Foreman Electrical

Living 'overseas' as they like to say, and renting out my house in Hertfordshire long term, it is no easy task finding good tradespeople. In 2017 I found Ian Foreman on Which Local and gave him the job of replacing the smoke and fire alarms. Since then Ian has replaced the kitchen downlights with LED, done two EICR certifications, replaced the fuseboard to the latest safety standard, installed other odds and ends as required over the years and even fixed the door handle on a kitchen cupboard. Ian quickly established himself as my number one trusted go-to guy (another horrible modern expression but there you are, that's progress). My tenant loves him; anything she needs, he jumps on it immediately, once even on Christmas Eve! He is a great guy, a top quality professional and I just hope he enjoys doing jobs for me as much as I enjoy having him at the end of a telephone. As to the boring stuff: his work is top quality (also confirmed by my tenant and my letting agent, in case you're wondering) and his prices very fair; he is efficient, clean and tidy, prompt, a top communicator, etc. etc., you know the spiel. Bottom line: I can't recommend Ian highly enough. Long may he blow your fuses...

I contacted Ian on the recommendation from a friend, who has used Ian's services a number of times. He replaced my old circuit board and earth bonded both gas and water supplies into my property. He was prompt, friendly and informative, inspiring confidence in his work and obvious expertise. We felt totally at ease with him in the house, clearly a boon for anybody, either nervous or vulnerable. Work and service are undoubtedly top drawer, supported by the paperwork and adherence to the regulations. When I first contacted him, he was unable to answer my call, so he immediately returned the call so I did not need to call again. He came quickly to look at the job and followed with a quote 24 hours later and undertook the work without undue delay. Went to great pains to clear up afterwards, and stated clearly that if there were any issues, he should be available 24/7.

Ian was very communicative and interested whilst locating the fault in the bathroom lighting. He improved my understanding by updating me regarding the technical changes over time with bulbs. He helpfully tested a separate double socket which was old but didn't require replacement currently. He explained about the process for Which? Trusted Traders including training and qualifications. He also clarified that he was qualified to complete earthed gas and water bonding which I had been told was now necessary. He also recommended updating the old electrical switching board. I have no hesitation in recommending him and look forward to seeing him again to complete the next planned works

Like many houses in our area, we had a rodent issue, chewing the electrical wires of our bathroom lights. I asked quotes from 3 local electricians and selected Ian because he was friendly, helpful, took the time to explain various choices and provided fair estimates. Had to contact Ian about an old damaged cable running from the fuse box in a property I’d just moved into. He arrived on time and removed and replaced the damaged part of the cable and installed a junction box to join up the new cable. As always Ian was friendly, professional and able to answer any questions about all things electrical.

I was recommended to use Ian as a qualified electrician from an estate agent. Ian not only was able to sort out all issues with the electrics onsite but also provided valuable insights on other electrical works carried out by other parties. This allowed me to follow up and rectify the unsafe practises caused by said parties. Ian provided an EICR electrical certificate and Aico Alarm Status Report required for rental properties allowing me to adhere to rental standards. I would highly recommend Ian's expertise and quality of work.

Ian was professional and proficient throughout, testing wiring and installing a new circuit board, wiring and plugs. He was friendly and very helpful. His charges were fair and I’d definitely use his services again. Highly recommended.

Contacted Ian in the morning on the basis of his good reviews on Which - wasn't disappointed. He was able to come out to my Mother-in-law's house same day and identified the problem quickly as a burnt out socket. He replaced the old one and made a point of showing me the damage. Very pleased with the speed and quality of service - will use Ian again in the future.

I have used Ian on a number of occasions over the years. I continue to use him for his quick response times, honesty, good workmanship, flexibility and advice. He also happens to be friendly and approachable. This time he fitted a light in our new porch which has a wireless switch, that can also be used with a fob! Although the light was extremely fiddly to fit, Ian did it with good humour. The wireless switch means not being restricted to where the switch can go. He also converted our outside lights, which he installed a few years ago, to a wireless switch. If anyone asks me to recommend an electrician I give Ian's name and number and have always had positive feedback.
