A history of reliability and growth
Associated Stairlifts has been established for 35 years, making it the longest-running stairlift company in Leicester, and one of the longest-running independent stairlift companies in the UK.
Director Andy Lewis worked for a large stairlift manufacturer from the age of 17, and went on to briefly work for an independent supplier. Both only sold brand-new stairlifts, and Andy spotted a gap in the market for reconditioned and rental stairlifts.
‘No other companies were offering reconditioned and rental stairlifts at the time, and not only could these stairlifts be installed faster than waiting for brand-new ones to be made, but they are also more affordable,’ said Luba
‘So, at the age of 22, Andy established Associated Stairlifts as a sole trader before becoming incorporated in 1998, and he has never looked back.’
Today, the company holds over a decade of accreditation as a Which? Trusted Trader, maintaining a five-star rating based on 259 reviews, with 100% of customers saying they would recommend the business.
A comprehensive and transparent approach to customer service
Associated Stairlifts distinguishes itself through a strong commitment to customer service, providing support from the initial enquiry through to installation and beyond.
Unlike many competitors, the company doesn’t employ sales representatives. Instead, surveys are carried out by managing directors or fully trained engineers, ensuring customers receive honest, expert advice. Pricing and expectations are clearly explained from the outset, with no hidden costs.
The business is also committed to nurturing future talent, offering in-house training and apprenticeship opportunities to help instil its values in the next generation of engineers.
‘We’re looking to grow our team and take on more apprentices as soon as possible, having trained several from scratch. We know this is the way forward, as we can teach them our values and expectations,’ said Luba.
Customer feedback posted on the Which? Trusted Traders platform reflects the results of this approach.
‘Associated Stairlifts are very reliable, efficient and kind on your pockets,’ one customer commented. ‘The work was done really quickly - installation and demonstration were done in under an hour. Very happy with everything.’
Another happy customer said: ‘The fitters arrived on time and were efficient, tidy and courteous. The product is excellent.’
Going beyond business: charitable work and community involvement
While the company is best known for its high standards of service, it’s also deeply involved in charitable and community work. On two occasions, the team has installed stairlifts free of charge for elderly veterans, also providing them with lifetime warranties.
‘We felt that it was the right thing to do considering what these men did for us,’ said Luba.
In addition to this, the team frequently involves itself in numerous charitable works.
‘We love supporting Wishes 4 Kids and have done since 2018,’ said Luba. ‘The latest highlight that we’re particularly proud of was definitely the free fall that our colleagues took part in. The team at Associated Stairlifts are up for everything, especially when it involves helping the kids.’
The team has also been known to support the charity through race days, golfing events, and Christmas fundraisers, as well as helping out the local Girl Guides, the Pulmonary Fibrosis Trust, Blesma, Motor Neurone Association, and more. Charities working with the company also benefit from discounted rates.
