Bates Plumbers

Unfortunately the two lads struggled with basic attention to detail on workmanship, in particular on the tiling. Took over four weeks to complete our en-suite shower room which was expected to take 8 days. Some sections of tiling had to be re-done due to basic errors in horizontal and vertical alignment, non-straight tile cuts (bad tiles apparently but still proceeded to put the bad cut tiles on the wall regardless), missing grout in places had to be pointed out. Caused a flood when fitting the sink which apparently was a fault with our pipework. Fortunately that dried out with a weekend of fan heaters running. New shower tray wasn’t adequately protected and became stained with grout; they replaced that without problem but it caused additional delay. Some real basic stuff like the toilet seat was fitted to one side rather than lined up in the middle (easy for me to fix though, but I shouldn’t really have to), and I ended up fixing the shower to make it aligned parallel to the wall after he said the shower fixing was at fault (it just needed unscrewing and pushing in and re-screwing). Yes it was a challenging small room, small tiles and contrasting grout but that’s why I wanted (and paid for) an experienced trader to do the work! Overall they did an adequate job in the end but it took a long time and took far too many interventions. Was hoping for much better as my previous experience with Which Trusted Traders has been good.

This is the 3rd time my family has used Bates and would recommend them to anybody. Richard was very helpful and easy to discuss requirements with. The bathroom was completely changed to a walk in shower and tiled from floor to ceiling, with an added vanity unit and a heated towel rail. James and Mitchell dealt with the problems that arose very professionally and checked with me that everything was done the way I wanted. I couldn’t have asked for 2 nicer young men to do the job. They were always polite, on time and did the job well.

This firm has just completed an excellent job on an existing downstairs bathroom. It was complex with a lot of knocking down of walls and heavy lifting but the work was done with good humour. A very well finished job. Survey, estimate, timing all well executed and good communications with the owner of the company Richard.

Bates Plumbers did a full bathroom refurbishment- including knocking a wall down to extend the space, moving everything to a new location, new electrics, tiling etc and I really recommend them. Very professional and competent team. We had a few minor hiccups along the way (out of their control) but they worked with me and made suggestions on how to resolve the situation. The project started and finished on time, to an excellent standard and on the agreed budget. They were even kind enough to do a few extra things for me as well. A very positive experience and highly recommended

Richard and his team were one hundred percent professional from start to finish. A difficult old suite to remove that had a large spa bath, floor joists, flooring and wall / floor tiles tiles. First class materials used in replacing joists, flooring and plastered walls with no corners cut on quality. Excellent workmanship throughout, extremely tidy and efficient in every aspect of the removal/install. Fitted a shower, enclosed bath, double sink unit, toilet and radiators to a very high standard. Tiled all walls, bath enclosure and floor again all to a high standard. Nothing was too much trouble and all our requests were met. Work was started earlier than expected, which we welcomed, and run to schedule, the original quote was the invoiced amount, True professionalism throughout and really nice guys.

We had Bates plumbers to fit our new Bathroom, Dom and Lucas were the fitters, they were polite and arrived on time every day, left clean and tidy, the work was 1st class, I will recommend them to all my family and friends.

I found Bates plumbers by doing research on many levels they always came up the best, and they are, l am so glad l waited for them because they are mostly always busy. Richard came to look at what needed doing then he emailed me with a quote l had a think and decided to go for it then Richard brought me samples of what l asked for and we together looked at all the options and tailored to my needs, he then sent me an optional date which l agreed to (although l was in a hurry) Richard said he would try to do it sooner a week or so later he gave me another date which l was over the moon with it meant l was having my job done sooner, date given price agreed off we go the price stayed the same no hidden extras we also agreed the deposit to be paid three weeks before the job. The day finally arrived the team were amazing easy to talk to and really approachable they were very tidy cleaning up each and every day they worked they were excellent at they’re job neat and precise and very informative and talked me through what they were doing next the work carried out is impeccable to the highest standard the quality of the bathroom equipment is spot on and every thing work’s perfectly l am over the moon. Richard kept popping in to make sure all was well, although there was no need the lads knew they’re stuff they have been very well trained, and the plus side was Ryan and Lucas were hard working clean and tidy and made me laugh would definitely recommend them to anyone perfect really and truly.

I decided to hire Bates Plumbers after reading other reviews. Richard was really helpful & talked me through everything I’d need. Ryan & James were assigned to the job; they were prompt, very hard working, professional and did an absolutely fantastic, high quality job. I had a complete refit, taking everything right back to brick & starting from scratch, but nothing was too much trouble for them. They are lovely lads & were a pleasure to deal with. Would highly recommend.

Richard came and gave a price for the bathroom and toilet area to be completely refurbished. Ryan and James arrived on the agreed date and started the refurbishment. They were very professional in everything they did from start to finish always cleaning up at the end of the day and keeping me up to date as to what they had done and what was still to do. They worked from 8:15am to 5pm every day taking one hour for lunch. The work was completed on time. Would recommend Bates Plumbers to anybody with complete confidence.

I contacted Richard (he has done work for me before to a very high standard and great timescales). I had ordered a dishwasher from a national company and paid for installation (they totally messed it up) so I spoke to Richard and he arranged the installation. In future I will contact him for any plumbing work I need. Fantastic.

An efficient and professional job from start to finish. I was kept appraised of every thing, good or not so good all the way along. The work force were pleasant and reliable, and have produced an excellent shower room. They were extremely tidy, and everything was taken away at the end of the job. Literally over the moon with my new bathroom and can’t stop trotting upstairs to look at it! I’d trawled through lots of reviews for bathroom fitters and so glad I chose Bates. Richard came with Dom to initially size up and quote. They listened to exactly what I wanted and have delivered to an absolute tee. Dom completed the work with the help of Lucas. Their hard work and perfection is very much appreciated. It’s glaringly apparent that they take great care and pride and enjoy the work they do. Such clean workers- everything tidied up and away every day. My bathroom was completed well on time, no hidden costs and to an exceptional standard. Richard & team were recommended by our Son following their completion of a new bathroom & en-suite. He is in our experience a rarity amongst skilled tradesmen & contractors, insofar as he says what he will do & when, then does exactly that. Dom did the work for us, fitting the main bathroom & 2 en-suites. Richard was visible throughout the contract. Even though the work went superbly well, this was reassuring. A few months before the work was due to begin Richard gave us a likely start date. Just less than a month before the planned start date, he explained that a current job could run over, so there could be a week’s slippage. He was true to his word. He texted me a few days before starting to confirm the work would begin. He & Dom were most obliging & top communicators. They either asked or told us about any slight variances to the planned work as they occurred. The work was completed to the highest standard over 6 weeks of full days’ work, making no compromises for the significant travel time on each morning & evening. We are delighted with our 2 en-suites and the “pièce de resistance”, our main bathroom. Richard and his employees share the attributes of honesty, integrity, total trustworthiness and person-ability. You may glean from the earlier comments that I am highly impressed with Bates Plumbers. I seldom give 100% ratings, on the principle that there is always some improvement to be made. Unhesitatingly full marks to Bates Plumbers.

Our bathroom has been completely transformed into a bright modern bathroom to be proud of. Ryan and Lucas worked very hard and professionally. They were friendly and punctual and cleaned up well every day before going home. Richard came to check progress and was friendly and professional. The work done is spot on and looks great. They did the ceiling, floor, tiling and everything in between. All of the rubbish has been collected and removed as arranged on the last day. Robert who did the electrics was great too. Was introduced to Richard when he came to fit our B and Q Bathroom in 2015. As he did an excellent job of that it was a no brainer when it came to looking for someone to fit our new downstairs toilet this year. As always, Richard and his team carried out a thoroughly professional job and I would recommend Bates Plumbers to anyone. They turned an old understairs pantry into a luxury downstairs toilet.

This is the second bathroom we have had done by Bates Plumbers. This was just as excellent as the first. Really neat job. Polite and courteous. Highly recommend.

New bathroom fitted. All completion times as advised beforehand, and if slight amendments needed, then Richard was prepared to do things properly and not cut corners. Had to also use plasterer and electrician, and these came on time, so logistically this worked out perfectly. First class work from the fitter, Ryan, and very satisfied with both the quality of the work and the price. No hesitation in recommending them.

Richard and team installed a new bathroom suite from a new ceiling to a new floor, the work was completed to a very high standard and the team maintained a tidy work place at the end of each day. The lads who completed the job were courteous and happy to chat through there progress and what they had panned for each day. The new bathroom is a complete transformation and I cannot find fault in any of the work they completed. I would not hesitate to recommend Richard and his team.

I have had a couple of jobs done by Bates Plumbers recently. They have fixed my toilet and also dealt with a leak in my kitchen. On both occasions they have done a great job at a good price. They are very reliable and I would highly recommend.
