Staunch And Flow Limited

Staunch & Flow helped my wife and me plan and carry out a complete renovation of our 1BR flat. This included stripping the bathroom and the kitchen 'down to the studs' and completely replacing them; also removing old built-in bedroom wardrobes, replacing most of the light fixtures, servicing the boiler and more. Sam helped us plan the project, choose the right fixtures and set a realistic budget. Even though we moved out of London for the project and were busy with our jobs, Lucian kept us involved using WhatsApp videos and photos. They really did a fine job, sticking to the timeline we had set and delivering the project on budget (apart from some changes that we agreed along the way). Even the inevitable bits of 'snagging' they have dealt with cheerfully and promptly. S&F are really great to work with, and we recommend them.

I have used Staunch & Flow for regular plumbing jobs for several years and they have always been reliable, knowledgeable and efficient. When I realised they also did building work I asked them to build a new bathroom at the top of the house by knocking through into the attic. The job required some engineering, building, plumbing, tiling and electric expertise and their builders were able to provide all these. The supervisor/surveyor was very pleasant and helpful and the foreman and 2 builders were just fantastic-very hard working, clean, reliable and helpful. They sent pictures and debriefed on a regular basis and the job was finished within 3 weeks, even though there was a good deal of structural and building work to do. The best thing about them is their willingness to address and solve problems-this is an old house and unexpected problems always arise. They would explain the issues, discuss them and suggest solutions. And they were always cheerful and pleasant even when things did not go according to plan!

I contacted ‘Staunch and Flow’ with a view to obtaining a quote for some plastering work. 'Staunch and Flow' replied to my enquiry, stating that they had someone available to visit the property and provide a quote, and that there would be an associated charge of £85 + VAT should I wish to arrange such. This was to be charged in advance of the tradesperson's visit, and would be refundable should I go on to instruct them to complete the associated works. I've never known any company/tradesperson to charge for the provision of a quote! None of the other 'Which Trusted Traders' I contacted requesting the same, attached any such associated charge! This, the fact that they required the money for doing so 'in advance', and that it would then be refundable should I instruct them further, seemed highly unusual to me. The refund element, to my mind, seems a ploy/tactic to ensure, or at least tip the balance in the company’s favour, as far as the consumer's likely selection of their company's services - as I imagine most people elect to acquire the quotes of at least 2-3 tradespeople before deciding upon who to proceed with; and if they are at least equally satisfied with this company's quote, or even perhaps slightly less satisfied, are likely to choose to instruct them, so as to get their money back. To me, the whole approach of this company in this instance, was cheeky, improper, and quite frankly dubious! Not an approach or words I would associate with a 'Trusted Trader'.

They gave a time of arrival and were on time, actually half an hour early! Solved my hot water issue. New part was required and not easily available but I knew a place not too far away. They went and got it and installed it very efficiently. I had made a earlier deposit and when the work was done paid the rest on the mobile phone of the plumber. The company emailed me the invoice immediately as fully paid. Outcome - very happy customer.

Dan, the tradesman, was outstanding in his ability to identify the source of the problem and address it in a competent and practical way. He was respectful, pleasant and reliable. I would recommend him to other friends and colleagues.

Company came highly recommended by a neighbour so when my boiler broke down I called straight away. Lady on the phone was very professional and gave me a run down of prices and a choice of appointment times. The young chap who attended was polite and friendly (can't remember his name - sorry!) and explained exactly what the issue was and how much it would be to repair. He then went and got the parts from a local plumbing shop and my boiler was up and running the same evening. Hopefully my boiler won't pack in again but wouldn't hesitate to use this company in the future for other jobs.

Searched on Google, then had a 15 minute chat on the phone with someone called Lloyd who advised clearly and objectively on a range of options for cooking and central heating. Will definitely come back to them for future work!

They redid bathroom and the downstairs loo. They were very efficient and took great care to do the highest possible quality work. They also tidied up everywhere after the work was finished. We are very pleased with the result which looks lovely.

This was a really good service as I needed someone to quickly remedy a botched job by a previous plumber. Tom provided a clear fair and accurate quote. He was punctual, courteous, professional and did a great job to a high standard and all within the time and costs he quoted. Highly recommend

When Staunch and Flow checked the gas reading after servicing my boiler they discovered a leak beneath the fitted wooden floor of the kitchen. The two craftsmen sent to attend were considerate, communicative,clean and efficient. The job so well done that there are no signs a problem existed. They warned me when traffic held up their arrival, were professional about the security of our flat, kept upheaval down to a minimum and left us with the comforting knowledge of whom to call in the future. Thank you.

This non-emergency problem was reported during the morning and a named plumber booked for 14.30 the same afternoon. A phone call from the office, well in advance, let us know that he was delayed on another job for half an hour and he arrived at 15.00. A leaking connection inside the tap and a badlly fitted and corroded waste were quickly diagnosed and the plumber drove my wife to the nearest supplier to select and buy replacements. These were fitted and the job completed, all within the hour. Excellent professional, helpful and polite service; absolutely no time-wasting. Very highly recommended.

I'm not one to post reviews unless I'm impressed (or horrified) by the quality of a job but I really feel Staunch and Flow deserve this good review. I'll definitely be using them again in the future. Their customer service is excellent, they're thoroughly nice people, lovely to deal with, efficient and professional. A quality plumbing service. Thanks Sam!

Drilled into a wall and burst a pipe. Unable to stop water flow as central heating had to drain. They turned up quickly and fixed the leak and reset and repressurised the heating system. BEST SERVICE EVER!!! Only charge was a very reasonable £85 call out charge.
