Changing industry, constant excellence

‘I started my business in 1986 with a clear purpose: to deliver exceptional service and provide people with the best solutions to their problems,’ says Steve. 

‘I'm deeply passionate about what I do and about the industry itself. Encouraged by peers who recognised the quality of my work, strong ethics and commitment to value for money, I took the step to establish my own company. These principles remain at the core of everything I do to this day.’

Since then, Gregor Heating has grown to employ over 125 professionals across different operations such as new builds, installations, servicing, and repairs for gas, electrical and renewable heating and energy solutions.

Despite the years of expansion and changes in the industry, Gregor Heating’s standards have been consistent, and the company aims to maintain the close-knit feeling of a family-run business.

To maintain these high standards, Gregor Heating ensures that their service department engineers are trained up on the different types of renewable systems, as every year more customers move away from gas and oil boilers, adopting more sustainable options such as heat pumps and solar panels.

The company also looks to the future, taking on many work experience placements and apprentices, who then go on to successful careers in the industry.

Charity and community

Gregor Heating was also commended for its charitable efforts and free advice. The company raised over £1,300 for St Peters Hospice with dress-down days at the office, and six employees tackled cycling challenges of 65km and 100km.

It also donated a considerable number of Easter eggs for Operation Community Hamper, which meant that families across Bristol were able to receive and enjoy hampers filled with Easter treats.

During cold weather spells, frozen condense pipes can be a significant problem. Gregor Heating raised awareness of the issue and offered free advice via social media to help prevent any issues, and potentially the need to call out an engineer.

One judge, impressed with this community-focused thinking, said: ‘The pro-activity of warning their customers about frozen pipes and how to resolve this demonstrates how they're supporting their customers, and not focusing on just how to make the company more money and get more call-outs. To see a family-run business grow over 35 years to a 100+ employee company is huge. They seem to really value their staff and this is reflected in the service they offer.’
