Very professional and thorough inspection of problem. Good explanation of work needed, work carried out at agreed time and very efficiently done. Success will be proved after the next storm or downpour.

Solid Roofing Work, Mixed Experience Overall

Taylor Roofing carried out a full roof replacement at my property, and the quality of the main roof work itself appears good. The team on site were generally polite and professional, and the finished roof looks tidy. The cost was aligned with the quote. Where my experience was more difficult was in the handling of a disagreement about the scope of chimney works. An issue arose around whether certain chimney remedial works were included in the quotation. Resolving this took a significant amount of time, required extensive written correspondence, and ultimately involved referral to the NFRC complaints process before the matter was brought to a conclusion. While the substantive issue was eventually resolved, I found the complaint-handling process more stressful and protracted than I would have expected. Communication at times felt reactive rather than structured, and I would have appreciated clearer alignment between what was discussed on site, what was written in the quotation, and how concerns were handled once raised. I would also note that I had to follow up to obtain the installer’s workmanship guarantee documentation, which I would normally expect to be issued automatically alongside completion paperwork. Overall, I am satisfied with the physical outcome of the roofing work, but prospective customers may wish to ensure that all elements of scope are documented very clearly in writing upfront and be aware that resolving any disputes may require persistence.

Hi Lewis, Your review does not accurately reflect what took place. A full written quotation for the roof replacement was provided. You raised many questions before proceeding, all of which were answered in full. There was no ambiguity regarding the scope of works agreed, and the roof was completed in November 2025. The issues you later raised related to chimney works that were not included in the written quotation, not to the quality of the roof installation. The work in question was cosmetic and had no detriment to the roof installation completed. Despite this, and without any obligation to do so, the Director arranged for a team to return and complete the additional chimney works free of charge. This was done before you contacted the NFRC. Given that the works were completed in November, the additional matters resolved well before Christmas, and the complaints process concluded, it is disappointing to see negative reviews being posted some three months later, especially after the goodwill gesture of the additional works being completed free of charge. We take pride in delivering exactly what is agreed and clearly set out in writing. It remains the client’s responsibility to ensure that all requested works are included within the quotation prior to acceptance. We stand by the way the matter has been dealt with and actually went above and beyond what was required.
Poor communication and lack of understanding

We had arranged to have some broken slates on our roof replaced on the 24th October. We accepted a quote of £699.60 The roofer arrived at 8.23 and said that he would put a ladder up and measure the slates and then "nip off to get some". When he did not return by 12 noon I phoned the office. Enquiries were made and after 45 minutes I was told that they had been unable to source the slates from the usual supplier. I was told that the roofer would be back by 2pm. I pointed out that we had been waiting for over 4 hours and had no idea what was happening. We had been unable to leave the house. I was told that there was nothing in the terms and conditions that stated we had to remain in the house. I explained that the back gate was always locked for security reasons and that we had to be in to open it. I was told that I should have made that clear earlier. I said that I would feel better if I had an apology, none was forthcoming. The roofer returned at 1.40pm. He said he had been driving all over Yorkshire looking for slates. The work on the front of the roof was completed and he told me that the gutter had also been cleaned out, which I thanked him for. They then proceeded to the rear of the house. I looked out of the window at 5 past 3 and noted that they had gone without telling us. They had fixed the remaining slates. Contacting Taylor Roofing was easy. They came out promptly and the work was done on the day specified. It was spoilt by poor communication and lack of empathy.

We’re sorry you feel a 3-star review is appropriate, particularly as the work was completed in full, on the agreed date, and for the agreed price. As previously explained, sourcing the correct size slates was necessary to ensure the repair was carried out properly, and this can occasionally take time. The work was external, so there was no requirement for you to be present, although we understand some customers prefer to be. Ultimately, the issue was resolved as promised, within the agreed timeframe and cost. Given this, we feel a 3-star review does not fairly reflect the service provided.
Poor workmanship

3 seperate attempts to seal a leak in a gutter joint. It took almost 6 months in total. Finally the main boss came out in. It was left completed with what looks like black gauze holding it together. 6 months later, it's leaking again. I would not recommend using this company. Very poor workmanship and overall poor quality. I have shown three roofers, who have all laughed!

We are sorry you are not satisfied with our service on this occasion. We were instructed to clean out the front and rear guttering on your property including to re-seal one leaking gutter joint. As the guttering was over 30 years old and in poor condition you were told that this repair was only temporary. This was June 2022. Bearing in mind, we have just had the wettest Autumn on record, 30 year old poorly maintained guttering just cannot cope. I hope you managed to get the guttering replaced.
