I have waited a while before reviewing Solar Dynamics (SD), as I wasn’t sure which direction it was going to go in. But I did know it was going to be honest, and fair: SD fitted solar panels on our roof, together with storage batteries and the respective inverters. Some of the installation didn’t quite match up to the sales pitch (e.g. roof tiles not being notched, for the metal brackets, wrong string inverter shown in the quote), but I wasn’t too worried about that. Several other mistakes/shortcuts arose at various times, and I could never quite work out if this was intentional (e.g. supplying a lesser string inverter, turning up without the quoted-for optimisers, external wiring not in trunking, missing schematics/electrical certificates), or if it was just poor planning and/or poor internal communication. My suspicion is that as an organisation they are just a bit disorganised, possibly as a result of how busy they are. For each of the flagged issues, SD was generally positive/responsive, in trying to get them resolved. This includes a recent failure of the plastic bird guard, allowing the birds in. This happened within the 2 year warranty period, and in the end I agreed to pay a bit more, to have it all replaced with a more durable metal bird guard system. On reflection, I think I would recommend Solar Dynamics, but I would just warn people that they can be a bit disorganised sometimes, and may need some careful monitoring and nudging, to keep them on track.
