About
My name is Tony Swainston. I am a qualified Building Surveyor in Basingstoke, a father to 3 girls, and set up my own practice in 2005. I manage to balance this responsibility with my other job of chief school run taxi driver!
I have more than 35 years’ experience. I have undertaken work as a Technical Assessor to trainee candidates and a site auditor checking upon other surveyors for compliance.
I provide Building Surveys and Specific Defect reports (eg. Damp investigations). My reports are written in an easy to understand format and likely include drone photographs of the property clearly identifying any visual defects.
I cover West London, the Home Counties, and surrounding areas. However, all areas are considered, and I have carried out work from Newcastle to Cornwall.
I also offer my clients the chance to join me for the last half an hour of the survey to discuss any defects or health and safety issues that I have identified, or to discuss any costs of improvement work. 07957 870 440

Tony carried out a SAVA (Surveyors and Valuers Accreditation) Home condition survey on two bedroom semi detached bungalow in Watford. I find Tony very professional, polite and friendly. The surveys he carries out are meticulous and detailed. The information provided is clear and concise and is more than sufficient to assist in deciding to proceed with any house purchase decision.

Home Survey of a property that I was intending to buy. Satisfactory and quite in depth survey completed for me. Tony allowed me to spend 30 min at the property with him for him to point out specific areas of interest. Furthermore, Tony was happy to give me a rough estimate of the approx cost of work required.

I found Tony to be not only professional but a pleasure to deal with, he seemed to have a genuine interest in making sure we knew everything about the property and also that we understood what he was talking about. This was our first purchase so we had very little prior knowledge. Tony took this into account and made sure we understood what was being done. I have used Tony twice and can thoroughly recommend him. Tony is passionate about his work. He is very thorough. I like 2 additional particular things about him. 1. After he has done a survey he invites you to walk round the property and shows you what he has found and discuss the implementations. 2. He has a very good knowledge of the building trade and can recommend possible remedies to building problems and give you a rough estimates of the costs.

I needed to find out how my house was constructed and if it had already been insulated. The insulating company were unable to advise me. I asked Tony to survey the house for me. He was very approachable and likeable and gave me a lot of useful advice. The outcome of the survey had probably saved me a lot of money. I would'nt hesitate to use Tony again in the future, money well spent.
