The engineer arrived on time at 8-30 and placed protective mats in the work area, preparation to remove the existing old boiler. The engineer made adaptions to the existing services in preparation to connect the new boiler, and the whole process was carried out in accordance with the quotation. On completion the relevant instruction manuals were provided, and the site was left clean.

Charles Bickham provided a friendly and reliable service. The Veissmann boiler system is really efficient and I like the fact that I can control everything from an app on my phone. Charlie installed our boiler a few years ago with his cheerfullness and attention to detail and overcame some problems with previous plumbing work, nothing is to much trouble or diffiicult, he tackles every problem with cheerfullness and proffessionally. Fabulous new boiler
Charles came to give a quote, which I was more than satisfied with…. My old boiler gave up the ghost after over 20yrs…..! An assessment was done, including boiler , adjustments to the flue new pipe work under the sink…. Amazing service, cleaning up as going along, took most of the day, but so happy to have water and heat, never more appreciated I can tell you…..! Thank you….. Liz C

I met Charles at the flats to review the boiler's condition and it was agreed they were on their last leg - over 15 years old so he provided a very competitive quotation for the replacement of the 2 old boilers with Viessman Vitodens condensing hydrogen ready boilers. Only 2 weeks later Charles colleague Jack arrived and he completed the work over 2 days which was excellent. The tenants were not inconvenienced in any way. All the compliance documentation was supplied within 24 hours. A 5 star service. Thank you

We needed a very old cast iron Rayburn (providing range cooking, hot water and central heating) removed and replaced with a new boiler as part of a kitchen renovation. It became clear during the renovations that we would need a new hot water cylinder and that complication was dealt with smoothly. Installation was carried out within the agreed time and to a high standard, communication was good and Charlie checked with us that everything was satisfactory before submitting his bill. I would feel completely confident in asking Charlie and Jack to take on any heating and plumbing work on our property.

I am extremely satisfied with the work carried out by Charles and Jack to replace our dated boiler with a new viessmann model. This included relocating to the other side of a solid brick wall. Communication prior to the job was excellent and was able to be conducted remotely over phone and via messaging. Both Charles and Jack were professional and conscientious throughout the work on the day. They made sure to explain everything and answer any questions I had. Very tidy work and the new boiler seems like a vast improvement already. Highly recommend.

Jack the engineer who carried out the installation of our new boiler, was incredibily efficient, polite and friendly. Jack updated us throughout the day on what he was doing and how the installation was coming along. Charles Bickham provided an excellent service throughout and was able to advise on the most suitable replacement combi boiler for our needs. Charlie visited to survey the site, and his engineer fitted the boiler the following week. The work was to a high standard and completed with minimum disturbance. The engineer was polite and informative and ensured the app-based controls were set up and clearly explained. The work comprised the replacement of an existing boiler and some old radiator valves. We were very happy with all aspects of the process from the initial contact and estimate to the completion of the work. We liked Charles's attention to detail and honesty from the start. He took the time to explain all the options we had regarding boilers / sensors / thermostats and answered all our questions before suggesting the equipment that would best suit our needs. We have to say a big thank you to Jack who carried out the work; his hard work and skill mean that the installation is immaculate. The old pipes and tanks were removed cleanly and dust and disruption were kept to a minimum. The new pipework, both internal and external, is very neat, and you would struggle to spot where the old flue once left the house. Overall, we could not be happier with the result, and would highly recommend Charles Bickham Plumbing and Heating.

Charles was very professional and polite throughout the installation of a Viessmann Vitodens 050-W gas combi boiler and completed the agreed work to my full satisfaction. The job was not straightforward as: (1) I wanted to move the boiler; (2) the gas flue is relatively inaccessible, being on a sloping roof in a busy block of flats; (3) access to the flue in the loft was not straightforward. Despite this, I was impressed how efficiently Charles assessed the potential issues when asked to quote, and this gave me confidence that the work would be completed without a hitch. The job straddled two days and went smoothly as Jack and Charles navigated their way through all of the required steps. A cherry picker was hired for the second day to access the roof and he also appeared to work well with Charles. Very pleased with the final result. Based on my experience, I can definitely recommend Charles Bickham Plumbing & Heating for potentially problematic installations of a gas combi boiler. Would use again.

A big job-but carried out with care and skill

We have plans to change our kitchen and so, wanted to not only replace the existing boiler, but move it to the garage and remove 9 unwanted pipe drops in the kitchen. So this wasn't a straight forward swap and entailed new pipe runs to upstairs and downstairs. Guided by Charlie, we now have a new boiler, all pipework concealed and additional space in the kitchen-just what we wanted. From quote to completion everything was very professional. We were without hot water/heating for one night, but with a major change like this it was what we expected. Jack worked hard for the 4 days he was here, the quality of workmanship was excellent and couldn't be faulted. Clean and tidy, would recommend them to anyone.

I live abroad and have tenants in our property and it can be difficult to manage problems with the property when they arise from abroad. This business was recommended to me by a friend. Jack fitted a new Viessman boiler on 20/10/20 with a power flush and all neatly completed in a day with no problems then or since. Annual service carried out yesterday by Jack and I was even able to return his favourite screwdriver that had previously fallen in a fairly inaccessible void behind the tank! Clean, efficient and professional service at reasonable prices. Good to chat with Jack on common interests as well. I have recommended the business to two friends recently.

I contracted Charles Bickham Plumbing & Heating to remove an old boiler from the kitchen of the house I recently moved into, which didn't work, and to install a new combi condensing boiler in the downstairs loo. This involved removing the old boiler and immersion heater, pipes, wiring and the flue, before fitting the new boiler. The existing radiators and pipes were all flushed through and descaled and the tanks in the loft were drained. Jack worked tirelessly by himself on the first day and was joined by Fred on day two. I was surprised at how many skills they had, including plumbing, wiring, pipe work, installing electric sockets, gas fitting, carpentry, and cleaning up after themselves as they went along. They consulted with me about where I wanted things to go, patiently answered all my questions, and even made a special trip to the builder's yard to try and find a particular brick to replace the hole left after removing the old external flue. Charles, the company owner, arrived in the early evening to check the installation, and tried to explain the app which controls the boiler system to me, which is a work in progress. However, he is able to log on to the app and keep an eye on how the system is operating, which is reassuring. He has also answered my post-installation queries promptly. Charles is a very enthusiastic champion of Viessman boilers. I was very impressed by how efficient the whole installation and was and would not hesitate to recommend this company.

I'd have no hesitation in recommending these guys. Charlie is very professional and inspires a lot of confidence in me. His young guys Jack and Fred spent 2 days with us installing a new boiler, led by Jack. Jack was polite, helpful, intelligent, very hard working and was very receptive to working around 3 of us working from home on Zoom with one attending an interview online. The work was neat and tidy, all mess cleared up. Fred was new to the firm and was fast and effective. When we had a small hitch understanding which rads needed thermostatic valves, Fred changed one without hesitation. Overall I am delighted to have chosen Charlie's firm. Well done chaps from a very happy customer. I just need to pay now.....

Leak under the floorboards

Oh gosh, all of a sudden water appears on ceiling above the lounge/hall. I contacted Charles who rescheduled his work despite being short handed and came to investigate straight away. He found and repaired a pinhole leak caused by poor workmanship when the house was built 55 years previous. Thanks Charles, even a pinhole leak can cause lots of damage if not sorted quickly.

Charles arrived very promptly when the pipe under our utility sink burst. I wasn't able to turn the stopcock off and so we had to catch the water until he came to rescue us. He speedily turned off the water and replaced the pipes, all with a calm, friendly presence!

I contacted both Viessmann and Valliant boiler manufacturers for their local recommended installers. The Vaillant installer supplied a quote quite quickly, Charles Bickham was a little slower. I also had a local plumber come to give a quote and he wanted to install boiler for cash which of course suggests that he would not declare it for VAT ect and of course no extended warranty, he was about £600 more expensive to. I chose Charles as he was competitive compared to the Valliant guy and was the installer of my preferred boiler Viessmann. One of his guys Jack arrived on the agreed date and time and started work straight away after I gave him a walk through of our house. He wore a mask at all times, was very polite, tidy and hard worker. His standard of work was high, he was very knowledgeable and efficient. I had new system boiler fitted ( my old boiler was vented) along with a new motorised valve, tank thermostat (at my request) and he removed pump and heating header tank in loft, as well as a power flush. I would highly recommend Charles Bickham especially if it's Jack who carries out the work. Invoiced as per original quote. :)

Having had a horrific experience with a boiler installation by a different supplier at our previous home, I have to say we were delighted (and relieved!) that Charles was so quick and professional. It is never fun being without heat in winter but Charles and James were brilliant and the Viessmann boiler is very effective.

Helped out over the phone - could have easily ripped me off by sending someone out but chatted a basic issue through over the phone to help on a cold night! Definitely recommend and will always use going forward. Highly recommended.
