Bumblebee Plumbing and Heating has been named Which? Trusted Trader of the month for June 2022. We had a chat with Ross Coen, owner and founder at Bumblebee Plumbing and Heating, to find out more about how the company has grown over the years.

Buzzing about customer service
Trading since 2015, this family-run company offers a range of services relating to boilers, central heating and gas. Since then, the company has gone from strength to strength and was endorsed by Which? Trusted Traders at the end of 2016. Currently the company has eight engineers, with office-based staff and seven vans to assist customers.

Having received the award for Boiler and Heating Installer and Contractor in 2018 and 2019, this local Warrington company claims to be ‘buzzing about service’ In fact, customer service is at the heart of everything the company does.
Timeliness is also crucial for Bumblebee. So, to better serve its customers, Bumblebee has invested in an SMS system that alerts customers when the engineer is on his way.
Despite the awards under its belt for its excellent services, Bumblebee hasn’t rested on its laurels. Its dedication to customer service is well reflected in its impressive five-star rating (from more than 240 reviews) on the Which? Trusted Traders website, where customers have highlighted its reasonable prices and professional attitude.
’A highly professional, friendly, competent tradesman who did a great job and the cost of the work was reasonable’. Another pleased consumer said: ‘He did a fantastic job, cleaned up after himself and explained how the system worked using the new thermostat. Very impressed and I would highly recommend them.’
Kasey Thomas shared more about this deserved win, ‘this company is continuously going above and beyond for customers through their charity work and helping the local community.’
Charity work that can save lives
Beyond its stellar customer service, Bumblebee’s charity work also impressed the Which? Trusted Traders judges: ‘Love the work they are doing in the local community. I feel proud to have Traders like this on board as they really are a shining example of the type of businesses we want to be involved with.’
Inspired by Christian Eriksen collapsing during a Euro 2020 match, Bumblebee created the #BEEaHero campaign. This involved taking £50 of the profit from every boiler installation to support a local cause by donating a life-saving defibrillator. The result was donating four defibrillators to local community groups, such as Matthiola FC, A Team Hub and First Act Drama Tuition.
Ross Coen told us: ‘We intend to extend this idea by having one in each van and training every member of the team on how to use them. [..] if anyone sees our (very loud) Bumblebee vans they can flag us down should anything happen.’
Bumblebee is a regular contributor to the Warrington and Halton Hospital, giving presents every year at Christmas. And its staff carry out other charity work such as charity fundraising to support cancer research.
A proud Which? Trusted Trader
The company is proud of its affiliation with Which? Trusted Traders and has been keen to show off its Trusted Trader endorsement, which has really helped its business. ‘We are very proud to be part of the team and we feel it really helps separate us from others in an industry full of chancers and cowboys.’
The Trusted Trader logo can be clearly seen throughout the entire organisation. As Ross says ‘It would probably be easier to say where we do not display the Which? logo.’
It uses the logo on its vans, website, leaflets, adverts and uniform. Ross and his team even came up with new and creative promotional items, such as Which? Trusted Traders branded radiator keys, which are given to customers.
Bumblebee also found a creative way to include the logo on a branded baby kit when a volunteer for Matthiola FC Under-7s football team gave birth.
Bumblebee makes sure its customers are aware of the advantages of being a Which? Trusted Trader, too.
‘When we quote for a boiler, we send a link to the code of conduct and explain how by using a Which? Trusted Trader the customer is protected. This really helps break down potential trust barriers and puts the customer’s mind at rest.’
