First contacted John Scudder for a quote for a full roof replacement back in January, John came around on the arranged date and time, received the quote within a week of him attending the property, he did say to me that he wouldn’t be around until June at the earliest, which was fine with me. We was very happy with the quote, and as soon as we received the quote, I spoke to John, and said book me in, he came around on June the 7th and completed to my satisfaction on Wednesday the 15th of June, I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending JW Scudder roofing services to anyone. His son and his work colleague explained every stage of the works, and they made sure my property was left clean and tidy before they went home after a full days work John senior came around and made sure that we was happy with the job done. Well done John and co for a very professional job. I will give your name with no problems if anyone wants a reliable and honest roofing company.

The company (J W Scudder Ltd) was recommended to me by a friend who used to be a scaffolder, now a delivery driver of building supplies. I met with Mr. Scudder (Snr) and agreed works to be carried out and cost. Because of commitments he made me aware that the work could not be carried out for several months. On the agreed date scaffolding was erected and skip deposited efficiently. His workforce arrived on time and work was completed in three days (much to my amazement). The quality of product and efficiency of work carried out was of the highest quality bearing in mind I have a degree of knowledge of building standards. I have no hesitation of recommending this company to tackle any roofing needs. Once again thank you John for a job well done.

We have just had our back roof totally replaced. The work was all done as planned and was finished to a very high standard. John and the team are all very personable, professional and very hard working. I would 100% recommend them and would definitely use them again.

These guys are really good. From the first meeting with John Sr, we knew they were going to be. Covid/Brexit caused all sorts of delays for builders, roofers, etc. including not being able to get stock. We were fine with the delays and John kept us informed throughout. When our turn came, John Jr and his apprentice turned up on time and were keen to get going. The brilliant thing is, once they start your roof, they keep going until they finish... so no going off to start another job halfway through. With this in mind, our whole roof took exactly the time we were told (one week) and at exactly the price that was given to us when we first spoke to John Sr. At the end of each day, John would tell us what they'd done and what the plan was for the next day. The good thing about this was, that we discussed a few extra bits of work, agreed any extra cost and then they just got on with it. Nothing seemed to be too problematic. John Jr's enthusiasm is quite infectious and we found ourselves getting quite unexpectedly excited (it is after all, a roof!) for the end result. When the work was completed, we were over the moon with how it had transformed our house from the glummest looking in our row, to by far the best looking. Can't recommend these guys enough. Cheers.

Great family run business. They gave us our quote and kept us fully informed of timings etc. and also came round to check on progress. They put our new main roof and porch roof on, they were a great team. We went for a grey slate roof, which we are really pleased with. It’s totally different from anyone else’s on the street and looks striking. At the end of each day the driveway was swept and everything left tidy. The work was completed on time and we were really pleased. Would definitely recommend them.

New roof, facia, soffits, guttering and downpipes - re-positioning of skylight which was a correction of installation done by another firm. Very pleased with the result and the time frame, especially considering the short daylight hours and weather at the time. Very friendly and professional firm. Would recommend.

We are very pleased with the new roof installed, all works were completed within a week and the team were cheerful and polite and explained at the end of each day what would happen the following day. After completion, all window sills etc. were brushed down and the drive swept. We would recommend this company to anybody requiring a new roof or based on our experience of their competence any other type of works that they carry out.

An excellent team of people who explain very thoroughly what they were going to do, how much it would cost and how long the job would take. They were a pleasure to have working for me and they worked to schedule and on budget. I was always kept informed of progress and they worked hard and consistently. John Scudder visited me on my request for a quotation. He sat down with me and explained every aspect of the work needed. In particular and most importantly, he explained the importance of using a roofer that was a registered ‘Competent Roofer’ and that was authorised to self-certify the finished work. The quotation given was very pleasing. John and his team communicated well, were punctual in starting work and were very courteous and tidy. I have left my review late, so that I was sure that there were no snags found. I have no hesitation at all in recommending this company for roofing work.
