November 2018’s Which? Trusted trader of the month is Inspiration Computers

We caught up with co-owner Alison Grant to find out why being a Trusted trader helps to give her customers confidence.

Family-run business Inspiration Computers impressed the judges this month with its charity work in the local community, and its glowing reviews.

More than 125 satisfied customers have reviewed the Yorkshire-based company on the Trusted Traders website at the time of writing, praising its ‘friendly and efficient service’.

Judges heard that the business had also passed a recent inspection by one of our assessors with flying colours.

Jargon-free support

Husband-and-wife team Lee and Alison Grant started Inspiration Computers in 2003 with the aim of giving customers jargon-free support.

‘We’re not overly techy,’ Alison explained. ‘We use language everyone can understand, and I think the no-jargon approach really helps. Our primary aim is to get people sorted.’

As well as running their own business, looking after two young children and adding an adorable puppy to the family, the couple also find time to help local charities.

‘We only sell new equipment, so we refurbish donated machines to go to charities, playgroups and women’s refuges,’ Alison told us.

The company also provides free or reduced-cost services for good causes and, instead of charging for printing and photocopying, it asks customers to donate to charity.

‘All these little bits are a donation back to the community that supports us,’ Alison said.

Giving customers confidence

Three years ago, Inspiration Computers joined the Which? Trusted Traders scheme because Alison and Lee wanted to give customers extra confidence in their services.

‘We’ve been subscribers of Which? and we know it’s very much a trusted brand,’ Alison explained.

‘There are people who don’t know who to go to with their computer problems, so we wanted them to have peace of mind with a country-wide recognised brand.

The surprise visit from our assessor Alistair in September only increased the Grants’ faith in the scheme. ‘It’s nice to see Trusted Traders are checking up on people, making sure the standards are kept high,’ Alison said.

Valuing small companies

After being told Inspiration Computers had won the November 2018 trader of the month award, Alison said she and her husband were ‘over the moon’ and really excited to tell everyone.

‘We think we’re the first computer business to win. And there’s just two of us, so it shows Which? values the small companies as much as the big guys,’ she said.

‘We reply to every review on the website and we know that all the reviews on there are genuine. We’re really proud of what we’ve achieved.’

Congratulations to Inspiration Computers, November’s Trusted trader of the month.
