I have had 8 panels fitted on the roof and 8 on the garage, together with batteries and iboost connected to the immersion heater. The work was all neat, tidy and completed on time. All paperwork necessary for exporting electricity was received correctly. I am very pleased I decided to use Solar Gateway for my installation and would recommend Mark and his team.

Quotes are of varying quality! SG was approached for a quote and came out as mid priced. What made SG standout was the interaction with Mark, the physical survey and the report generated prior to purchase. All questions were answered and the quote was comprehensive not just 15x 430w panels, 3.6kw inverter, 9.6kw batteries and bird proofing but a full report based on the panels orientation, roof slope and assessment of expected solar generation for my location based on the system quoted against my historic electric bills. He conducted an assessment of ground works, 10x panels house and 5x on a separate garage and took into account my concern about aesthetics such as slate roof tiles and control boxes. So the panels are all black, the batteries and inverter panel mounted in the garage and control boxes fitted in the standard electric box, so no house penetration. Scaffolding went up 3 days before installation then Mark and team arrived. The complete install including laying a cable (soft dig) between garage and house was done in a day! The MCS certificate, DNO notice and the Building Regulations Compliance Certificate arrived shortly afterwards, this made the process of switching to a new energy supplier simple. Now 3 months later I have not had to pay any electrical bills and have surplus to export. I highly recommend going with Solar Gateway and even if its just getting the free survey and report based on your requirements it gives you a good comprehensive starting point.

Our installer closed down and we had problems with our solar system and no one to help outside of some wanting a lot of money upfront just to come and look. Fortunately, a couple of friends at church had a solar system with which they were really pleased and they could not speak too highly of the installer, Solar Gateway. So I rang Solar Gateway and discussed our situation. Then they came to our home in Prudhoe (Northumberland) to inspect the system. Getting into our loft wasn't easy. They clearly really understood the systems and why ours was not working as it should. One of our problems was that we had the wrong dongle which would not work properly with the new Sky Broadband - to whom we had moved more recently. He fixed & updated the settings, ordered a new dongle and mentioned some changes we might make in due course to improve our system and payback. That said, it is now working so much better right now - we are very happy. They have registered with LuxPower as our "installer" and can now see all of our readings live so as to be able to monitor & adjust our settings as needed given the different seasons etc. Amazingly, Solar Gateway has done all of this for free, including no charge for the new dongle, because we were not well advised by our actual installer who had also cut some corners which we will sort over time. We are very happy to recommend Solar Gateway. Our system is just so much better and we have the comfort of their ongoing support. Happiness!

We are very pleased with our solar installation. Mark was very helpful and answered any queries we had. The solar panels and 2 batteries are working well and electricity costs are much lower. The whole installation took around half a day and went smoothly. Communication was good . The team friendly and polite. The left the site clean and tidy.

Solar Gateway carried out a 15 panel solar installation with inverter and battery. Mark was the only supplier to actually visit my property before he quoted for the install. The quote was very competitive. The work was carried out very professionally and the whole install was carried out in half a day and it was up and running, mark sent me the documents over so I can export and have not looked back. Great company to deal with and highly recommended.

Solar Gatway provided a great all round service from start to finish. Mark (the owner) took time to visit us, and to answer ask pour questions, providing the reassurance we needed before going ahead. When it came to the installation, everything was done very efficiently. Scaffolding was put up the day before installation and taken down quickly the day after. The battery and inverter were fitted in one day and only because of high winds did it take a second day to install the panels on our roof. All the team were friendly and professional, and Mark was in attendance too, and too time to explain how everything worked, how we could use the App to monitor the panels performance.

A good friend of my recommended them to me. So I went by his referral. Had solar-panels installed, had a little setback as twice got rescheduled on the day at very short notice. But when they finally installed the Solar-panels, they were quick, professional and efficient.

It started to go wrong the day after the install when the system was exporting the energy rather than using the battery - I chased for several day and was told they couldn't see why it was doing this so would have to send an engineer the next week. He didn't show up and there was no communication. So they tried again after another week. When he was an hour late I phoned and left a message to make sure he was coming and hadn't had an accident. After another 30 minutes I left a another message and an email. 2 hours late he showed up and I asked for some compensation for the system not working and being messed about but all they would offer was £100, and I accepted only if they fixed the system and had showed me proof it was working perfectly, otherwise I wanted it out and a full refund. It took an hour of changing and re-seating components, and re-routing cables to stop the strange signals the engineer was getting. After a few days I contacted the operations manager at Solar Gateway and asked where the £100 was, but they claimed they only said that because I refused to give the engineer access otherwise, and there was nothing wrong with the system nor had there ever been; he was unable to explain the hour of work... A month later on they are still unable to provide proof the system is working perfectly.. nor have they paid the £100 promised and now I'm considering legal action.

Thank you for your feedback. We would like to confirm that the system was working properly on completion of the installation. This was verified by our suppliers remotely which is standard practice. Although this was explained to the customer at the time, he unfortunately did not accept the information from the app and made frequent calls to our office and suppliers. Although this was explained in full, he did not accept any explanations and made changes to the system settings. We had to send an Engineer to reset the system and at the same time double check everything to be sure the system was fully functional. The Engineer called to say he could not make it on the day and we made numerous attempts to contact the customer without success. On the day the engineer did arrive, the customer would not admit him to the property unless we repaid his final payment or gave him a minimum of £100. We did neither as the system had been tampered with and needed to be corrected. After some time the customer admitted the Engineer to his property and the Engineer reset the system to the correct state. Again it was confirmed by our suppliers that everything was working as it should. We are still receiving calls asking for compensation and if we don’t agree then he will place negative reviews on Which? and take legal action. We are a small company and pride ourselves on customer satisfaction and we have done everything to satisfy this customer.
