Tim Stirland Decorations

I contacted this contractor 2 weeks ago in order to get estimates for a flat I'm about to buy. He mentioned he needed as much notice as he could to organise himself so I planned the appointment with the real estate agent according to his availability. In the end, he wasn't able to make it and the location didn't seem appropriate to him (he knew where the flat was located when I sent my first email). I wouldn't recommend that contractor. We're all busy and it's slightly disrespectful.

I am pleased I contacted Tim and can recommend him and his team without any hesitation. Tim was easy to talk to and understood what I had in mind. Tim came with Neil and together they did a fantastic internal and external decorating work on the wooden doors and windows, masonry work on the facade and painting the iron railings. Some of the woodwork was badly weather-worn and damaged; it now looks pristine. They also restored the masonry details around the porch taking care and time to do a good job. They were considerate, quiet and very clean. You can see that they enjoy doing their work and take pride in what they do. Tim came back to check the completed works and did not hesitate sorting out a little snagging issue without any fuss. The works were completed to schedule and within the agreed quote.

Tim likes to talk. Often he talks paint. He knows a lot and offered good advice about the ceiling, walls and woodwork in our hall, landing and stairs. Then he and Neil prepared and painted thoroughly and carefully, cleaning up at the end of every day. Finished on time. Price reasonable. What's not to like?

Tim and his crew renovated the double living room in our late Victorian terraced house. It hadn't been touched for over 20 years, so the need was great! Tim was responsive and courteous from start to finish. All work was done to a high standard and with great attention to detail. As well as the walls, ceiling and woodwork, all of which required considerable preparation before painting, our hardwood parquet floor was in a dire state. Tim recommended flooring specialists he works with to sand, stain and seal it, and they too did a great job. The room still has a lot of its original features and Tim took great care to respect those. He coordinated everything well and was communicative throughout. The job took longer than estimated but Tim's attention to detail was worth it. His was not the lowest estimate we received but we definitely got what we paid for. Well worth it. We'll certainly use Tim again.

Tim redecorated the entire two bedroom flat including walls, ceilings and woodwork. The quality of work is excellent, in fact the flat has never looked so good. He also fitted a couple of things that needed doing. Everything was agreed in advance and the communication throughout was very clear and helpful. All the work was completed to the agreed schedule and quote. I am very happy with the work and would certainly use Tim again.

Tim and his team worked with me for a year to design and build our new kitchen extension and refurb our 4 bedroom victorian terraced house. Every design choice, material, paint shade, and detail went through Tim. He's very experienced, and he's got a great eye, but he also listens to what you want and helps you improve on it, if you listen. Many of the ideas that we are now enjoying this summer - gloss paint in the kitchen, so light bounces around it, for example - were his. And he steered us away from mistakes and corners we could have cut (e.g save money by getting a plykea kitchen, not on the quality of the glazing) In terms of the work itself, Tim pulled together a team. He doesn't have a large company but relies instead on a network of different tradespeople he's worked with for a long time. He's good at getting everyone to work together, in the right order, and also does the decorating and finishing himself, although there's not much he won't do himself. This isn't as fast as getting a firm in to blitz through a job, but in my opinion the results are a lot better, even though our job was massive, and we had to move out for six months to do it. So, if you are looking for quality, workmanship, and a great eye for design, finish and colour, then I would recommend Tim for all jobs, from painting, decorating to large projects like ours. The results are fantastic and we don't expect to need to need to He's an expert painter and decorator by trade

Tim, Neil and Brent did a cracking job painting the inside and outside of our Brixton house in Autumn 2022. The quality of the work was excellent - Tim is a perfectionist and will not charge for a job until he is happy it is up to his standards. To give an example - he came back a few weeks after finishing to repaint the front door because he wasn't happy with the finish (we hadn't noticed but he was right). Tim also has a quality rarely encountered in painter/decorators, in that he will produce a detailed quote, stick to it, and give regular updates in writing. His communication is excellent. What's more, he turns up on time and does what he says he is going to do. Finally, it's always potentially awkward having workers in your house, but Tim is a genuinely nice guy and a pleasure to have around. You won't regret using him and his team, and we will be using him again.
