Gordon and family widened and resurfaced my tarmac drive.They had a big team who each knew what to do and had an impressive range of heavy equipment to hand. The work was high standard and professional and they worked hard. I was very happy with their attention to detail and willingness to adapt to the odd minor snags that arose. Overall very pleased with the result and would recommend them to anyone.

We we needed our driveway and shared drive resurfacing as the original tarmac had been down for over 35 years and was in a very poor state. We had no hesitation in approaching this company for quotes which were done very professionally and promptly. Once we had agreed to the works, a date was set and the initial works carried out. At the same time, they reset some of the edging bricks and removed a tree root which had raised part of the old drive. Unfortunately the weather intervened, so the laying of the final surface was delayed by a couple of days. This was done very professionally and to a very high standard. Excellent service all round.

Gordy and the team came a gave me a quote for getting my driveway resurfaced only a few weeks ago. G Hill has a very good reputation in this area, and I had several recommendations to use them before making contact, plus they had done my neighbours resin drive and did a fantastic job. Needless to say, they did a great job on my driveway too. No mess, and a super smooth finish. I would definitely used them again.

We had a dropped kerb put in to extend our driveway access across a public footpath. Gordon was friendly and helpful when quoting. He advised me what I needed to do to apply for a certificate with the council for the works to go ahead and although this took a while from the local council and Highways Authority (no fault of G Hills & Sons), as soon as the permission came through they started the job within a few days. His guys completed the job efficiently and thoroughly with no mess left. I would recommend this company and definitely use again.

The job in hand was to scrape off old ballast from a driveway, add some Type 1 for new driveway areas, and then add new ballast on top. Zero damage, 100% satisfied. The effort Gordon went to to ensure we had the right kind of ballast surface was something you don't get every day. Very satisfied, and you will be too.

Gordon's team were efficient and courteous and finished the job to their usual high standard. The entrance was raised to prevent flood water running off the road down our steep drive and heavy rain today shows that it is working well. Highly recommended!

This is a well run family business that we have previously used very successfully. The work being reviewed was a big job to resurface our whole drive which is half a mile long. The work commenced on time, was efficient & very well done. Those doing the work were very professional & courteous & the job was completed on time & as per the company's quotation. We had Gordon Hill and Sons tarmac our dilapidated driveway. The quote seemed competitive and the work from start to finish, including 90sq metres of tarmac, a gravel path and installation of channel drainage in front of the garage, was completed in six hours – there were eight of them mind. These last two days have seen some real downpours and the tarmac shaping towards the existing soakaway and garage channel drain have been put to the test and they’ve passed with a completely dry garage. I would highly recommend this team to anyone looking to have their driveway refurbished.

He understood what was wanted and gave us three options. He was quick to come out and price the job, and quick to email me and answer my email questions. The men who did the work were delightful and hard working. The job was done as agreed, efficiently, in time to the price agreed. The new drive looks so much better and does the job he wanted. The team who did the work, arrived on time and set up everything. They made everything easy and were approachable and hard working. My son disabled and so needs extra thought when jobs are done at his house, and that is what he got.

Very professional, well organised and reliable company to deal with. It took a little while to get a quote, probably because they are so busy, but after a date was agreed Gordon's team turned up on time, got going straight away and did an excellent job retarmacing the driveway to our business park. We needed a couple of things done that were not on the original quote and the team completed these for a very reasonable extra cost. Highly recommended!

I recently contacted Gordon Hill to quote for my large driveway. Gordon was courteous, efficient, knowledgable and gave a very fair quote. He went out of his way to source a material that I thought I wanted. I changed plan and decided to use the material he had suggested and I definitely made the right choice. I was specific on shade of stone to tone with a 300 year old property. The team turned up as agreed and worked very hard battling awful rain at times. After contacting G. Hill and Sons I promptly had a visit from Gordon who assessed the work I needed to be done on my driveway. I soon received a pleasing quote for the work requested and informed Gordon I'd like to proceed with work. His team arrived on time on the day we had arranged for the work to start. Immediately they got to work with every member of the team constantly busy even though the weather was terrible. The work took a few days but the progress was amazing. We required new driveway due to water pipe issues requiring the old driveway to be dug up. We required block paving with good drainage due to a sloping drive. Contacted Gordon to get a quote and this was provided quickly, throughout the process Gordon was happy to provide advice and kept us informed, once we gave the go ahead the work was done quickly and efficiently. All staff on site were friendly and polite. Would recommend the company for anyone requiring driveway works.

I highly recommend Gordon Hill and Sons. They are a very professional and highly competent contractor. The drive leads to four houses and is very steep and they advised us to have a resin bound surface which was laid very professionally and all four house owners are very delighted with the finished work. Gordon is a very friendly individual, very responsive with any queries and kept me completely up to date with the scheduling of the work and any potential restricted access issues while the resin bound surface set. There were no negative issues relating to the work and all workmen were very polite to other neighbours affected by the work if they had access issues. I would definitely use Gordon Hill and Sons again and I highly recommend them.

We had G Hill and Sons come to finish a job that a competitor had made a hash off. They appeared in timely fashion, described what they were going to do and then completed a one hundred and twenty square metre drive to the standards laid out by them on quotation. Gordon Hill and his team carried out the reconstruction of the lane serving our eight houses. They did a first class job and we were very pleased with everything.

As an OAP inexperienced in construction this company was recommended to me and this was the first occasion, I have used their services. The project was small to remove a poor hard standing of loose stones for a motorcar and replace it with a properly constructed standing topped off with tar macadam. The company was courteous from the outset and a site visit was promptly made. An estimate of the work to be undertaken was emailed shortly thereafter setting out what required to be done and the cost. The offer was accepted and thereafter the company kept me closely informed regarding the date to undertake this work. The workforce arrived on the date and time indicated and the contractor also showed concern not to disrupt any neighbours. The small job was completed after a few hours and the site left clean and vacant.

Tarmac new driveway with drainage (February 2021). Took some months from the initial quotation leading to the work start , no issue as communication was good. Clear written quotation with itemised layout and fair pricing at final invoice adjustment. The work had been carried out both professionally and efficiently from quality ground preparation to attention to detail final finish, with consideration and care to neighbouring properties during work in progress. Very clean and tidy upon completion.

A quality job and Gordon’s team were efficient, very tidy and friendly - as always. Had a little bit of a wait to get them on site but that’s because they are so good they get booked up - so book early !!

This is the second time that I have used this company. They first laid a shared tarmac drive 7 years ago: it is still in excellent condition, showing no sign of wear and tear. On this occasion, they responded quickly, provided a fair quotation that they worked to exactly and completed the task quickly and professionally. The tarmac-laying fraternity generally receive a bad Press. However, G Hill & Sons are exceptional - quite outstanding. I can recommend them without any hesitation and I would use them again.

Resurfaced a lane which services 4 properties. The work was undertaken expertly by a well functioning team, within the budget and time scheduled.
