Tincknells serves customers across Somerset, Wiltshire, Dorset, Avon and south Gloucestershire. It’s already a well-known name in the South West, with a great reputation for integrity and customer service. Company director Rob Ormond and heating services manager Richard Beck both emphasise that Tincknells is a ‘modest’ company, concerned more with providing a good service than making a fuss about it. But its recent win could change all that.

I had a new oil tank installed and a boiler service carried out today (30th October). I’ve been a loyal customer of Tincknells for 24 years and have always had the utmost confidence in the quality and reliability of their service. Because of this long-standing trust, I had no hesitation in asking them to undertake the installation of a new oil tank and the associated work involved. Once again, the team delivered an excellent job — professional, efficient, and courteous throughout. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the entire team for their outstanding service today. They are a credit to the company, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Tincknells to anyone looking for a trustworthy and dependable service provider. The workmen on site were exceptional, and I would kindly ask management to personally recognise their efforts — they truly do a fantastic job.

We employed Tincknell Heating to instal an unvented water cylinder, to remedy problems with water pressure and generally upgrade the system in our home. From estimate to completion the staff were very professional, helpful and friendly, both when visiting our home and later at the office. The work was carried out quickly to specification and completed on time and below the estimated budget cost! There was no fuss or mess and communication was particularly good. We could not recommend them more highly.

We have just had a new boiler fitted and I wanted to leave my praise for the work that was done. Mike, Gary, and Jamie were prompt and very efficient in pouring the concrete pad for our new external boiler the week before the installation, and Kes, Mattie, and Cruz, who did the boiler installation, were exceptional. Clear communication, very careful, neat, and precise workmanship, and incredibly helpful -- going well above what was necessary in helping us make better use of the space and preparing for our future renovation. This was a 10/10 experience -- would happily recommend to anyone looking for a new boiler.

Service was very thorough, and everything left clean and tidy. After the engineer examined the tank filters, one now started weeping fuel. This was eventually solved by replacing the offending filter in the following week, at no expense to me. All now good. Thank you

Tincknell Heating replaced our oil boiler in April and serviced our oil-burning AGA on 3 June 25. They arrived and completed the work on both occasions as previously arranged, and we were not disturbed while they carried out both jobs. The new Worcester Bosch boiler took 2 days to install and then commission. The 2 engineers were most proficient, advised us of what they were doing throughout, and were extremely helpful in instructing us in its operation. They positioned the boiler so that fitted cupboards were not overly displaced and carefully re-plastered where the exit flue passed through the outer wall. The job was carried out to our complete satisfaction, and having drained the system and refilled it, including some Furnox inhibitor, the whole system throughout the house has gone peacefully quiet at last; no bubbling or rumbles forever more, thank goodness. One engineer returned after 3 days to see if the system was working to our satisfaction and left all the necessary paperwork. The AGA was serviced and commissioned within 3 hours, and as always, the engineer did a very good job and left the area where he worked as spotless as it was before he arrived. Overall, we have always had very good service from Tincknell Heating, a company that prides itself in not only doing an excellent job but also in maintaining customer satisfaction. They may be a little more expensive than others but you can rely on a very good service and quality work that lasts the test of time.

Lee and his team installed a Vaillant aroTherm Plus 7kW air source heat pump and Vaillant DHW cylinder to replace an aged gas boiler, under the BUS scheme. From the initial heat loss survey to the end of the installation, we had excellent service. The team were polite, knowledgeable and completed the job within the expected time. They left the house tidy, explained how the system worked and all questions were answered satisfactorily.

My elderly boiler broke down last night. I contacted Tincknells this morning. pointing out that the oil level in my tank was very low - it could possibly be my fault. Nick at Tincknells said he would call me back in 20 minutes with an appointment time, which he did, but if the failure was due to lack of oil I would be charged for the unnecessary call out - feeling the chill, I agreed. The engineer called me at about 2.30pm and was soon at work on my boiler. Within about 30 minutes he had changed the motor and waved me a cheery good-bye. They could have treated me as a fool, but they were polite, friendly and efficient and did an excellent job. As I write this, I am toastie warm, and grateful.

After getting several quotes, we decided to go with Tincknell, so glad we did, they did an amazing job putting in our LPG Boiler. From the first consultation where they advised us on the best boiler for our needs (we stuck with the Worcester), to the fitting of the new boiler l cannot fault them. We wanted a company that we could rely on to look after us, and give us peace of mind in the future that we would be able to have it looked after for the servicing. Air source heat pump installation

We had an air source heat pump, UFH and radiators installed by Lee after he visited to survey our property prior to a major renovation. We had specifically sought out a Heat Geek accredited engineer for this work and Lee made an excellent job of the entire installation with the help of Ollie, managing to accommodate other trades as well as some timing issues with the build. The installation and commissioning were completed on time with no mess left behind. We're very happy with the after-sales service as Lee responded very quickly when we needed help to understand how the system runs. Would definitely recommend this professional and friendly company.

Lee and his team did an excellent job of switching my existing gas heating to a heat pump. From start to finish Lee was helpful in responding promptly to my emails and answering any questions including after the installation. When it came to the installation, in spite of the upheaval needed to adapt the existing system it was all done efficiently with no fuss. The whole team were friendly; they tidied up at the end of each day, finishing the installation in excellent time.

Boiler replacement

December 2024 storm damage rendered our old Hoval boiler inoperative. Tincknells had serviced the boiler and Aga for 35 years so on 9th December we asked them for a quote. With help from Nick Turner we approached insurers on 11th, which started a long dialogue querying various aspects of the project. Lee, the head man for the project, dealt with them too, pointing out why we could not repair the Hoval (no genuine Hoval spares were available for our out of date model, any substitutes would be deemed a ‘modification’) and why we needed a hot water cylinder as well as a boiler (the Hoval had been an integrated system, not separate). The estimate was finally agreed with insurers on 19th December. Scaffolding was erected on 20th. The old Hoval was removed after Christmas on 27th by Lee and Olly with a full crew of Tincknells workers. It was a tricky job as the boiler room is in the cellar down a flight of worn stone steps. Lee and Olly returned on 30th and 31st to install the new system so we had heat and hot water just in time for New Year’s Eve! The work was done with minimum disruption, very tidily and everyone involved was efficient, reliable, tidy and polite. There was a problem with the old circulation pump but that was resolved on 2nd January, the day we reported it. We are delighted with how the project was handled and would highly recommend Tincknells.

Lee did a great job in the initial survey and following design process for our heat pump, accommodating our thoughts and requirements for future works in his design. The whole team was brilliant throughout the installation process, working professionally, efficiently, and always leaving the house in good order at the end of each day, to allow us to remain in residence despite a full rework of the whole heating system. Had Lee and his team round from Tincknell Heating to install a heat pump and after a week I couldn't have told you they'd been apart from we had new radiators and a warm house. The lads were so calm throughout the installation process of our new heat pump and answered all the questions we had. Any special requirements for where we wanted radiators put they adhered to. Once the work was done there wasn't a trace that they'd upgraded almost all the pipework in our property. I honestly can't recommend these guys enough. So courteous, so efficient and so reliable. Genuinely people who are amazing at their jobs. Would 100% use again and will be booking our heat pump service in with them in a years time.

Installing a new gas boiler

Tincknells have serviced our oil boilers for nearly 60 years, and have heroically kept the 40 year old boiler going seeking out ancient spare parts. When it finally expired they fitted a new gas boiler in an efficient and professional manner. Tincknells was the most competitive quotation of the three and held the price for 6 months until we were ready to go. The communication before the installation was excellent. Small touches, such as a visit by the installer the week before to explain the process, were really valued. Jamie and Liam did an exceptional job installing the boiler. They were professional and friendly and left the house clean and tidy. A potentially stressful experience was as painless as could be and we would not hesitate to recommend Tincknells. We look forward to the continued servicing of our new boiler.
