From first contact Gary was professional and polite. He visited my home promptly, gave an assessment with no pressure and the purchase was entirely my decision. Quick to quote, the garage door was ordered and I was advised fitting to be in three weeks. Installation was spot on, quick and tidy. Gary is a very nice man and experienced tradesman. Very pleased with work carried out. Excellent service, would highly recommended.

3 years ago we made the poor decision to buy a cheap roller garage door from a company in Manchester. We had problems with this door and we were never happy with it. The company stopped trading and we needed to do something about the door as it would not close fully. I was recommended Gary. What a great guy, he made an assessment and it was clear that the door was not fit for purpose. He made adjustments so it would close and left the decision to us about what we should do. I asked for a quote and I was pleased with what he could do so we went ahead with a new door. What a difference, it looks so much better, it’s sturdy and so smooth in operation. From the very first contact Gary was very professional and his communications were always prompt and informative which is very rare these days. His knowledge was very comprehensive and offered good sound advice without any bias or a hard sell. The ordering process was easy no need for a deposit just pay after installation and Gary's delivery time estimates were spot on. Gary and his workmate fitted our new electric sectional garage door. From beginning to end, Gary provided an extremely efficient, professional and friendly service. Quotes for a range of doors were provided and quick email in response to any queries. Very informative when doing the site survey which enabled us to make an informed decision when choosing a door. Less than 2 weeks from accepting the quote until the door was fitted. Very professional and efficient when fitting the door and friendly manner. Gary explained clearly on the use and maintenance of the door and let us know if there were any problems just to give him a ring. Really pleased with the electric roller garage door what a difference to the previous up-and-over door.

Two garage doors were installed to the agreed schedule and budget. We chose this team as a result of watching them install a large garage door in our neighbours property and we are delighted with the finished results. Gary kept us informed of the processing of the order and contacted us when he was in receipt all items. He and John arrived punctually two days later and the whole process was competed in a most efficient and organised manner. We were talked through the processes involved in their use and Gary even offered to come back regularly to spray the runners! The workmanship inside the garage is impressive, the garage doors look amazing from the outside. The considerable amount of detritus removed from the original doors was packed away in their van and the drive was swept and cleaned up perfectly. We were assured that we only had to pick the phone up if we needed any further attention and we knew that these were not just hollow words ! Excellent work superb finish. We cannot speak too highly of our whole experience with GDS.

Gary and John fitted a Garador Roller Door this week. They were easily contactable, polite, tidy, accommodating and were a pleasure to deal with. It's nice to meet skilled tradesmen who do what they promised to do, on time and at the exact price that was quoted. They are just a joy to work with, friendly and totally professional. From the moment I contacted Gary to the instalment of the door I found him very professional indeed. He turned up on time to give the quote. He kept me Informed of the progress of the factory ordered door. He gave me the fitting day and gave me a call around 1 hour before arrival so I was well prepared to give him access. Wanted a new sectional electrically operated garage door. After reading Which reviews sent an e-mail to Garage Door Services, Cumbria. Within 5 minutes received a telephone call from Gary. We arranged a visit to discuss an installation and cost. He arrived on time on the day. After a very helpful input from him we chose a door and system and he gave us a costing which was very reasonable. Arranged for the System to be ordered and fitted on it’s delivery to him. He subsequently contacted us and arranged an installation date. Arrived on time with his colleague and immediately set about removing the old door and replacing it with the new one. The matter was completed in less than a day. All rubbish and the old door with woodwork was taken away. The site being left clean and tidy. He explained how the system operated, how to maintain the system and should we have any issues to contact him immediately. Both Gary and his colleague were very helpful and pleasant. The new door installation was excellent with well fitted UPVC covering the unsightly brickwork and soffitt openings. In spite of the fact that I know steel components costs have risen, the price first quoted was that invoiced. Can highly recommend this Company

We needed to have a new garage door fitted as part of the condition of the sale of our house and Gary was fantastic from the moment we contacted him, after being badly let down by the first person we asked. Gary was friendly, helpful and very understanding of the situation. We ordered a new door through him and paid for the fitting before moving out, then Gary liaised with the new owners to arrange installation. Superb service from start to finish. First Gary advised me of some simple checks that might have solved the problem - hence potentially saving me money. And then when those didn't fix the problem, scheduling a quick appointment. Gary arrived on time, explained the diagnostic process and the resulting diagnosis. Gary then replaced the faulty controller, and explained to me how to use the new controls. He left with my thanks, and I have a nicely working garage door.

We chose GDSCumbria from reading online reviews. They were not wrong. An initial telephone conversation established the potential problems (and cost). Gary arrived promptly at the agreed time and completed the repairs very efficiently. He also serviced all the moving parts of the garage door as well as some additional minor tidying up at no additional cost. Good job for a reasonable cost. Hopefully, we will not need Gary again for 10 years or so, but would certainly recommend his services.

I inadvertantly touched the remote that closes the garage door yesterday (when I had left the car partly in - as I was coming back later to go out again). The door stopped on the car bonnet and broke things in the box with the roller. Gary and his mate came this afternoon and assessed the situation. They managed to repair the brackets by adapting some spares in their van. They were excellent - very helpful indeed. I would recommend them for their ability and professional approach and friendliness.

I contacted GDS Cumbria to replace a double garage door, Gary came round to provide information and give a quote the next day. He immediately saved me £390 as he said that the original motor would work with the new door (thank you). Following the order Gary and Norman arrived to fit the door. They worked professionally and were finished, having tidied up, within a few hours. No questions were too hard to answer and they even advised on how to complete the tiled lip of the flooring to stop the car from breaking the edges. I hope my workmanship is as good! We called back once we had researched further as advised and were able to make an informed decision on the right garage door closer for us. There was a challenge to locate the joist in the garage ceiling to fix the guide rail as the garage had very deep insulation. This was unexpected but with perseverance the joist was located and the rail was fixed in place. We are so happy to see that the job has been done properly. We were visited this morning by John, Gary and the legend that is Norman. They worked quietly and efficiently to install our replacement garage doors. They had been chosen after consulting on site with John whose advice and experience appears second to none. They arrived within the time frame agreed and were fitted without fuss or too much mess. They disposed of the old doors, cleaning up after themselves and leaving nothing for us to do at all. The ubiquitous mobile phone was conspicuous by its absence as we have had previous experiences with workers delaying the completion of their chosen task to answer at great length enquiries or more usually private phone calls. Because of this, their visit was very business-like and effectively expedited within a morning. We would have no hesitation in recommending GDS to anyone who, like us, needs new or replacement garage doors. The breadth of the knowledge and experience shows in their resulting work.

I first asked for advice on a potentially difficult problem and found G D S most helpful. Having made a choice of what seemed the best solution I provided approximate measurements and received a very prompt response for an on site survey. A solution was agreed and an installation in three weeks was offered at an acceptable cost. A later phone call offered installation a week earlier than first agreed, which given weather conditions was immediately accepted. Installation took less than half a day and a very neat job was completed. I found the whole exercise excellent. Other traders could learn a lot about customer relations from this firm.

This was followed up by installation on time, efficiently executed along with good instruction and ongoing care advice. My very large and heavy electrically operated garage roller door had been malfunctioning for some time. The local company completely failed to fix it quoting firstly a completly new door being required. On a follow up visit they said it was unfixable due to replacement motors no longer being available. Receiving a firm offer on the sale of the house and due to family major illness keeping me 250 miles away, I found GDS under "Trusted Traders". I really did have to totally trust them. They responded promptly and courteously to my call. Sending them directions and a key to the garage demanded absolutely total trust in a total stranger. That trust was completely justified: Despite being located 50+ miles from the job, GDS attended when they were next in the area, phoned me when on the scene to clarify a couple of points and fixed the door, reporting back to me that evening. I have been charged £60. I cannot give anything less than than 5 stars to all aspects of my dealings with John Palmer of GDS. I have absolutely no connections with him or the company other than as detailed above. JTP

From the initial phone call I knew I would be happy with John. I thought I needed a new garage door but John said not. I sent a few images by email and John was confident he could fix my door at a fraction of the cost. He came, on time and got to work straight away and was finished in 45 minutes.
