Roof was leaking. Commissioned FRBS to fix roof and moisture readings in the structure. Roughcasting. Chimney renovation on my side. Charged £18k CASH. Two withdrawals from my bank evidence can be provided. In my opinion and four other contractors including Environmental Health, Trading Standards. Work carried out on my property bordering on professional incompetence. Photographic evidence can be provided if requested. In my opinion do not use this company. No receipt of work has been issued and no attempt to rectify all faults in my home were acted upon. My front living room windows won't open due to packed roughcasting. Six months later this company seems happy to attend court.

We had our slate roof "replaced" by FRBS back in 2020. Since then we have had issue after issue - leaks, loose slates rattling, slates coming off altogether despite no adverse weather - and despite numerous visits and promises, our roof is still not completed to expected standard. We contacted them - again - almost two weeks ago by email and have heard nothing - again. So following legal advice, will get other roofers to quote to do the remedial work before winter and wind (to prevent loose slates crashing to the ground - we have had a few near misses!) - and hope that FRBS will at the very least reimburse us these costs. Really really disappointing and would not recommend this company to anyone.

After a number of let-downs by other roofing companies, the usual not turning up for appointments to quote or turning up and never hearing from them again, I made use of the which? Trusted Trader and made contact with First Roofing and Building. My requirement was the removal of moss, gutter cleaning and general checking of my roof. Anthony visited and provided advice, he also informed me his company, after the physical brush removing of the moss, would apply by spray, the anti-moss chemical. A service other roofing companies did not seem to be interested in providing. There were some delays due to the horrendous run of bad weather we were experiencing, however, Stacey in the office kept me updated by emails. I was delighted with the attention Nelson, Shooey and Ian provided when on the job. I was shown by video that my chimneypot had come loose, from its mortar bedding, so that was attended to as well. The two days the job took were really hot, summer days and the team were up on that roof taking minimum breaks. I was kept informed by Nelson as to progress and the lads worked well as a team. I am delighted with the attentions received, my roof looks cleaner than it has done for many years, and I can only say First Roofing and Building are well deserved of the which? Trusted Trader inclusion. Thank you, FRBS.

Trying to get a roofer in February after a storm proved to be a monumental task, however, FRBS were the exception. I was contacted quickly after my enquiry and made an appointment for someone to come out. James arrived when he said he would and gave me advice on my problem rather than a hard sell. He identified the cause of my issue and we discussed solutions. Work went ahead as planned and on the date agreed. Nelson was assigned to site manager and he kept me updated and informed throughout. We had some enforced changes to plan, not least because there was snow, pouring rain and high winds but the team worked through some pretty awful weather to make sure my home was always water tight. Mid way through it became apparent that what I really needed was a new roof - squirrels, birds and (judging by the damage) hippos had made their home under my tiles! This massive change was dealt with impressively and in just over 24 hours I had a new roof! From James, Anthony and Nelson overseeing work, Mario and his scaf team to Connor, Gary, Davie & Stevie the roofing and construction lads I was genuinely impressed with their commitment and efforts in making sure the best possible job was done. FRBS were not the only company I contacted but they were the only company who arrived when they said, did what they said, for the price they said, and that can not be understated.

We have a 1970s house with a lot of roof, which was redone about 2 decades ago. We have known from comments made and repairs needed that all was not good, but various tradesmen over the years have just replaced small parts. We asked FRBS to look at part of the roof where tiles were broken. They are a family business and every time one of them went up on the roof they took a video with a voiceover explaining what they were seeing and what the problem was, which they shared with us. That, and the fact that they were prepared to look at the bigger picture, has been a game changer for us. Though the job started as a few tiles and some pointing they were able to show us the need for a more comprehensive overhaul, which was not a surprise. As they have a precept that once they start a job they will finish it, they took it on wholeheartedly and gave us a new roof with beams and joists within a week. Incredible organisation and team work and tidied up every night and at the end. So we had an intensive experience of highly professional people who were friendly and accessible, have done a great job and whom we will use again and would highly recommend.

James and his team carried out work on roof the day following my call. The gutters and valleys were cleaned out and repaired by Conner and his young assistant. Both were very pleasant and all mess was cleaned after job completed.

Highly recommend this efficient and versatile firm who have a thoroughly impressive work ethic. Extremely pleasant to deal with and reassuring in their honesty about building issues.

We needed the gutters replaced and contacted FRBS. They are a local contractor and provided a quote immediately. The workers arrived within two days to erect the scaffolding. The roofers arrived a few days later and started removing the old gutters. They then installed UPVC fascia and soffit. Later that day they started installing the gutters. The job was completed the next day. The workers did a great job and went the extra mile.

A great team. They were very informative, friendly and quick. The job was for our elderly mother and they kept her and us involved from start to completion. A very professional business and would recommend their work. We were all delighted.
