Daniel at ASL understood immediately that Thames Water made a big mistake

Thames Water came at my request due to a blocked sewer on my property that also caused a smelly disgusting flood on my elderly neighbour's adjoining property. The Thames engineer told me that the sewer was private Single Serve and therefore he could not fix the issue, I would need to call a private contractor and pay for it. I called ASL, spoke to Phil, who was sympathetic, quoted what seemed to be a very fair price to rod and water jet the sewer back to normal, and dispatched Daniel to my home. Daniel visually checked the manholes adjacent to my home, then came down to open my fully blocked manhole. Daniel knows his stuff, and by also picking out all the shared pipework between the buildings, he knew immediately that Thames Water was mistaken in their appraisal, this was a Thames Water problem and in fact a Shared Sewer, not a Single Serve. He suggested that I call Thames Water back to set this issue straight. Daniel was very kind, NOT charging me for this callout, and allowing Thames Water to fix the problem for free. When Thames Water came out for the second time, the new engineer completed agreed with Daniels assessment and sorted the problem, while also remapping the sewer plan so that this mistake shouldn't happen again in the future. Thank you Daniel for your knowledge and compassion. You could have taken advantage of the situation, but honesty and integrity prevailed.

Rainwater drain reconnected

Following the investigation reviewed here on 23 June a further visit by ASL was arranged. On 26 July an excavation revealed disconnected underground pipework. The proposed solution was new pipework and that new pipework should be laid beneath my block-paved driveway. Work planned for 05 October had to be rescheduled as work along the road compromised access to my home. Email to ASL on 03 October reported this problem. A phone call from Phil at ASL shortly afterwards set a new date of 17 October. Dan and Carl excavated a large hole nearest the downpipe and exposed previously unseen pipework. Dan devised a solution and this was implemented on 18 October. During that work several lengths of dense fine root were removed from existing pipework. The driveway was restored and left neat and tidy with excess sand and gravel bagged and removed by Dan and Carl, and the surface swept. Throughout their visits to my home, Dan and Carl kept me informed of progress and proposed solutions to problems. Good communication is a feature of ASL Limited with prompt attention to emails and phone calls to clarify estimates etc. It is a pleasure to report that the cost of the works in July and October came in significantly below the estimates; on both occasions the unexpected problems encountered meant that the estimated work could not be achieved. I am pleased to recommend ASL Limited.

A phone call to ASL Limited on Monday morning was answered promptly and, after a short conversation, a visit by an engineer was booked for Tuesday. Contact details were emailed as requested and acknowledged with an auto-reply that included advice that "A member of staff will be in touch shortly." That promise was fulfilled within the hour and confirmed the visit on Tuesday. Later on Monday I had to ask that a period around the middle of Tuesday be avoided as a family member had a work schedule changed. This was answered within minutes and advised that the engineer would work around that period of absence. On Tuesday, engineer Darren arrived at 0740 and worked hard to free a slow-draining rainwater drain. A powerful water-jet was used to free some of the debris in the drain. Although the block persists - the drain was installed incorrectly - Darren was able to suggest a solution. His detailed invoice included a quotation for that work. By mid-afternoon on Tuesday ASL emailed a three-page report with recommendations and an estimate of the work involved to fix the drain. The team at ASL is to be commended for its response to my enquiry, especially its use of email which is so often neglected by service companies. Darren was a pleasure to have at my home and kept me informed of the methods he was going to try, to free the drain. I can recommend ASL Limited for its splendid service which I shall use again to implement its proposed solution.

Today, Ken from ASL came to visit my property, as an initial visit to give advice on a water problem I was experiencing in my garden. The initial communication with ASL prior to Kens visit was impeccable - Clare was extremely helpful and informative, above and way beyond all others I had previously tried to engage with concerning the matter (local council). When Ken arrived, he was not only sympathetic, understanding and seemed to really care that I had been struggling with the issue, he was also very approachable, happy to answer all my questions, extremely knowledgeable and after some initial investigations, gave me advice as to what I could do next. He explained things clearly and demonstrated what he could, so I had a better understanding of the situation. I would highly recommend ASL without question; I only wish I had engaged their services long before now. Spot on service!

Very efficient to book them to sort out a sewer drain blockage and cost was exactly what they quoted. Called before they arrived with a clear ETA. Got on with the job and sorted it out within the hour. Darren was excellent - very courteous, and helpful, did more than we expected to help sort the problem out and was a font of knowledge on all things sewer related. Given the subject matter (eeew) the whole experience with ASL was an absolute pleasure.

ASL recently caried out a drain repair at our house. They responded quickly to the call for help, came out and soon diagnosed the problem – tree roots blocking the drain. The remedial work on site was carried out by Lester and George – they worked hard and were very thorough. This is a long-established company who seem to know what they are doing.

Knew I had a leak in my drains (under the garage floor!) called them Wednesday, they came straight out, surveyed drains with camera, gave me a quote & did the job the following Tuesday! Both the original surveyor & the 2 men who did the job could not been nicer or more professional ( no sucking of teeth & shaking of head over how difficult a job it was!!!) They arrived on time, carefully moved various things like the BBQ out of harms way, did the job, put everything back as it was, No sign of them having been here. Could not have wished for better service. This is second time I have used them, I foolishly did not leave a review first time, when they replaced a troublesome interceptor, they were just as good on that occasion, so thoroughly recommend them.

Our kitchen sink became blocked. When I phoned, the lady I spoke to was helpful, & booked me in for a callout. ASL sent an engineer the same day I phoned, who successfully unblocked the sink, & cleared up the mess made. He was courteous, quick & efficient. The cost was as quoted on the phone, reasonable, & payable by BACS transfer. I am pleased with the service I received, & recommend this company.

In the middle of Christmas festivities we suffered a serious drain blockage. Richard from ASL was on-site within one and a half hours and solved the problem quickly, efficiently and with a smile! Excellent!! very helpful, clean and tidy.
