Better Heating and Lighting Ltd is a family run firm, recognised throughout Ealing by the 'Don't D.I.Y.' logo. We offer a friendly, reliable, efficient and honest service and have 40 years of experience in domestic, commercial and industrial electrical installations.
Our in-depth knowledge and enthusiasm for all things electrical ensures that any work we carry out conforms to safety regulations laid down by the Institute of Engineering and Technology (the IET) Requirements for Electrical Installations in Building BS7671 (2022).
Our electricians can also offer useful advice on your electrical wiring needs during the initial planning stages of any building and refurbishment projects. This could prevent making expensive mistakes and unnecessary disruption to put them right. Utility Room and WC Lights - Resolving a Flickering and Circuit Tripping Issue

Michael, the proprietor of Better Heating and Lighting Ltd was recommended via my cousin for an issue we'd lived with for years. From the get go our dialogue was open, honest and friendly; one could say that through our initial interaction we qualified each other as to whether we were a good fit for the endeavour ahead. Working with his youngest son, apprenticing under his father, what struck us mostly is Michael's passion for his profession; a professional who enjoys explains the whys and wherefores of everything that he is doing for his client, a knowledgeable polite engaging cordial communicative specialist - what a pleasure, what an oasis in a desert of skilled trader mediocrity! Summary of Works: Recessed lighting removed from the ceiling and inspected. Cause of the flickering lights - burning of the wires due very poor connections at each fitting! This required a rewire as the cables were too short to ensure proper connections in insulated enclosures. All lamp holders were replaced and new energy efficient LED lamps installed. The dangling cables feeding the light switch were rewired and hidden behind our wood panelling and the switch installed in a better location. Our security lights which had been connected directly behind a ring main socket - very dangerous, was rewired and a 5amp fused double pole switch spur unit for both security lights installed. Due a loose earth connection one of the dual socket outlet in the utility room was also replaced. Time: 1 day.

My tenants called me on a Sunday evening to report a problem with the smoke alarms at the property. They kept going off intermittently for no apparent reason, causing a lot of noise! I called Mike to explain the issue, and within 30mins, he was at the property. He investigated the issue and managed to stop the problem. I would definitely recommend his services.

Mr Gilbert came to install a new oven for me. He identified that the property was not properly earthed, gave me a clear explanation of the issue, and explained how best to resolve it. He subsequently returned to earth the fuse box and install the new cooker. He ensured safety standards were met, whilst also being sensitive to the layout of the kitchen and limiting damage to decoration. The final invoice matched his initial estimate. In summary, I found Mr Gilbert to be prompt, efficient, and kind. I would certainly be happy to use his services again.

Mike of Better Heating and Lighting has taken care of our electrics for probably more than 15 years, so that probably speaks for itself in terms of our faith in the thoroughness and safety of their work. Most recently they have provided electric sockets etc for a new fitted bedroom. As usual, the work was completed when we needed it and to a high standard.

We recently used Michael to sort a few small electrical jobs at our flat which were all completed to a very high standard. He took the time to listen and talk us through different options and then provided us with a very thorough breakdown of costs which he kept to. Communication was great, schedules were all stuck to and mostly importantly all the work was completed very professionally. I have employed Better Heating and Lighting for numerous electrical projects on my home over the past 10 years or so - from installing new lighting indoors and outdoors, to conducting Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICR), to fitting bathroom extractor fans, and much more. They are 100% reliable in my experience - and on the rare occasion something hasn't been quite right, they have been quick to resolve the issue . Their work is consistently of the highest quality. What's more they are always friendly and nothing is ever too much trouble. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

Have had Michael Gilbert and his sons round to sort out various electrical installations and to carry out checks. The service has always been prompt and they take great care in their work and also clean up aterwards! Very polite and conscientious. Would definitely recommend them.
