1st Choice Stairlifts is an independent family run company providing a wide choice of lifts that fit most stairs and homes for over 20 years.
Our Directors Coral and Colin Major have over 60+ years experience in the stairlift industry, working for the manufacturers before setting up 1st Choice Stairlifts in 2004.
We install stairlifts, Homelift Elevators and Wheelchair lifts, and we service, repair, maintain and remove lifts too.
We install new, reconditioned and Rental models for all stair types including Straight, Curved, narrow and even spiral stairs.

My stairlift was beyond repair on the Thursday morning and I thought I'd have to go weeks without being able to get upstairs at all but no. In come 1st choice and bang. New one fitted Friday afternoon and all was well again. Could not fault the service in anyway at all. The service was well beyond a 5-stars. If you're looking for a company to install a stairlift for you don't look any further than 1st choice. You WILL NOT be disappointed

Having just read through 1st Choice's 20th Anniversary magazine, I just felt that I had to do a quick review. Since our first visit to the showroom in 2017 and meeting Lindsey we have been very impressed with such a professional company. A through the floor Wessex Lift was installed in January 2018 and we have been looked after throughout the years with services and any issues arising. Last Monday we had a power cut and my husband was stuck in the lift and very distressed. I could not remember how to bring the lift down! I called the office and within less than 5 minutes, Pete called me and talked me through what to do. It was so simple, just pressing one button but I was in a panic at the time! First class and an amazing company, who always go above and beyond. We definitely made the right decision to go with 1st Choice.

I have had an issue with cancer over the new year which has rendered me unable to walk. We were put on to 1st Choice Stairlifts as they do rental packages which make their lifts more affordable. We took this up and a rep was out the same day to assess our requirements. He was very helpfull and understanding and there was no pressure to go for something more expensive he just focused on what we were asking for. He was able to sourcexa lift which could be fitted a few days later. We went ahead and sure enough the installer arrived on time and completed the job quickly and left no mess. He ran through all the features and use of the lift ensuring we had a full understanding before he left. Everyone we have encountered from 1st Choice whether face to face orxon the phone have been very friendly and helpful. I couldnt recommend them enough.

Due to covid19 the gentleman that fitted the lift was very professional with safe distancing, wearing ppe to protect himself and myself too. Also the gentleman that fitted the electric supply, and all that was involved with the telephone calls. I would fully recommend first choice stairlifts with a 5 star.

I’m adding a review on behalf of my elderly housebound mum, who had her stairlift installed today in Gloucestershire. I have had to be directly involved throughout the process at mum’s request. Absolutely faultless sales service first starting just before the March 2020 lockdown, right through to the installation engineer on site today. It’s a fabulous stairlift, everything was explained really well. The engineer was very patient to ensure my mum understood everything. This is going to made en enormous difference to my mum’s safety.

From the first phone call to enquire about buying a stairlift an appointment was made for the next day for a Surveyor to come and assess the stairs. We were then invited to visit their showroom that afternoon so my husband to try 2 lifts. The following week the Surveyor returned to complete the detailed measurements required. Electrical and carpentry work required was efficiently organised and completed. The stairlift was installed today (when the hottest temperature was recorded in the U.K.). The instillation engineer was excellent and the demonstration at the end was clearly explained so my husband was confident to use it. The fact that this company is local and a family business makes a massive difference, The price was fully outlined and we were guided to the best stairlift for our staircase. Our grateful thanks to everyone at 1st Choice for enabling my husband to safely use our stairs once again.

Other installers told me I could not have a stairlift fitted because of our narrow staircase and my long legs. 1st Choice came out very quickly, solved the problem by showing us the Oto Curved stairlift and had it installed in no time with no mess at all. I cannot believe the difference this has made to my life after struggling so long to go up the stairs. The staff are all so friendly, but at the same time very professional. I cannot recommend 1st Choice Stairlifts and the Oto Curved Stairlift highly enough.

We had a stair lift fitted yesterday for us in our old cottage with a complex, really narrow and curved stair case. Although it had taken 6 months for Bill to feel ready to have the stair lift fitted after the initial quote 1st choice stuck by the original price. During the installation the engineers Jamie and Pete discovered that we had a rotten floor joist just where they needed to fix the rail on the landing. Rather than give in they fixed it on the day and even nailed some other loose floor boards down for us too. They were incredibly inventive utilising some wooden fence posts we had to fix the floor joists. They just got on with the job and we’re very cheerful and professional. No additional cost for the extra hours the work took. The stair lift is wonderful and already Bill has started to feel much better with not having the daily nightmare/ trauma of getting up and down the stairs. I had my stairlift installed, much needed, as I was having trouble going up and down my stairs. From initial contact until installation, the process was dealt with very speedily and with great care, asking frequently if I understood what would happen on installation day. The engineer was on time and was very polite and knowledgeable about what was going to take place. He was aware that I would want to go upstairs at some point while the installation was taking place and he left the premises to allow me some privacy. All in all a job well done with the minimum of fuss and upheaval.

My wife has had a 1st choice stair lift for three years. It has proved to have been an excellent product. The company has always been totally customer focused and has given wonderful service. We have always felt valued as a customer. The stair lift has given my wife back her independence. It has been regularly serviced by 1st choice. The most recent service was carried out on 20th June and the engineer did a great job, his attention to detail was outstanding and he did not leave until everything had been checked and my wife had used the stair lift and was completely happy. We have in fact recommended the company to three people who have had stairlifts installed and they are delighted with their purchase and the service they have had. I have no hesitation in recommending 1st Choice to anyone who is in need of a stairlift, they will not be disappointed.

1st Choice Stairlifts recently replaced my old Stannah stair lift with a new Platinum Curve model. This was arranged with them whilst I was in hospital recovering from a stroke and they provide good liaison with me to arrange for the work to be carried out. The work was carried out as soon as possible in order for me to be able to leave hospital as it was essential for me to be able to access my upstairs bathrooms. They arrived on the agreed date and time and the removal and installation was carried out quickly and efficiently on the same day, both operatives were friendly and professional and kept me informed as to what was happening and did an excellent job.
