They came, they quoted, they did the job, they left. Couldn't fault them, kept me informed all the time, turned up when they said they would and finished the botch jobs that the previous owner had left. Would recommend.

Bar Preservation carried out a survey on a basement. They itemised the works well and gave options that could be carried out. The works were completed in a timely manner and kept me informed of any variations or issues that they came across during the works.

We were so pleased with Paul Dave and Gaz with how they completed the work.Hardly any mess considering it was dampproof in 2 rooms. They cleaned everything after them. Even to the point of getting on their hands and knees cleaning the tiles on the kitchen floor. The only thing you can tell we have had a damp course is there is no wallpaper on. Will recommend these guys to anyone

I used this company to install a new Damp proof course and wall ties. They turned up as scheduled and carried out the work to a high standard . They kept the disruption to a minimum and were very clean for such a messy job. The lads who carried out the work, Leon, Wayne and Reece, explained the process to us and we’re very efficient in their work . All work was completed on time . I would definitely recommend this company for their high standards of workmanship which all come with a guarantee. And I will definitely be getting more work done from Bar Preservation.

The experience with BAR Preservation has been seamless from start to finish. Each aspect of the job from survey to completion happened on time and with the minimum of fuss. The workmen were friendly, tidy and trustworthy and explained everything they had done upon completion. The house was left beautifully clean and tidy.

Work not carried out.
"My son had two areas damp proofing work done on his house, a number off years ago. He is now selling and the survey found issues why the work had been done. My son asked them to check under guarantee which they asked for £100 deposit which would be refunded if an issue was found. I thought was a bit high. I was there when John Longdin from this company came. He took some damp measurements which showed a high reading in some off the areas they had done. He blamed on salts in the plaster because my son had not had the wall re plastered. The area under the stairs had no plaster and was also showing damp readings. He did not actually inspect the work. The deposit was not refunded! I asked a local experienced plasterer to redo the plaster where the damp course had been done. On removing the old plaster he found no holes in the mortar in which J Longdin had said the work would have been done. He felt that no work had been carried out there and that was possibly why there were still issues. I informed Bar preservation, and they denied this but did offer to redo the work. I thought it would not be unreasonable for their operative to re-examine the work and if agreed that it had not been done they should give my son his deposit back. They flatly refused to give any monies back and also flatly refused to let the tradesman comment on their previous work to the point of it being a condition of them redoing the work that I did not ask their tradesman to make any comment. Very disappointed.

The trader replied (on 12/06/2020)
We are sorry to hear you were disappointed with the service your son received. Thankfully, I recall the works in question, albeit this was completed 2 years ago or so. I will try to explain in more detail the circumstances. Firstly, it is an industry standard to charge a reinspection of works fee, this covers the surveyors time in the event the alleged fault is not due to failure of our works (our fee is one of, if not the lowest amongst our competitors). With this particular job, your son opted to only have part of the works recommended undertaken to save on cost and did not carry out re-plastering. This very often leaves hygroscopic salts within the plaster despite chemical DPC injection relieving the wall of rising dampness issues. When our surveyor returned to the property this was, unsurprisingly to us, found to be the case. Your son then decided to replaster the walls, as we first recommended. Your son’s plasterer could not see our drill holes which led to a complaint. As a courtesy and to avoid conflict, we reattended the property and carried out the works for a second time FOC. Our men actually found the original holes whilst on site helping us to show your son the works had infact already been undertaken, these holes had simply been obscured with dust from the plaster removal or perhaps sweeping up after the original drilling. The matter was resolved, we even returned the reinspection fee as a goodwill gesture.
Renewed floor joists

I have used Bar Preservation several times. This job involved renewing rotten floor joists and treating the total area. From the initial examination and quote to the completion of the job, they explained what the problem was, the extent, the work required and kept me informed throughout. The work was done to schedule and all was made neat and tidy. The floor is now solid and I can move on with other repairs.

I choose this company on the basis of reading previous reviews and the range of specialist work they carry out. So thought I would leave a review of my own experience. Everyone I came into contact with was a credit to the company, from John the surveyor who explained everything and promptly answered follow up emails to May and Reece who were the lead contractors on site for a week's work replacing floor joists and timbers following wet rot, injection of dpc and replastering. Nothing phased them. They were pleasant, thorough, efficient and cleaned up each day. From our point of view things went as smoothly as possible considering the scale of the work. I would highly recommend this company.
