrived as arranged, and tidied the site up well.

We'd had a lot of trouble with different roofers and struggled to find someone reliable. The flat roof on the top of our bay window started leaking due to age. Simon came round promptly to give a very reasonable quote, but also showed his knowledge and experience in how best to tackle the fix. Despite delays due to bad weather it's all sorted now and the roof is holding up well. The job was more complicated than originally thought but they were really communicative and did a great job to really fix the problem. Tidied up really well too, would recommend!

2 x chimney stacks repointed, pots reflaunched and leadwork trays and flashings replaced. All work carried out in a trouble free, efficient and friendly way, and the resulting job is very tidy. I can recommend Simon, who in turn was recommended to me by a trusted local double glazing company.

Simon and his colleague did an excellent job stripping out the old fibreglass valleys and replacing them with wider and more functional lead ones. He was recommended to me earlier in the year and quoted for the work in July but made clear he would be unable to undertake the work until October due to demand. Adverse weather meant he was unable to start until December. The wait was worth it though and I am very pleased with the quality of the work carried out which was done to budget. Simon was courteous and always ready to answer any questions I had.

Simon did a repair of the flashing between roof and main building. Came when he said he would (weather dependant) Has done work for me before and know he is relaiable and does quality work. I have experinced lots of poor work on roof repairs but now I have found Simon I will stick with him. Getting him booked in for more work next year.

I contacted Simon on his landline about my leaking porch roof after the storms over the weekend. I was advised to phone his mobile number which I duly did and left a message. About 10 minutes later he replied via text saying he would call later in the week but was unable to specify a time. A few hours later he phoned and said he would come over in 20 minutes. He assessed the roof, explained the problem and the solution and would have done the repair then and there had the weather permitted. A dry day was required which happened a couple of days later. The repair done, my property was left tidy and I am very pleased with the result. I believe Simon charged a reasonable price for his work too. What an amazing service! Would definitely use him again and highly recommend him.

Really good experience all round. We needed a chimney stack removing to fix a long standing damp problem. Simon was always punctual and worked quickly and effectively. Cost was as quoted and work carried out to high standard. He's very easy to communicate with and I'd definitely use him again when needed.

Longish wait for work to be done due to demand, which was explained at the outset. Excellent job and attentive throughout. Happy to revise quote and carry out extra work, when gutter issue was identified. Tidy, efficient and considerate approach to getting the job done, despite less than ideal weather. Simon and his son completed the installation of our new flat roof recently. Following a period of heavy rain the roof appears to be watertight and we are very happy with the work completed including the new guttering and fascia board at the front of the garage. As a result of this we would have no problem recommending Simon to any potential projects elsewhere.

We had mortar falling from the tile edge overhang on three separate parts of the roof. Simon suggested we had the dry verges fitted instead of replacing the mortar. I was given a quote for the job which was very reasonable so I said yes to having the job done. Simon & John came as agreed, they did a smashing job, and they cleared the area up after they had finished. Cannot fault them, very friendly, efficient, professional service, would highly recommend.

I first contacted Simon the day he had just returned from holiday. He responded to my enquiry immediately and came to view the job 3 days later. I received a very professional and comprehensive quote, and today Simon and his son came to do the job. After completing the work, Simon explained all that had been done, including replacing a small section of the gutter which had not been included in the original plan. I am delighted that something which was a major concern for me has been sorted so efficiently and speedily. They were a really really nice people to have around - and, after they left, I didn't even know they'd been! Everywhere was cleaned and tidied! Simon was busy replacing my garage roof when I spoke to him regarding a damp patch showing on the kitchen ceiling. As soon as he completed the garage roof he went up and checked the ceiling roof, upon inspection he was sure that the roof was in good order but the fixing around a sewer vent pipe wasn't good. Simon and his colleague John were early on the day they were due to start, they got the materials and skip organised and worked steadily and energetically completing the work quickly and efficiently. We're very pleased with the work that Simon and his team did, replacing gutters, stopping the leak on an old cast iron gutter and replacing barge and capping boards. He popped around a couple of days later and told me the flat roof needed totally replacing. I received a quotation by email and last week he returned to do the job which only took a day. This is the third job I have had done by Simon. A couple of years ago he replaced a garage roof for me and followed that by a chimney repair. The latter was an awkward job in an exposed position and over a car port. Most recently he replaced poor flashing work at the junction of the back wall of my house and an extension roof that had been leaking in heavy rain storms for several years. The job was completed very quickly with lead appropriate to the exposure of the roof, sealed and repointed. We have had several heavy rain storms since he finished the work and no water has come through, which is an excellent result. I can fully endorse comments made by other reviewers, Simon and his mate know their jobs, are great to deal with and do a great job. Recommended unequivocally.

Roofing work carried out to a high standard, any extra work was explained and fully costed, tidied up after completion. Will be using Simon again later this year.

We had a problem around a leaking roof valley and tried a number of roofers who variously didn't call back, turn up or if they did then never quoted. I got Simon's details on personal recommendation from a friend who'd used his services over many years. Simon did what he said. He turned up, diagnosed the problem, did the work neatly, and invoiced slightly more having had to do agreed additional work. The scaffolding was put up and removed without fuss. I have no qualms in recommending him to others.

After finding damp patches on a ceiling and having no recommendations, we asked Simon Meadwell Roofing, a local company to look at the work needed to repair the problem, based on the fact that he was a Which Trusted Trader. Simon came to look at the job the same day, and identified with the problem which was a chimney stack in need of repointing and associated lead work. The job was carried out within days. Simon and John were great, and the job looks good. All debris was removed and we highly recommend this company.

Simon and John have done an amazing job of installing a full new guttering system/ down pipes etc on our house. The work has been completed to a high standard and on time. Simon provided us with a written quote, let us know when the scaffolding was due, started the repair the following day, completed the repair the day after, cleaned up and removed all debris from site and the scaffolding came down within 48 hours. No nasty surprises on the bill, he charged exactly what was on the quote. The work was completed just over a week ago but it has absolutely tipped it down a couple of times since then and we are still dry! Would definitely use Simon again, highly recommend. We had been looking for a roofing company for a very long time and one who had an excellent reputation. We found Simon through Which Trusted Traders and were extremely pleased with the work he did from beginning to end of the job. Simon's estimates are detailed and meticulous, which is always helpful. We had new fascia's, soffits and barge boards and gutters fitted all around our detached house. Also Simon fitted new lead valleys. All the work was done to time and very efficiently to a high standard. The scaffolders Simon used were also very efficient, speedy and they provided very high quality scaffolding. Simon and his colleague Jon were always cheerful and they were a pleasure to have working on our house and we were exceptionally pleased with all the work they did. The task was to solve a long-standing problem of leaks in the ceilings of two bedrooms, and into a sidewall. This required renewing the leading around two chimneys and taking down a third chimney. From asking for a quote to completion of the work Simon and his team were always polite, kept to all arrangements made, identified the problem's cause thoroughly and accurately and gave clear explanations of the work that was needed. The quotations were clear and precise. The job was planned for spring twenty twenty-two and Simon kept to this timetable. He organised the scaffolding with minimum disruption to us and our neighbours. The team worked efficiently and carefully, always tidying up afterwards. Additional work was advised and agreed upon in advance - this was the only addition to the budget. The quality of the work is very high and we are very satisfied. From start to finish it was a pleasure to have them on site. I cannot recommend Simon highly enough.

Extremely pleased with the service from Simon and his staff. Simon was recommended to me by a friend. He attended to view the work within three days and had the quote over within the week, Excellent. Had to wait a few weeks for the works to commence but this is only expected with weather and waiting for good workmen as always in high demand. The work completed was a full removal of a slightly pitched tiled roof and recovering with a rubber covering and edging. Very clean and efficient workers. Would definitely recommend.

We’ve had leaky roof-lights for years and many a roofer has come to suck through their teeth, re-tile or adjust flashing, taking our money to no avail. Not only did Simon and Jon quickly identify the issue, but they also went above and beyond to fit our job in during cold, wet weather to ensure we were watertight before the damage got too bad. Very pleased with the initial speed of response and the work has been completed to a high standard. Simon did repairs to guttering, replaced/reset a few tiles and other minor roof repairs. Removed the old boards, edge tiles and mortar from house and garage roof. Fit new plastic boards, replace tiles and fit new plastic edges to new planking attached to rafters. Repoint valley and garage ridge. Job done on time and with scaffolding to good safety standards.

Simon and his team renewed the very large area of flat roof that we share with our neighbours spanning two double garages plus downstairs hall and utility rooms. Very tidy job using rubber roofing sheet (previously felted) and much improved wall flashing etc. All neatly finished off and rubbish cleared. We have subsequently used Simon again to remove a redundant former boiler chimney and tile over the gap to remove leaking flashing from when the house built. We found Simon and his team excellent, doing a good job at a good price and very reliable.

I have used Simon twice for 2 different jobs and in each case the work was carried out as scheduled, according to the estimate and each time the work was to a high quality, with the work area kept (and left) tidy. I would heartily recommend him for roofing / re-pointing work.

Simon arrived on time. Removed old flaunching. Fitted Chimney pot and venting cowl, ground out all joints repointed brickwork, renewed lead work in code 4 sheet lead. We were very pleased with the work done. And pride in his workmanship.

Last year, I needed a second floor Velux Window replacing and was informed that it required a roofer, so I took Simon's name from Which Trusted Traders site. He paid me a visit in October. On the day of the job, Simon and his associate, Jon, were prompt, very polite and they did exactly what they promised to do. I was happy to leave them alone to do their work. Needless to say, the work was completed well within the time given. As for the job itself: In the following months, the work (and the Velux) has withstood all the nasty weather that the region could have (like Storm Christoph). All in all, this was work of a standard worthy of a 5 star rating. Without a doubt, this was value for money.

I had a leaking garage roof due to a variety of issues including inappropriate roofing materials and exposure to driving rain. A number of "tradesmen" had a look at the job but didn't give me any confidence that they really knew what they were doing. I had a look through the Which? Trusted Traders website and found Simon Meadwell's firm and the excellent reviews of his work. I contacted Simon and he explained what he could do, which involved stripping the original roof, laying OSB boards and finishing with fibreglass. He is a very busy man but, given a variety of issues from long periods of rain and the arrival of Covid, Simon and his mate arrived in early July 2020. The roof was stripped and re-boarded in a couple of days and then had to be covered with polythene sheet because the rains arrived again. After a week or so the weather cleared and the fibreglass work was completed with a demonstration of excellent team work. I have left the review until now because I wanted to fully evaluate the weatherproofing and workmanship over a the winter. The outcome is an excellent weatherproofing job, with a great finish. Simon knows what he is doing!

Prior to removing the chimney Simon Meadwell Roofing came and assessed the job. They came on the day specified and on time. There were no changes to the quote given and the work was completed in a timely manner. They were tidy and left no mess in our garden or our neighbour's where they required access. Roof, chimney and guttering repairs were done efficiently within the time I’d been told to expect and the men were pleasant, helpful and tidy. The actual repairs look good and materials used were appropriate for the age of the house, (lead guttering round a chimney) at the cost quoted previously. The scaffolding construction and removal by sub-contractors was organised without problems.

We had a problem with damp and mould coming through onto our ceiling. Contacted Simon who instantly diagnosed the issue to be due to condensation in the roof space. He knew that our property had certain shape of ceiling that made it prone to this problem and he explained the solution. The work was carried out without any fuss in a timely manner and we are very happy with the results.

Simon carried out extensive work to our chimney stack and arranged for a specialist to put a lead roof on our flat bay window top. Both jobs were carried out to an extremely high standard. The flat roof on the garage was in serious need of repair so I contacted Simon who had done roofing work for me previously and who I knew to be professional,reliable and trustworthy. He visited and examined the roof and outlined the options. A couple of days later I received a detailed quotation which I was happy to accept. A couple of weeks later he and and his co-worker arrived and did the repairs. There was only limited face-to- face contact between us as it was at the start of the second national lockdown but this did not pose any problems. The work was of a very high standard and the site left tidy. I have no hesitation in recommending Simon to other people.

Quite a complex job repairing slates and lead flashing on a gable end with capping stones. Arrived as planned, scaffolding pre booked, work completed efficiently and Simon kept me informed of the progress. Lead work is fantastic, completed to an old fashioned standard of do it once, do it right.

Included install & move scaffold ( by subcontractor), over clad existing facia and Tudor style timbers, and barge boards etc. All work completed on time. Very satisfied with the work and would recommend to others.

Simon was fully booked up when I first rang him about a roof leak via the air vent but when I rang a second time, explaining that it was urgent because this was the second time we had a leak that was coming through and the previous roofer hadn't fixed it properly, he very kindly agreed to come at once. After fully inspecting the air vent on the roof, he found there was nothing wrong with it at all and asked to inspect the loft. He and his colleague then found the cause of the leak immediately. It was from an internal tube in the loft going from the bathroom to the external roof air vent that had become disconnected and the condensation was dripping down and causing a leak to the bedroom below. He fixed this straightaway, even though it wasn't a roof repair. The previous roofer had said it was the air vent and charged me for supposedly fixing it when there was nothing wrong with it. So he went above and beyond by fixing this. He was quick, honest and solved it. Thank you isn't enough as I was really stressing about this. Simon is honest, reliable, gets to the root of the problem and fixes it. I can highly recommend him!

Really happy with every aspect of the job Simon did for me (replaced my garage roof and repaired the flashings on another roof). From the start, he was very clear about when he would come to quote, and then he did what he promised. No messing about! His quote was clear and detailed, setting out exactly what I’d get - and that clarity highlighted the deficiencies in another firm’s quote, including their under-specification of the rafters. His wasn’t the lowest price, but I rate competence, honesty and fairness over price, and his approach inspired confidence. I have no regrets about choosing his firm - he did an excellent job, no messing about, no blaming third parties (he was having a problem on the first morning with his materials supplier, but didn’t use that as an excuse - he just worked around them) - and the job was carried out bang on time and in a tidy fashion. Just the sort of firm you would wish to deal with.

Having emailed 26 locally based Roofers over a period of months. Of which only 6 made a visit to view the work involved. The price they quoted reflected that they all seemed to be working to early retirement. by sheer luck, I came across Simon and Jon. Their price was very competitive, the standard of work was first class. I would not hesitate in recommending Simon and Jon, as a pair of hard-working honest Tradesmen.

Simon was extremely professional in the way he dealt with the problem my neighbour and myself had with water leaking down the side of the chimney stack into our bedrooms. I can recommend Simon Meadwell roofing. I had a porous leaking chimney that was causing damage to the interior of our home. Simon and John took down the failing chimney and re-roofed over the exposed redundant flue. They completed the job quickly and efficiently. They were very tidy and cleaned away all debris which was important as the scaffold had to be sited on the neighbours driveway. Our neighbour was also full of praise for the way the job was carried out. I must add that their price was very competitive.

I thoroughly recommend Simon and Jon. Without doubt I would use them again should I need further roof work. I required a complete re-roof. I wanted the removal of concrete tiles that a previous owner had installed on a Victorian terrace and a re-roof with best reclaimed slate. I wanted to return the roof to how it should be. I approached three roofers from Which Trusted Traders. Simon produced a competitive quote but also seemed to understand what I wanted and demonstrated an interest in ensuring the correct slate was obtained and the look of the roof would be appropriate to the age and style of the house. Simon had excellent communication; answering questions and keeping me updated on start date and progress. Once on the job he and Jon worked through to finish and required nothing from me beyond being left to get on with the work. Simon identified niggly problems with the chimney stack and put them right; he also told me what I didn’t need doing and explained why. On completion, I happily discovered they had swept and tidied up all round the house leaving little trace of their work on the ground and window ledges. The finished job looks great and equally importantly is watertight. Simon is one of the easiest tradespeople I have dealt with; he takes a pride in his work and it shows in the completed job. My problem was a leaking tiled roof. An initial appointment was promptly kept and an estimate of cost and availability was given. The work was completed within the time span given and cost was well within the quotation. The work carried out cured the problem. Work was neat and efficient. I can’t recommend Simon Meadwell Roofing too highly. After several leaks in our 40 year old roof we decided to go for a complete re-roofing. Simon did the entire job in two weeks; despite some horrendous weather there were no problems. Not only are Simon and John knowledgeable, efficient and hard working they are also friendly and care deeply about their work. The price for this big job was very fair. If you have a roofing problem you know where to go!

I can't speak too highly of Simon Meadwell Roofing. They replaced our 30 year old flat roof which was leaking badly. Simon attended very quickly and provided us with a quote which we accepted. He was unable to commence work for a few weeks because of his annual break in August. However, he managed to find time before his break to cover the roof securely to ensure it was waterproof until he was able to complete the job. He, together with John, then attended as arranged and stripped off the old felt roof etc. and installed a rubber cover flat roof. At the same time they renewed the fascias and guttering. At the conclusion of the work they thoroughly tidied and cleaned the yard. The new roof looks brilliant. Throughout the work, and before, Simon kept us informed of the position. They were friendly but very professional. Over the years I have used various companies to carry out building work and Simon and John have been by far the best. I have no hesitation in recommending them to family and friends.

This was the second job Simon has done for us and it was as impressive as the first. This time Simon did a partial re-roof and it was a pleasantly pain free experience. My shed roof was leaking so the felt and part of the supporting wood panels needed replacing. Simon came very promptly to review the work needed, gave me an very competitive price, and on acceptance gave a time when he could carry out the job. His workmanship was excellent and he is a very nice person to deal with. I would strongly recommend him.

A dry verge unit had blown off in a gale and smashed. (Unfortunately, the units are no longer made so I had to have a complete new set along the gable end). Other units were loose. Simon emailed me a written estimate of the work required and the cost. On our acceptance of the quote, he came within a week and fixed the problems. He also pointed out a previous issue from when the roof had been retiled which meant that the dry verge units could not be lined up evenly. I probably would not have noticed but I appreciated his honesty. Good work, friendly and helpful - I would recommend him to other people in the area.

l had Simon to carry out some much needed work on the Chimney breast and also the Lead Flashing which was damaged by another roofer some time age, was very pleased with the work carried out and would recommend him to anyone Excellent Job.

Simon has installed a Velux and repaired a couple of loose tiles on my property. He was both efficient and knowledgeable, a true trusted trader! Following installation of the skylight, there were a few teething problems with the Velux, but Simon was quick to resolve the issue. He is very personable and nothing seems too much trouble. I discovered a water leak in one of our bedrooms on a Saturday morning & found Simon on WTT. I phoned & left a message in the afternoon and he got back to me within 2 hours, came round 9-30 am Sunday morning to assess the problem & promised to return asap to fix it (the rain & leak had stopped & no more rain forecast for a couple of days). He returned Tuesday lunchtime and did an assessment of the whole roof area where the leak was, talked to the tile manufacturer to verify the suitability of the tiles for the pitch of our roof (they are) and fixed the immediate problem for a very reasonable price. I will be using him in the New Year to come back and re-point all the ridge tiles as he has quoted me for that at a satisfactory price - in all I'm very satisfied with the way Simon has dealt with us and especially the speed of his response to an emergency.

Got Simon's name from this website. He came round and provided a quote to check the slates on our roof and fix those that need repairing. A friendly and amiable chap. Given the weather then his actual visit date was not set - he would call when it was safe to go up. Which he did a week later. He turned up on time and did the job in a proficient and timely manner. All loose slates were re-fixed plus he gave rough estimate of the 'life-time' left in the roof - it will need relaying sometime but later than I expected which was good news. All-in-all a good job and would engage again for any other roofing work we need doing.

I had a problem with my ridge tiles due to storm damage. I contacted Simon who turned up when he said and did the repair within 24 hours of viewing the damage. He was extremely knowledgeable and I would without hesitation recommend him to anybody.

I had a damp problem coming from a half chimney on my roof. Simon recommended that the half chimney be removed to the roofline and the roof area round it re-tiled. It seemed the obvious solution even though some other traders quoted to patch the half chimney. Simon then sent a detailed reasonable quote by e mail. He arrived at the day and time we arranged and completed the work with his colleague very efficiently. The chimney was soon removed from the roof. They fitted underfelt and battens and then tiled the roof area where the chimney had protruded from. The tiling on the roof was an excellent match. To make sure the external chimney breast running up the wall to the roof was unlikely to cause damp problems they fitted two air bricks in to allow ventilation. An excellent job. Many thanks.

I contacted Simon for a new roof covering a bay window and front door. The work was completed in two days to a very high standard, no mess, efficiently, using quality materials and exactly to spec. Communication was excellent throughout. I would recommend him to anyone.

Simon was sensitive to the aesthetic needs of the five terraced properties, built in 1850, when proposing a re-roofing solution to overcome shortfalls in the original arrangements. The work was executed in a timely fashion, to the original quoted cost and Simon was happy to review any aspect of the work at any point. Simon is a trader who has a good understanding of roofing structures and coverings and can be trusted to not over specify any proposed solution.

I had trouble with my gutter spewing water down the wall rather than down the pipe. Simon inspected and confirmed that the fall on the gutter need removing and re-aligning. A few days later after having given me an estimate, which was reasonable, he fixed the problem.

I asked 4 local Which? Trusted Traders for a quote to replace my leaking porch roof on my Victorian house. Simon Meadwell visited to see the job, talked about doing the replacement to fit the architecture of the house - he replaced the old felt with fibreglass with ribs, to look like lead, which is what it would have been originally. The old wood beneath was also replaced. He sent the quote when he said he would, it came in cheaper and more in keeping with the house than the other quote I received. The whole process was quite slow but I was kept informed on timescale so I knew where I was up to. He came when he said he would to do the job, did it quickly and neatly and was helpful with family still needing to get in and out while there was a ladder tied up across the front door and a van on the drive. The replacement porch roof looks great and will last for years.

Simon has just finished re slating and adding much needed insulation in the roof and rafters of our Edwardian house with a high pitched/angled roof. Not the usual job as it's higher and more steeply angled than most houses as the roof space/loft has a room within it. The job was to make good a disaster of a job that another roofer had attempted on the front of the house less than 18 months ago. I now know that there is a big difference between a roofer and a slater. If you have a slate roof, it has to be a professional slater like Simon. The whole job has taken 10 days and Simon and Jon have made the job a complete pleasure from start to finish. The roof and house has been completely transformed by this skilled job. The work on each day has been completed on time and the workplace has been left clean and safe. It sounds strange, but even with my layman's eye, I can see that the job has been completed to the very highest standards. All the tiles are re-used or the reclaimed period slate necessary on a house like this.. all the reclaimed slates blend in perfectly and the house looks fabulous. The job has been left clean and spotless. After my horror of the previous company I used, I know it's vital to hire the correct professionals for the job. I cannot recommend Simon and Jon highly enough. 5 stars all the way. Very Happy customer and happy to recommend 100%
