We design and install bespoke solar panel systems for our customers.

I found this company through a google search and was pleased to see that they were a Which? Trusted Trader. Mark called out to see me soon after my initial enquiry. I was very impressed with his knowledge, honesty and price. He explained everything very clearly, and happily answered further questions later. The system was fitted by his team of three including himself. They were very professional and tidy. It was installed and working within a few hours. The app that's linked to the inverter is great, and perfect to show friends how the system is working. His aftercare is great too. I bought a system with eighteen panels and a four point eight kw battery. It's possible to run several things in the house, during a power cut, from the battery, which is fantastic. I generally opt for the boiler, router, light and tv. I have recommended Mark to many friends. They have all been impressed with his technical knowledge and fair price. He's not in the business to sell you something if it's not going to be of any benefit, unlike many of the rogues out there. I'm happy to recommend Mark to everyone wanting a good, efficient system, installed well and at a fair price.

15 solar panels across two roofs with battery and solar boost (water heating). I contacted a number of traders. One gave a quote for the wrong roof using Google maps. Another did not visit. Another was difficult to contact. Mark of Solar Gateway visited twice was easily contactable by phone answering all my questions. Work completed in one day. A mistake was made and rectified within a couple of days. I am very pleased with the performance of the system. It is as predicted.

I had solar panels installed with batteries and a water heater for the excess electricity produced. The whole system has worked brilliantly. The installation was quick and with no mess. Everyone involved was very professional and explained everything that was being done at each stage. They even fixed an existing fault in the fusebox which surfaced after the installation but which was in no way caused by it, and didn't charge me for the extra work even though it involved a separate visit a couple of months later. I'm really happy I chose Solar Gateway for the work and would highly recommend them. I would definitely go straight to them for any further work I might do in the future. I have also had the benefit of the summer months to know that we were really happy with the job.

My installation was done within 4 hrs of the men starting. Everyone abided by health and safety regulations and the team went about their business in a professional and competent manner. There was no damage caused by the installation and the men left the house tidy and cleared away all debris. First class service.

Mark at Solar Gateway was very helpful in helping me get to a PV and battery design that was right for my house. This was done over the phone across a number of weeks and involved Mark answering a number of both installation and technical questions. Mark was very clear in what information he needed from me in order for him to plan and prepare correctly for the install and on the day Mark and his team arrived on time and completed the install over 2 days - scaffolding was required hence the additional day. His team were professional and polite and the Inverter and Battery were installed in my garage exactly where I wanted them to be. The installers were also very clean and tidy too! It’s now over a month since the install the system is working perfectly. Mark linked me up with his hardware supplier so I could get some support regarding building a software interface to the inverter. All in all I am very happy with not only the pre-sales work with Mark but also the installation too. I would be happy to recommend Solar Gateway to other potential customers.

It started to go wrong the day after the install when the system was exporting the energy rather than using the battery - I chased for several day and was told they couldn't see why it was doing this so would have to send an engineer the next week. He didn't show up and there was no communication. So they tried again after another week. When he was an hour late I phoned and left a message to make sure he was coming and hadn't had an accident. After another 30 minutes I left a another message and an email. 2 hours late he showed up and I asked for some compensation for the system not working and being messed about but all they would offer was £100, and I accepted only if they fixed the system and had showed me proof it was working perfectly, otherwise I wanted it out and a full refund. It took an hour of changing and re-seating components, and re-routing cables to stop the strange signals the engineer was getting. After a few days I contacted the operations manager at Solar Gateway and asked where the £100 was, but they claimed they only said that because I refused to give the engineer access otherwise, and there was nothing wrong with the system nor had there ever been; he was unable to explain the hour of work... A month later on they are still unable to provide proof the system is working perfectly.. nor have they paid the £100 promised and now I'm considering legal action.

Thank you for your feedback. We would like to confirm that the system was working properly on completion of the installation. This was verified by our suppliers remotely which is standard practice. Although this was explained to the customer at the time, he unfortunately did not accept the information from the app and made frequent calls to our office and suppliers. Although this was explained in full, he did not accept any explanations and made changes to the system settings. We had to send an Engineer to reset the system and at the same time double check everything to be sure the system was fully functional. The Engineer called to say he could not make it on the day and we made numerous attempts to contact the customer without success. On the day the engineer did arrive, the customer would not admit him to the property unless we repaid his final payment or gave him a minimum of £100. We did neither as the system had been tampered with and needed to be corrected. After some time the customer admitted the Engineer to his property and the Engineer reset the system to the correct state. Again it was confirmed by our suppliers that everything was working as it should. We are still receiving calls asking for compensation and if we don’t agree then he will place negative reviews on Which? and take legal action. We are a small company and pride ourselves on customer satisfaction and we have done everything to satisfy this customer.
