My experience with Smith&Byford was excellent, they were by far the most polite and friendly team of contractors I have worked with (I believed I had Andy and Bryn as fitters). They fitted a shower pump, replaced a sink, redid a toilet supply pipe and fitted an under-sink water filter in my kitchen, between the hours of 10 and 4. They took their shoes off straight away and were very curteous around the house, left everything clean and tidy when they left. The communication with the office regarding dates and invoicing was also very good, I spoke with Emma. What I appreciated a lot as well was that the team came out to do a proper survey of the work required (they came out twice, just to make sure), so that they could tell me what my options were and how to go about it. Previously I've had to pay a call out charge to a plumber just for him to tell me that he will need to order some parts and come back another time!

Efficient
We had had a problem with damp under the kitchen sink. Attempts to locate the problem over a number of months by our contracted maintenance had failed to identify the problem. In desperation we went to Which trusted traders and found Total Home Solutions. Andy and Bryn arrived at short notice. They were super efficient and speedily assessed and rectified the problem which other “professionals” had failed to do. When our current maintenance contract expires, we will be looking to Total Home Improvement for our boiler service etc.

Effective solutions to many problems
Smith & Byford installed a new boiler for me some 14 years ago. Since then I have had a Total Home Solutions policy with them to cover boiler servicing, central heating and plumbing. They have always responded quickly and efficiently to deal with the many problems that crop up around the home - running overflows, leaking taps, wonky ball valves, leaking WC cisterns, recalcitrant CH valves and boiler programmers. I also rely on THS for electrical work, the most recent being dealing with the aftermath of a water leak that affected my lighting. I really appreciate the professionalism of all involved in providing these services and their can-do attitude; I also know that I can rely on all tradesmen being properly qualified and vetted - something that can all too easily be faked nowadays.

Experts at Work
Many thanks to Jason and Bryn for replacing a bathroom sink and lagging outside pipes. The work was scheduled speedily after contacting Smith and Byford and at a reasonable price. Currently our boiler service contract is with a large organisation but after meeting Derek, Jason and Bryn and dealing with Jessica on the phone we will be transferring our contract to Smith and Byford as soon as possible. What a splendid team and so respectful of a customer's property i.e. shoes off and taking care with tools and equipment. Thank you for an excellent service.

Really pleased to find one business with plumber and electrician locally to aid property repairs It had been a struggle finding someone to turn up Required replacement of awkward to access mains water stop cock and repair of damaged electrical sockets both due to wear and tear over past 25 years Minimal bill over call out fee was a striking bonus Electrician D... and plumber S... were both tidy and friendly and pleased to answer questions about other future refurbishments

Problematic heated towel rail
We have had a Premier Gas service contract with Smith & Byford for many years. They have also serviced areas not covered by this contract, e.g. underfloor heating. An ongoing problem has been a heated towel rail in the bathroom, which has regularly stopped working. Del identified excess air in the associated pipe work, and recommended fitting Automatic Air Vents to release this air on an ongoing basis, which Simon fitted. This has solved the problem. Ably supported by Emma and Jess in the office. Well done Smith & Byford, and thank you!

Efficient Service
A great heating service provided at our house recently. Jason the engineer diagnosed the problem quickly, gave honest advice and ordered the correct parts at a good price to resolve our heating issue. His work is always neat and tidy. Very efficient and prompt service
At LEO Academy Trust we have 10 Primary Schools in various locations in South west London and Surrey and our offices in Cheam and we use Smith & Byford for all our gas boiler and Water Heater issues. The service is excellent as required for Schools from initial fault finding (Del) to the communication from there office team (Emma and Jess) and the installation engineers (Andy and Jason) who are professional and Knowledgeable. We’ve had a contract with Smith & Byford Total Home Solutions for a number of years. The customer service from the office staff is always excellent. Clear quotations are provided prior to commencement of any work and the engineers are consistently friendly and efficient. We have total confidence that any problems that arise will be promptly attended to and fixed, as was the case with recent shower cartridge issues. Definitely a company that can be trusted.

Fast and caring response
I've had an annual service contract with Smith & Byford (Total Home Solutions) for the past 3 years and have been very happy with the service that they have provided. Over the weekend, we had something of an emergency, and their response was not only quick, efficient and professional but also, sensing my distress, reassuring and kind. Great Service
A boiler probem occurred overnight - no hot water AM. Called and told an engineer would be along at some point before 1730hrs. Had a call after lunch to say engineer on way he arrived a few minutes later. Checked boiler and thermostat and could find no issue but thought perhaps a power cut overnight or a malfunction on the room stat, less likely, checked everything left in full working order. Reassured there are no serious issues

Simply brilliant!
When my mother's boiler broke down, the guys were round in a flash! Sadly it was old and beyond repair, but we had a shiny new one installed in a jiffy (and at an affordable price!) Mum speaks very highly of the guys and was very impressed with the work and post clean-up saying they left the place spotless afterwards! A great local company that has served my family well for many years. Special thanks to Emma for overseeing a smooth and quick resolution to our emergency call out & thank you to all the guys for looking after mum and for providing electric heaters while she was without a working boiler. Great work!

Central Heating
We have had a service contract with Smith and Byford for over 10 years looking after our central heating system and recently had a new boiler installed by them. Their work is exemplary, the boiler was fitted with no problem within 24 hours of being booked and the fitters Andy and Bryn were punctual, extremely tidy and courteous throughout. The service engineers and back office staff go out of their way to make everything easy and you feel valued as a customer. They are highly recommended.

Everything was Brilliant
I cannot rate this company highly enough. The service from the operator to the installer was exceptional. They were so flexible, so understanding. Having determined that the boiler needed to be condemned, they managed to change their schedules and install the boiler next day. My mother is 95, and they understood the urgency. The installers were professional, knowledgeable, charming. I know next to nothing about plumbing and boilers but felt I could trust this company 100%. Amazing.

Replacement Boiler and 4 tanks and 4 cylinders
I was extremely apprehensive about starting the installation on my house as it was a major install and has needed doing for a long time but due to the size of it I was holding off. Total Home Solutions were my ideal choice to do this work after receiving a few quotes. I was very impressed with how they handled everything. Total Home Solutions were very professional and did all the work to an extremely high standard. This job was very taxing as it was a big installation but they did everything superbly and there was nothing that was too much trouble. Emma, Bobbie and Dee looked after us in the office and took care of any extras that we needed doing and Andy and Bryn did all the work in the house and were polite, helpful and a pleasure to have around. Any problems that arose was treated with the utmost professionalism. I could not fault them for anything and I would recommend them to any one that wanted a major install or any work for that matter. Thank you again for all the work that you have done and for looking after us. I will be back for a replacement of my other boiler etc.

We had an initial issue where we had to change the installation date at very short notice and Emma was very understanding and very helpful in rearranging everything for us. My boiler installation was a particularly challenging job due to the length and set-up of the flue, including the considerable height at which it ran. In the months between the thorough and informative survey carried out by Derek, right to the post-installation phase, I received timely and comprehensive administrative support from Emma, expertly addressing any query or concern. In my long-term experience with the company, the office staff have consistently been a considerable asset, and the job was impeccably organised. The two installers, Andy and Bryn, proved very likeable, highly capable and remarkably tidy, ensuring that the work area was left spotless at the end of each day. Their presence over the installation period never felt intrusive. Simon explained clearly what was causing the leak, and the pros/cons of mending or replacing. I decided on replacement. Simon found a suitable new basin in a similar style, and installed it very quickly and efficiently. Such a relief! Very happy with this work.
