ABS Basement Systems specialise in basement/ cellar conversions and treatment for issues such as damp or waterproofing. The company was set up by David Woodward who has over thirty years of experience as a damp surveyor. He is fully trained by the BWPDA (British Wood and Damp Proofing Association) and has carried out many waterproofing installations and remedial procedures. It is this extensive experience that gives David the unique, genuine and detailed understanding of different problems associated with basements and how best to prevent them.
It is this proficient knowledge, friendly approach and five-star service that he has built the company on. His team are on hand to provide professional advice and service 7 days a week – as well as offering a long-term insurance backed guarantee.

Astonishing Service!
I contacted ABS solutions on the morning of 7th March. We had an issue that had been making me very unwell. I spoke to David’s daughter (who was so helpful) and explained our predicament, and David was turning up at my door within twenty minutes! (It turned out he lived around the corner to me). David was just so genuine, friendly, and above all informative. It was wonderful to speak to such a helpful tradesperson. Not only that he popped around a couple of days later to assess when I contacted him! David was unable to fix the problem, as it wasn’t really his remit, however he gave us so much helpful advice… and wouldn’t take a penny for his help! Highly recommend.

David and his excellent team completed the transformation of my basement in less than two weeks. The works included a detailed site survey to assess the type of damp proofing required and the specification I required. The workmanship, standard of care and attention to detail has been outstanding from the outset. David is an expert in his field. The tanking and sump pump system are superior to anything else I considered. The end result is a beautifully crafted room which adds a new dimension to my house as well as value. Most of all, I have absolute assurance and confidence that my basement will remain dry and comfortable forever thanks to ABS. First class service from a stellar team.

David responded very quickly to my email and came round within 1 day to have a look at my damp wall, which has been causing health issues. He has had 40 years’ experience and clearly is extremely knowledgeable. He was incredibly kind, honest and generous and gave me a simple solution to the issue, which he said my trusted builder could do- not only that, he offered to speak to him and explain exactly what needed to be done. I was honestly blown away as I have had other experts come round with horrendously expensive quotations. It’s not often you come across such honesty, generosity and kindness- this despite David having had a terrible start to his day with his vans having been broken into. I would highly recommend David, I feel really lucky to have found him. Thank you so much!

I never thought building works could run as smoothly as that, particularly when it involved hacking off plaster. David came to survey the damp in the living and dining area of my cottage and explained what needed to be done, quoted promptly, not the cheapest but not the most expensive either and stuck to the timetable after that. His son Jordan and a team of two arrived on time, worked extremely efficiently and hard, made sure the disruption was kept to a minimum, tidied up before leaving in the evening, were friendly, polite and helpful when it came to move furniture and various items back. A great team. There was a small problem re-fixing an existing shell. David sent one of the team to put it right the following day. Impressive. I wish more trades people operated in such a professional manner.

David and his team came out and quoted for fitting a sump and pump in our cellar. Their quote was by far the most reasonable that we had received. We went ahead with the quote and they were able to start the work within a couple of days, the work was completed quickly and efficiently. We had a couple of small issues afterwards but as soon as I contacted David he came out and resolved everything the next day (Sunday) for us. I'd highly recommend this company

David and his team fixed some damp issues for me. This involved adding a chemical DPC and replacing the plaster around a chimney breast and bay window, and creating a French drain around the external wall of the window where the concrete/paving had been touching the brick wall and at too high a level. David came round to quote quickly and the price was very reasonable compared to the quotes I'd already got from a couple of the big national damp proofing companies (who didn't even seem interested in finding the root cause and wanted to DPC around the whole room). He was helpful and easy to deal with from start to finish. The work went ahead as scheduled and the team did a great job over the two days they were here, worked really hard and and cleaned up amazingly well afterwards. The completed work looks well-finished and of a high standard - I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to others needing to have similar work done.

It felt like the easiest job in the world to organise and to complete. Everything was explained really clearly from the outset, they turned up exactly when they said they would, did exactly what they said they would, for exactly the same amount of time they said they would then left everything completely clean and tidy. The ABS team installed a sump pump after repeated basement floods - and also came out to the property to provide accurate cost estimates , and trouble shoot as the situation evolved . We are also booked-in for the next phase of the project to have the basement fully tanked this summer 2022. Fantastic service and care from beginning to end . Lots of regular and proactive communication. High quality materials , installed to a high standard . After-service care is also terrific , as they make themselves available to you in case of trouble shooting or questions . Also very easy to do business with and plan around .
