We had some issues with our back door for a while, which got worse and worse over time and with changes with weather - until a point where it was very difficult to close. We also had some problems with the front door, which we'd been ignoring for some time. We decided to finally take action - searching Which and found Paul. He was round the same morning and completely solved all our problems. He gave us extremely helpful advice, taking the time to explain and demonstrate things to us in a way which was extremely accessible. He also greatly improved the security of our family - installing a far better lock in response to our concerns for the front door. All for an extremely reasonable price. Additionally he was extremely respectful of our home and very patient with our toddler! I contacted Paul because I wanted to upgrade the two locks on my front door to police/insurance approved standards and also deal with the fact that the door was generally hard to lock and unlock. Paul explained the options which included sending a video of one of the higher security options. He clearly set out the prices for labour and parts and that's exactly what I paid - there were no hidden extras. He contacted me half an hour before arrival and then did a fantastic job, cleaning up everything perfectly. I am so happy with the new locks and only wish I'd had it done sooner!

My door lock had been playing up a little for a few weeks but suddenly became worse and I was concerned I'd end up locked out and in an emergency situation. Needed to replace a broken front door lock on my mother’s house. Spoke to Paul on Sunday and arranged a visit for Monday. Thomas turned up bang on time, understood what we needed and quickly and professionally replaced the lock. Could not have asked for a better service.

I called WG Locksmiths when my mother had a fall and we were unable to access the property to help her (though we had keys) as the snib was down on the Yale. Thomas arrived in about 30 mins, and explained the things he could try to access the property, which order to try them in and costs involved. He was able to get the door open, without damaging the existing locks, and also (at his suggestion) removed the snib so that this problem would not recur. Throughout the process Paul (who I spoke to on the phone and by text) and Thomas were helpful and professional, and kept me updated regarding arrival time.

Came to fix the problem. Identified what needed to be done. Not an easy job, bottom internal security lock for door of French window. Replaced the lock. We can now open the door easily. No mess. No problems. Reasonable price. I did appreciate the call before he came to confirm the appointment. Shows he is reliable.

He was round very quickly as he found a gap in the schedule, and he was friendly, professional and told me all the costs in advance (which were very reasonable). We used Thomas to repair a number of broken UPVC window locks that had been bugging us for months and we had struggled to find anyone to repair. The lock on my upvc window handle had stopped working. He carried out a thorough assessment to see if it was the lock, the handle or the window alignment, explaining everything as he went. We decided to replace the handle which he had on the van and the cost was made clear before he started work. The work was completed within 20 minutes and I have a 1 year warranty on the new handle. WG Locksmiths we’re able to fit in a repair to a front door lock that had jammed at short notice. In arranging the repair photos were requested to see the type of lock that had broken. The locksmith arrived early on the arranged day (after phoning to check first that this was ok) The barrel needed to be replaced and the work was completed straightaway. I was given a choice to choose the level of security lock to replace the broken one. The labour costs were provided beforehand and the additional cost was for the replacement parts as the lock couldn’t be repaired. The work was carried out to a good standard efficiently.

Paul the locksmith is to be highly recommended for his good work and professionalism. I was dog sitting at my friend’s house so she could take a holiday. I decided to Chubb lock the front door, to give extra night time security. The next morning I found it was impossible to unlock the door, no matter how hard I tried. I contacted my fiend’s sister, who had a spare key, but she couldn’t unlock the door from the outside either. As a long standing Which? subscriber, I searched for Which? trusted traders and found Paul. He was very helpful, and was able to come to me the same morning. He gave me a quote for the work and gave me an update on his progress on his way to my address. Unlocking the door was tricky due to the nature of the faulty Chubb lock, but Paul was able to ‘rescue’ me despite not being able to access the inside of the house. It was quite a task to get in, but there was no damage to the front door. I would recommend Paul. His fees are very reasonable and he explained what he was doing whilst working.
