I had an engineer from the company in question to look at our boiler on December 3rd 2015. I had paid for them to locate a fault in my boiler. At this visit they quoted me to fit and supply an expansion vessel. The engineer claims the boiler needs a new expansion vessel and quoted fit and supply @ £370 + VAT. In my view this price is unacceptable, based on the fact that original parts can be purchased for under £40 (including 24h delivery service). Another quote from a different installer to fit is £100 including VAT. Indeed, today it was diagnosed that the expansion vessel was faulty, and a new one fitted for £100 incl. VAT. Job done in 15 min.

The engineer pinpointed the intermittent fault with the boiler and fitted new parts. Only problem - the parts were rather expensive! quite happy with the engineer.

Paid £103 (85 plus vat) for bleeding 3 radiators and 10 mins of work. Exorbitant and unexpected. Wasn't informed of exact call out fee on the phone. Apparently they come out and quote for bigger work for free which we also asked for. I guess plumbing is big business but I feel slightly ripped off

Dear Radhika thank you for your review but at no point have you contacted our company with any form of discontent with our service which would have helped us. You called to inform us that your heating system was not fully functioning and some radiators were not working and our very experienced engineer Simon called to find lots of air in your heating system where upon he re pressurised the system via the filling loop and vented all the air from the radiators and the system leaving you with a fully functioning heating system . It would be impossible to carry out this work in the time you have stated and we find £85 +vat + £1.00 for credit card use = £103.00 a very fair charge to attend immediately to your call and leave you with a fully functioning heating system with no air locks . We advise every customer of our charges prior to any visits We hope this clarifies Radhika review. Kind regards EHP

I would echo comments by Radhika (21 Nov last year) that the company overcharge for small jobs. My elderly mother was charged over £100 for just ten minutes' work to fix a lavatory cistern leak. The guy who came out was very pleasant, and he seems to have fixed the problem (time will tell) but it does seem a lot of money for a very short visit. Ann C

Dear Ann thank you for your review on our Trusted Trader website we were contacted by yourself on 6th January 2017 and you asked us to attend your mothers property and investigate a leak from the toilet area . We then diagnosed that the bottom entry ball valve on the cistern of the wc was in need of replacement , at that point as per agreement we contacted yourself to advise what needed to be done and what it would .cost before carrying out any works , which was £85 +vat = £`102 fully inclusive of labour and materials , which you told us to go ahead with - the bottom entry ball valve cost £17 .00 . We as a company find the cost for the works very reasonable by comparison to other companies who attend emergency leaks and would have been grateful had you contacted us directly with any concerns that you had prior to posting a negative review. Kind regards EHP

After having issues with a blocked pipe connected to our bathroom sink we called Elmbridge Heating & Plumbing as they were a local business situated very close to our property. We had to book in advance and the work was conducted during working hours during the week. Initially they attempted to vacuum the pipes to clear the debris which didn't do the trick. The plumbers ended up having to remove a tile (which we have had to replace) to access the problem area and replace around 60cm of piping. The total time taken to perform the work (2 people) was around 60 minutes however time was added onto this by them having to go and purchase a the replacement piping which took around 25 minutes. The quality of the work itself was acceptable and the problem was solved. We were never quoted on what it would cost before the work was done and the total cost came to £270 (incl VAT). This was a straight forward 1 man job. Even though the quality was acceptable knowing how much they charge will force us to look elsewhere as we were very surprised by the bill we received. Be sure to obtain a price and I would recommend using a contractor who is happy to provide a no obligation free quote so that all costs are transparent upfront.

We have used this company for about 9 years since moving to Surrey and they’ve generally been okay for boiler services and minor repairs. However we wish we had researched more thoroughly and taken heed of the bad reviews when we needed the boiler replacing, as they have not been good when things went wrong a few months later. We had never dealt with the owner previously and unlike his staff he is rude and argumentative. And when we had a visit from Worcester Bosch the engineer left us with a statement the the boiler was not fitted to current standards. Our quotation for the new boiler also included an eight year warranty but they have only given us seven and are now ignoring our emails. We will use a different company in future.

Elmbridge Heating and Plumbing as a company appreciate your business over the last 9 to 10 years. Whereupon we have replaced 2 boilers and carried out various plumbing and heating works for you, professionally and efficiently. But are disappointed that you have chosen to post the above review which is full of unfounded untruths. At no point has any member of staff at EHP been rude to yourselves. The facts are your husband carried out DIY electrical repairs on your consumer unit/fuse board which altered the polarity on the ring mains in your property which serves the heating circuit, causing the boiler to fail, which we installed in September last year. We despatched a heating engineer at no cost to yourselves who then explained a domestic NIC registered electrician would be required for resolution and solution, which would have been chargeable as it was of no fault of the installation carried out by EHP. And the manufacturer Worcester Bosch confirmed this to ourselves. We offered to despatch our electrical contractors OMNI electrical services, but they would charge for the rectification works, which you were not prepared to pay for initially, and tried to blame EHP for the DIY electrical work, which we did not even carry out. We have offered to install a Worcester Bosch magnetic filter free of charge to extend your warranty to 10 years, which you have declined. At no point have EHP carried out any incorrect works at your property, which you falsely claimed.

Used company to repair loo. The first time we tried using the loo, it would not flush. After calling their office the plumber returned and stated that the syphon was poorly functioning and needed replacing. However he had not recommended this at the time of his first visit. He stated that this would be considered a new job with a new call-out fee of £185+ vat. We queried the new call-out fee with the office who confirmed that the syphon required replacement and would be considered a new job with a new callout fee. We felt this unreasonable, as if it was faulty it should have been replaced at the same time as the inlet valve. Having lost confidence in Elmbridge Heating and Plumbing, I called another trader the same day to resolve the issue. They stated: The reason the cistern would not flush was because the water level was too low. This was because the replacement extendable inlet pipe had not been extended to the required height such that the cistern filled to the correct level. They also stated that there is nothing wrong with the existing syphon and it does not require replacement. They also advised that the existing Fluidmaster inlet valve could have been used and would have been preferable. Appalling service. Elmbridge Heating did refund amount we were charged by the other trader, but we still paid £222 to Elmbridge Heating and Plumbing for incomplete plumbing and if we had heeded their advice we would have paid them a further £222 for unnecessary work.

I was recommended this company so I had high hopes but was completely disappointed. Although the lady was very nice, the gentleman just tried to take advantage because I have no knowledge on boilers and to top it off left me with a puddle from the rad a few weeks later because the bolt hadn’t been tightened properly. When I contacted the company the lady who answered the phone was very helpful however her boss who I could hear in the background was very rude and said there was nothing he could do apart from sending the original man back!

Dear Madame We feel it is extremely unfortunate that you feel it necessary to post untruths and be not factual on our Which Trusted Trader profile . We can categorically state that at no point has any of our staff at Elmbridge Heating and Plumbing taken advantage of you or have been rude .You claimed we left a leak on your radiator on the 1st March 2019 when we were there only to service your gas appliance ie your boiler. We offered to attend yesterday within an hour of your phone call to ascertain the leak on a radiator, which you declined. After speaking to Matt and Abbey our engineers regarding the matter, Matt who has worked for us for us5 years plus and has never received a complaint as yet, and was upset and disappointed . Your post is inaccurate and comes as a surprise as we were recommended to you by one of our regular customers . Kind regards Elmbridge Heating and Plumbing

Had a leak coming through the ceiling, called Elmbridge Plumbing and Heating because they are local! Asked if they could look at the leak, fix and make it safe. A plumber visited the property but didn’t know were the leak was coming from. I was charged £81.00. I’m still chasing them for an invoice and diagnostics! I had to call another plumbing company to fix the leak in the end at another cost of £80.00. I wouldn’t recommend this company, I don’t think they know what they’re doing.

Dear Vicky, Thank you for your posting on our Which Trusted Trader profile unfortunately it is way off the mark accuracy wise. The events were as follows; you contacted ourselves via a recommendation and asked ourselves to attend a leak through into your rented property from the upstairs property. We attended between 9-11am as per agreement and spent nearly an hour looking for any source of leak coming into your property which was not apparent. We then needed to access the communal loft area to identify the leak but the loft hatch was padlocked and the only people with access were the management company of the block. We then informed you of our findings and asked once accessed has been granted via the management company we would attend immediately to trace and find the leak. We never heard anymore from yourself barring that you had not received an invoice for the £68+VAT. We then took your email as you was not present and emailed you an invoice and a copy of our findings. Kind Regards, Elmbridge Heating and Plumbing.

This company has some excellent reviews on Which? however we would warn people to check their quote carefully. It turned out that our quote was ambiguous and our interpretation and Elmbridge’s were very different. Unfortunately, one of the owners, who had undertaken the quote, was on holiday at the time of installation. The engineer on site did not hold back in his irritation at the fact we were querying it. By the time that we realised they were not doing what we had asked for, the work was too far gone, so we had no option but to proceed. We had asked for a new central heating system, save for the boiler and tank. What we got was our radiators replaced at a extortionate price. More importantly the heating system now doesn't work properly. To be fair to Elmbridge they did come out a number of times to investigate, and the owner, Steve, talks a very good game. However many more times we were cancelled at short notice (often on the day they were due), or they just didn't turn up at all, and it was always a different engineer which meant explaining the issues over and over again. After 7 months Elmbridge no longer respond to my emails or messages, so we are now having to spend money with another heating company to put right the issues they have left us with.

Thank for your comments we appreciate your input but unfortunately we have to disagree with the events that you have posted our original remit was to replace all radiators throughout and turn your heating system into a 2 pipe system as opposed to a 1 pipe system yourself explaining that your previous heating engineers who installed your boiler and heating controls had failed to do so. The lack of even circulation was due to certain pipework runs below floor level we carried out extra works ie sealing your heating system installing faulty bypasses all free of charge. We apologise to yourself for having to reschedule work on certain days due to holidays and company sickness hence extra work not charged for as a way of compensating yourself . All work that we carried out was fully quoted in written form in advance and feel disappointed that you chose to use us and then use the term extortionate which is not true. Sorry once again for not giving you the result you wanted . Kind regards EHP

We had somewhat an emergency and the plumber quoted us a price 2.5 times higher than what we felt it was worth. Well, we had to accept as he was already there. He left having done more damage than good. So far came back twice and guess what? The leak is still going.

I have just been charged £500 for Elmbridge Heating & Plumbing to replace my hot water pump. The pump costs £100 in Screwfix and the plumber was here 1 1/2 hours. They did come and spent, say, an hour here the day before. That makes their going rate over £100 hour for the work of a plumber. I found their attitude arrogant especially as the worker would not leave the premises until we had paid by card over the phone. I feel that was intimidating on their part. We wouldn't have used them except that the usual plumbers we use were not available as it was half term. Avoid at all costs.

Dear Mr Taylor Thank you for you inaccurate review which is misleading and untrue . You contacted EHP on 28th October mid afternoon as to no heating or hot water , our engineer Ian who was working locally attended within 2 hours of your call to diagnose that your Grundfos UPS 2 had siezed and was need of replacement the pump valves had also perished and needed replacing. To carry out these works the system had to be drained. We made arrangements to return the following morning at 8.00am for which we quoted £352 +VAT which totals £422.40 NOT £500 as incorrectly stated by yourself .At no point were you obliged to accept our quotation and at no point did you query our costs from the intial call out to the works being carried out. On completion of the works you said that you wanted to wait a week before paying to make sure that all was working where upon Ian explained that all had been tested and our terms are payment on completion. You then mentioned that you had a regular plumber who would have done it for £100 cheaper but was not available for 2/3 weeks ! Ian Rogers has worked for this Company for 10 years and is of a calm gentle nature and never been accused of intimidating anyone and upset by your false claims. We would ask you to remove this false review immediately as we carried all works professionally and to high standard as per quotation . Kind regards EHP
Washing machine repair

We called out this company because of clanking in the machine and the spinner did not function. After draining the machine the filter was removed to yield a small circular object. A brief run appeared to show that the problem was solved. However, within days the clanking had returned and the spinning stopped and the water did not drain. We phoned EHP who said they were busy fixing a boiler which understandably had priority. On contacting them today (29/4/20) they said they had done the job and they in any case did not repair washing machines (So why did they come?). I am very dissatisfied at this. (And I don't like the phone being put down on me), or the offer to get me in touch with someone who could repair the machine.
