Extremely pleased with the service (as I have been over the last decade or so), but on this occasion, an engineer, by going the extra mile, found a remedy that saved me the cost of a new boiler. I recently had a problem with the plumbing in my kitchen so I phoned Smith & Byford, Cheam to book a call out, which was booked for the next day. The plumber arrived on time and proceeded to investigate the problem. Finally discovered faulty taps. He said he would contact the office to order the parts. Within a few days I received an email with an invoice for the work which I agreed to and arranged a day and time for the fitting. This worked perfectly, the problem was solved. The whole experience went very well, the office staff were friendly and the plumber very professional and answered any questions that I asked him.

Friendly and Personal service
I chose this company on the recommendation of a neighbour and I wasn’t disappointed. From the first phone call to the day of boiler installation the team were really helpful. We had lots of questions which Emma addressed quickly and efficiently. When it appeared that we might have to wait for a while for an installation date she moved things around in the diary to get to us more quickly. How to break the ice.
As you would expect, the worst possible time for central heating to break down, would be one of the coldest night this winter, on a weekend. Things were more difficult because there was a problem electrical with boiler. Once that was sorted out, a new part was requested and fitted. By then, we were finally warm. Even then, a new pump had to be installed. There were several difficult problems which the engineers had to sort out. Everything is now back to normal, thank goodness. I have to say that that Smith and Byford have done a great job, not just the engineers but also the office staff. They were all really helpful.

Fantastic job
Smith and Byford have just completed a rather large job on my house on my heating system that was not working to its full capacity. Firstly, I would like to compliment the ladies in Home Solutions that originally booked my appointment, they were very polite professional and done their very best to accommodate me. The job required many visits and every time they were on time and they were a pleasure to have working in my house. The last Technician was Jason that had to visit on numerous occasions through no fault of his own but he explained what the problem was and what he was going to do to resolve the issue. He was very polite, professional and respected my house. The job is now finished and I can not thank Jason and all involved enough for their hard work. It has been an absolute pleasure.

New boiler installation.
I had the necessity to renew my heating apparatus and ordered a new combi boiler, taking advice from the THS surveyor. The two very respectful fitters arrived promptly for the 4 days allotted, removing the old and re-siting the new with minimal mess. Covering all work surfaces with dust sheets, leaving all areas clean and tidy every day. I was informed of all work to be done in advance to ensure that I was happy. Would 100% recommend this company. The work ethic is second to none.A company that takes pride in their work.

Swift and efficient
Boiler leaking badly so we contacted Smith and Byford Home Solutions quickly in the morning and they sent an engineer within half an hour. He isolated the problem to make it safe but a new part was necessary to return it to workng order. We expected this to be after the imminent weekend but they located a part and we had the full job done that afternoon. Such a relief. Service friendly, sympathetic and efficient. Many thanks! A reliable company
We are always reluctant to change companies. A few years ago, the service from a large gas company was dire. One of my colleagues suggested to slook at Smith and Byford. When we first used them, we asked them to sort out the central heating. A manager surveyed the system and sent us a detailed report. We asked them to do the work. For the first time in over twenty years, the heating system worked properly. We now have a service contract. The company is good at solving problems before there are problems, such as ordering parts for the next service date. We have used them for electrical work as well as for other jobs. The level of service is excellent. A few years ago, there was a problem with the boiler. It was very cold. Even though it was an evening at the weekend, someone was sent to our house and sorted the problem out. All the people who have come to our house have been technically excellent. They have all been polite, cheerful and easy to talk to. The same goes for the offfice staff. After all these years, we still sing their praises. Thank you.

Very friendly and speedy service
I have had a service contract for a few months. Called up on the day before a bank holiday with a boiler leak. Emma in the office said she would do what she could before the bank holiday. Engineer was with me inside an hour. Very helpful and diagnosed the problem. He was hoping to get back to complete the repair that afternoon but couldn't get the part. Was back with me first morning after the bank holiday and it was fixed within the hour. I am very happy with the service. Emma couldn't have been more helpful nor could the engineer. Great service like this needs to be recognised and celebrated.

Fantastic work done to a very high standard First of all a massive thank you to the Home Solutions team, especially Emma in the office, Andy who did most of the work, the specialist boiler electrician, and Del who was the surveyor and explained to me what works would be carried out to replace the old boiler. We have used Home Solutions over the last 3-4 years as our old boiler has had lots of problems. They were very good at working out what the problems were and fixing them. However, finally we decided we needed a new boiler as our old one was 15 years old. When Andy fitted the new condensing boiler the works he carried out were very, very complicated as we live in an Edwardian house with some old pipework, including to our old water cylinder which we still use. Andy worked very thoroughly and efficiently, took his time and did not take lots of breaks (like some tradesmen we have had over the years!). He explained to me what he was doing as he went along and was very friendly. Our heating and hot water has never been so efficient. Perfect job. The job was done very thoroughly and to a very high standard, especially sorting out the old original pipework which had not been fitted properly to our old boiler and the electrical wiring. Once again a massive thank you to all involved from Home Solutions.

New Boiler Installed during Covid Lockdown
During the Covid lockdown in April 2020 the boiler in my flat broke down and I was without heat and hot water. I contacted Smith & Byford who arranged for an engineer to call (as an emergency due to my age) and then they arranged and installed a new boiler. The service from their office and their engineers has been amazing, they promptly answer and deal with any enquiries you my have and they are so helpful. They have since given an annual service . If you want a professional helpful service then use this firm. EICR and electrical remedial works in a home
Our church leases a property (house) to a tenant and we contracted Smith &:Byford in Sutton to undertake an electrical survey (EICR) and a fairly long list of follow-on electrical remediation works including a new fuse box. I arranged this as the church trustee with a maintenance lead role and as a former treasurer. I found Smith & Byford easy to deal with and on the ball. Clearly significant electrical works in the home are potentially disruptive, but our tenant has nothing but praise for Smith & Byford in their communications to set things up and in carrying out the work. She wrote: "I was so impressed with Smith & Byford, such professional men and cleaned up after themselves too!!!" As a church we received timely communications, clear reporting and fair pricing. Happy to recommend, and we have used Smith & Byford for electrical renewal works at the church itself with professionalism demonstrated throughout.

Exceptional service from a great Local Company
This is the second time I have used Smith and Byford for works in our home - last year when we needed a new stopcock installed and then again a few weeks ago when our old boiler (which was thankfully in the garage) leaked all over the floor. They really provide an exceptional level of customer service from the initial phone call (Dee), emergency call-out (Steve), discussion as to what replacement boiler would be appropriate (Dell) to the engineers (Andy and Bryn) who carried out the installation and then finally a follow-up visit (Dell) to check that I was happy with the job. The whole team are really friendly, helpful and very professional. I am absolutely delighted with my new boiler and am so glad to have found a local company who provide such an exceptional level of service from start to finish.

Old boiler given the kiss of life!
Derek (Del) was the engineer sent by Smith and Byford on Friday the 12th of February. My old Combi boiler had broken down on the Wednesday and on Thursday 11th a British Gas engineer gave it the once over and declared it needed a power flush or alternatively, I should get a new boiler. I took my brother's recommendation and phoned Smith and Bryant. Del was happy to let me talk through what had happened. I should tell your readers that I am a very nervous elderly man who panics whenever things go wrong and certainly not able to afford a new boiler installation. Del was the opposite of the British Gas engineer. He puzzled over what was wrong and systematically went through a series of examinations to discover the fault. Del went far beyond the call of duty. He was interested in solving the problem. He told me he always wants to give value for money. And then Eureka! He discovered a hot water microswitch (I think that was what it was) that had given up. He took the trouble to show me how it should work, and with magic fingers, twiddled a nodule to allow it to become properly active again. Hey presto, the heating was on again. One day before, I had had a quote from British Gas for £830 and yet Del for all his detective work and ingenuity charged me one hour's work plus VAT = £84. I was, and am so happy. that I have asked Smith and Byford to replace one non-working radiator and I shall now happily subscribe to their cover plan for repairs. Well done Del!
